  1. Yeah, especially the first few seconds up until the ID reverses out to reveal the open segment.

  2. Pitbull's NYE actually gave me life, it was pretty good. Although it should've been called Snoop Dogg's NYE Revolution feat. Pitbull since he (and others) was a towering figure + had more airtime than 'bull. The crew counted down in Miami rather than shooting to Times Sq. for the ball drop.

  3. After Dick passed, I gave up on DCRNYE and migrated over to Anderson & Kathy on CNN, although I did enjoy what little I saw of Pitbull's special this year since it included classic hip hop, which I never expected.

  6. And CBS hasn't bought this train wreck of a station yet because.....

  7. Maybe Amanda should just do news behind bars? Wouldn't be surprised if WGCL drops her too

  8. Well at least she wasn't drunk THIS time. Progress...not perfection. (thunk) I see a sweeps piece for the Feb. Book.... "Riding The Marta...this Anchorwoman's Story"

  9. Is it possible that it was produced back at the station and done through the automation system? The transitions seem very simple with quick cuts between sources. Edit: Figure I should clarify what I meant. As I saw the video I thought it could have been done through overdrive with the director using a breakout panel to change the camera source rapidly compared actually using the switcher to fading it up and off.

  10. ABC is under contract to run DCRNYE until 2024. Seacrest is a virus, but he's still popular for some reason or another.

  11. Remember that NBC doesn't put on this event, they just have the broadcast rights to it. The musical acts are entirely outside their control (though I'm sure they could help pull strings to get, I don't know, America's Got Talent performers...) I didn't see the whole show (just this video), but it looks to me like WMAQ's involvement is to provide the hosts and most of the broadcast aspect (the boring camera shots give away that someone who directs news for a living is directing the video here). The audio feed of everything happening on the stage is probably a mix from the "house board" (if they were using a system like Dante they could potentially have a "house mix" and an "air mix" on two separate boards, but I doubt it) more than likely being operated by someone from the audio vendor, which is why the hosts are so loud in comparison. WMAQ's involvement with the actual event itself is just about the same as the vendors who supplied the lights, trussing, staging, etc.

  13. But we're not. What's good for Nexstar's shareholders and Perry Sook is not what's good for the industry, the people who work in it and the people it serves.

  14. the amazing thing is that Meredith isn't a bad owner. KCTV, KPTV, and WFSB show that they know how to properly run a station. Yet when it comes to WGCL they can't do anything right; the talent seems to only last 2 years at the station leading to a constant revolving door, they change their branding every 5 to 6 years, their syndication lineup is scarce and they rely on infomercials to fill time ( a top 10 market station airing infomercials at 1pm every day is inexcusable), they have absolutely no identity in the Atlanta new landscape, and to top it all off they haven't been able to take advantage of Tenga/Gannett's total mismanagement of WXIA.
