  1. Same user uploaded KMBC's original Hearst-Argyle open (from 1998) with the claim that it began in 1995, which wouldn't be far-fetched because that's when those graphics began on WCVB, which raises the question... did KMBC ever actually use Newswire? I want to say it might have been listed on ASCAP but I've seen no video proof of Newswire on KMBC.

  3. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the most recent ratings postings. Typically, WKYC and WEWS have been battling it out for #2 at 6pm and #1 at 11pm (WJW doesn't have an 11pm newscast.) If I were to hazard a guess, WEWS is #3 or #4 at 4pm** and #3 at 5pm, behind WJW and WKYC's durable talk block of Ellen and Dr. Phil. The only time period WEWS really struggles is in early mornings... WJW's "Fox 8 News in the Morning" often doubles and triples the competition. Likewise, "Good Morning Cleveland" has been rebooted multiple times over the past decade. **That depends on how badly WOIO has flopped with "Cleveland 19 News" across the board.

  4. She's clearly a decent pinch hitter... but she's also clearly waiting for a spot to open. Given how infrequently the line up changes, I suspect that she will be waiting for a long time.

  5. WXYZ's iteration of "The Now" has morphed into a pseudo-"Action News at 4," right? The only thing different is the presentation/graphics and whatever content they take from KMGH. WEWS's Now replaced back-to-back episodes of RTM, which replaced "Dr. Oz" in mid-season (Oz moved to 10am exclusively, then WEWS gave his show up to WJW). So they had ratings issues in that timeslot that were worse than Detroit. I haven't really watched WEWS's Now in awhile, but with the 6pm team of Rob Powers and Danita Harris now as anchors, it's likely that WEWS will follow the same lead and make it a quasi-"News 5 Cleveland at 4" in all but name only.

  6. NYNlover does your team proposal indicate that you want to scrap that ernie talk show at 6?

  7. It should be noted that WKBW never cleared "The Now" as part of the Scripps reclamation project, nor are they this fall. (WKBW is clearing Harry Connick, Jr.'s new show at 3pm, moving "Hot Bench" to the 4pm hour, and scuttling "Right this Minute" to 12:30.) Of course, KB has been airing "AM Buffalo" in the 10am timeslot since 1978... and that's in line with the infotainment shows the legacy Journal stations would have aired/are airing. And did anyone notice that "RTM" is, as of this fall, being syndicated by Disney/ABC?

  8. They do have two identical control rooms that can be used for both of their studios. I believe their 10pm newscasts on WPHL come from the second control room while the 11PM show prepares.

  9. Eek, only saw the second post. Hoping for some more material from the uploader soon — one of the few people with a lot of Phoenix stuff. But I've never seen this WCPO open from the fall of 1985. I guess Newschannel *preceded* the Jay Gilbert theme from 1986!?

  11. I would be surprised if W*USA's GM Bill Lord hasn't entertained the idea of reuniting with Leon.

  13. When they came back on, Rick Williams mentioned the cause was due to a computer malfunction. I wouldn't be surprised if their ratings were still higher than the other locals during the outage.

  14. Scripps getting WBNS?!? That might just propel WSYX/WTTE to #1 if Nexstar can't get WCMH up and running again. If Scripps gets a hold of WBNS, 10 can say goodbye to WoF and J!

  15. According to FTVLive, Dispatch Broadcast Group is looking to sell WTHR (NBC) Indianapolis, IN and WBNS (CBS) Columbus, OH. Word is that TEGNA, Hearst, or Tribune have shown interest in both stations. However, Tribune already owns a station in Indianapolis (WTTV/WXIN), so you can cross Tribune out of the running to buy WTHR. If I have a vote, I put my money on TEGNA on purchasing WTHR and/or WBNS. As for Hearst, I have to say its 50-50 on when they'll purchase 'THR and/or 'BNS. It a wait and see match. http://www.ftvlive.com/todays-news/2016/8/22/dispatch-looking-to-sell-indianapolis-station
