  1. The studio that they were in from 2008-2012 no longer exists. It was torn out shortly after the move to 3C and the space converted back to newsroom content center space (it was a conference room before they made it a studio). I remember seeing a picture of the former studio space a few years back, and I recall the desk cameras were still mounted between the cubicles. I'd imagine they have removed them by now.

  2. They debuted "Quadcopter 69" on the news this morning and also just now on the news at 5. A drone operated by Lehigh Valley Drones. They flew it live over Route 22. The operator said he worked with news helicopters in DC and has been interested in broadcasting since then. It sounded like he actually approached WFMZ about it, citing a lack of news helicopter in the Valley. I think it's great, it was a neat shot to see aerial views of 22 @ Airport Road, something we don't see often around here! I wonder how often and what they will use it for.

  4. I hate to be the guy that links to another thread for this topic - but here's one I started. It appears it's also the one where Scott got his info from. I hope he doesn't think that the rendering in the article is what the newset will look like.

  5. Yup. Although, many were speculating that FOX would get their own O&O one way or another in Seattle after the affiliation deal ended, but with all the b.s. that's going on at 21st Century FOX, I'm having doubts that that's what will happen.

  6. It's both. Tribune (smartly IMHO) arranged it where KCPQ's expires at the same time that the Former O&O stations acquired from Local TV ends.

  7. That's why the network has someone on duty: John Palmer was always in 1A when Bryant and Jane were overseas. When Tom and Jane read the news as well as co-hosted, i'd guess they would handle the interrupt, Frank McGee might have done it back in the day,but i doubt Hugh Downs did(although he'd do a pretty good job, he'd rather let Frank Blair do it.)

  8. Quadcopter 69? That sounds pretty badass for a drone. I could see it getting usage, given WFMZ could never get a helicopter unless it was bought out by Hearst (which had a love affair with copters back in the late 90s/early 2000s while on their buying/merging spree).

  11. Sure, let's throw away a legacy news product in the largest media market in the country in favor of outsourced newscasts. Get real, that's not happening.
