  1. ABC is under contract to run DCRNYE until 2024. Seacrest is a virus, but he's still popular for some reason or another.

  2. And they're already "Localing". Good job, Nexstar.

  3. Remember that NBC doesn't put on this event, they just have the broadcast rights to it. The musical acts are entirely outside their control (though I'm sure they could help pull strings to get, I don't know, America's Got Talent performers...) I didn't see the whole show (just this video), but it looks to me like WMAQ's involvement is to provide the hosts and most of the broadcast aspect (the boring camera shots give away that someone who directs news for a living is directing the video here). The audio feed of everything happening on the stage is probably a mix from the "house board" (if they were using a system like Dante they could potentially have a "house mix" and an "air mix" on two separate boards, but I doubt it) more than likely being operated by someone from the audio vendor, which is why the hosts are so loud in comparison. WMAQ's involvement with the actual event itself is just about the same as the vendors who supplied the lights, trussing, staging, etc.

  4. I wonder about chris Jansing and if she is returning to anchoring. Sounds like a big demotion for Kelly O'Donnell like they are just switching Kasie Hunt for her.

  5. I don't mean in the spectrum action. I mean selling it to anyone. looks like Daystar and TBN don't have stations in the area.

  7. No time was wasted either -- all the old LIN/MG stations now proudly present the new Nexstar logo in their copyright sections

  8. The biggest problem with ABC's production is that Seacrest isn't the show's biggest problem. At best, he's consistent and inoffensive, at worst, he's bland and boring. Whether or not I watch that particular program really doesn't depend on him, as much is it's what they surround him with for co-hosts and entertainment. That's where the show consistently disappoints, especially this year.

  9. Pitbull's NYE actually gave me life, it was pretty good. Although it should've been called Snoop Dogg's NYE Revolution feat. Pitbull since he (and others) was a towering figure + had more airtime than 'bull. The crew counted down in Miami rather than shooting to Times Sq. for the ball drop.

  10. Here is a set of short WWBT clips from 1986 and 1988. The first video contains a short WWBT "12 News Update" open using "The Mission" by John Williams. From 1985, here is a WTCN news open featuring Roger Thompson on the voiceover and the "9 Country/11 Country" package. Here is a KHOU news open from 1979. And here is a WPIX special news open from 1977 using "Move Closer To Your World" by Al Ham.

  12. GAH!!!!!! I LOVE THIS! Excuse the caps. So much of my childhood is captured in this. Also, in almost 30 years, while more buildings have dotted the Downtown skyline as the open winded around the Coronado Bridge.. it honestly hasn't changed much.
