  1. I guess there's a different vibe. The studio is located at Sugar Beach, practically at the waterfront... so it's relatively calm if anything. I would assume the people there are already intimated by the large studio lights and equipment and naturally they would stay away. Furthermore, Citytv back in the ChumCity era operated newscasts and other events with open windows facing the busy downtown area of Queen and John... with minimal disruption. . -- An update to that thread by the way, Global Toronto's newscasts returned to the Don Mills headquarters the following week. There were no changes.

  4. Some GM moves. Meredith appointed former WHO GM Dale Woods to be the new VP & GM of Nashville's WSMV. Woods replaces longtime GM Doreen Wade, which she'd retired back in June. Also former LIN/MG executive Jay Howell is the new GM of CBS's Sacramento duopoly KOVR/KMAX. Howell suceeds former GM Kevin Walsh, which he's been appointed to replace the retired Bruno Cohen as the new GM of San Francisco duopoly KPIX/KBCW.

  6. If the Sinclair/Tribune deal doesn't go through than it a great day in America. However, if it does goes through SMH-Hmmm. Sinclair has gobbled up many other broadcast groups, so them getting #1 stations in many markets are sitting them pretty i.e. Cincinnati/WKRC, SLC/KUTV. Management at SLC/KUTV had gone on the record saying that Sinclair execs told them; Whatever you're doing continue to keep doing it, and we'll support you yadda, yadda, yadda. I think in FOX 8 case not much changes will come down the pike. I do wonder if Gabe Spiegel will have a job he did work at WSYX in Columbus. (I hope he jumps to WKYC if that be the case.) Scripps has dogged out it two big legacy stations WEWS & WXYZ both are a shell of its former self. That WEWS logo alone makes them look like market 204. Scripps probably wants to sell there been some talk on other sites, but nothing written in stone. I think they're clueless at Scripps. 5 will continue to sink and change personalities, management. 19 will do the same, but 19 product will continue to outshine 5; which is sad. That like WGCL picking themselves up and over powering WSB in Atlanta.

  7. All this Sinclair-Tribune nonsense makes me yearn for the days when Nexstar-MG was happening and the worst I thought would be "Local 27 WKBN", epic cuts, and "myvalleyisproud.com." Say what you will about Nexstar, but at least they don't try to sway sides in a not-so-subtly way compared to GO Media*. *New name I came up for Sinclair. the GO means "Grand Ole".

  9. You assume that people in this country are only conservative Republicans or liberal Democrats. What about people who are neither? Are they capable of watching Oliver even though they're not liberal Democrats?

  12. Actually, there would be enough stations for TEGNA to form a WSKY/WVEC duopoly if Sinclair sold either WTVZ or WTKR/WGNT. 2- UNC 3, 27- Sinclair/Tribune 4, 13- TEGNA 10, 43- Nexstar 15- WHRO 21- TBN 33- Sinclair 49- Ion

  13. Here we go. Yet another news expansion. TVNewsCheck stated that on August 21st, KRON 4 will be adding a new 9pm show, making their lineup a "primetime news block" from 8-11pm. The 15-minute 11pm show will be eliminated. MyNetworkTV programming will be aired from 11pm-1am.

  15. Sometimes the newscast is sleepy... but when a huge local story breaks, WFMZ really does a great job. They just had a full 9 minutes of coverage of the indictment of the Allentown mayor. There were 3 live reports. In fact it was the whole A-block. I wish they could do stuff like this everyday. It's really where they shine.

  16. You really think Republicans watch John Oliver? Please. They've been spoonfed by the usual suspects, namely Fox News, Rush and Lumpy, etc., to disregard anything he says - or anything said by his contemporaries - as "fake news." Oliver only has one specific audience, and that's liberal Democrats. Sad, but true.
