I hate being right, but the hints were becoming too obvious. For better or worse, I'm not surprised that Larry's name is being assumed as a successor in some form. I'm disappointed that it's not Phil, but Larry is very solid and has cost and age on his side. That said, nothing's confirmed. In reference to the header image on the Feder article, I need to start a drinking game where I take a shot every time a screenshot from a video I've posted or a demo logo that's been shown here is used in other public forums.5 points

I'd imagine McGinnis will get most shifts. They could just continue with the Schwarz/Mowry cycle on weeknights, too, if they don't want to name an immediate successor/can't come up with the weekend replacement in due time.4 points

Kathy joked at 6 that they have a month to make fun of Jerry. I know that that's mostly a joke, but if the announcement on Facebook was any indication, they are prepared to embrace the humor as they look back. "Here we go..."2 points

I could picture Cheryl on the 5, 6, and 10pm with Larry on the 4 and 7pm (If the 7pm still exists next year). It does kinda sound like Larry is getting a weekday role after Jerry retires.2 points

About the KFOR open, I think it originally featured the custom 1990 theme when it was implemented. I have a tape that features a partial 24-hour news update from c. 1992/early '93 that included a slightly updated version of the original 1990 theme being used with that same graphics package; presumably, the Newsmusic Central theme didn't get introduced until sometime between May sweeps and September.2 points

The current ND at WGCL worked with Sharon over at WOIO/WUAB. (Ironically, two of the anchors at WGCL - Mike Dunston and Alicia Roberts - both worked together at WEWS in Cleveland on "Good Morning Cleveland.") I have a feeling they'll continue what they were trying to achieve at 19/43.2 points

Jeff Hogan at WBNS will take Bill Leslie's job at WRAL in Raleigh in January. I guess Jeff got tired of waiting for the main gig at BNS... http://www.ftvlive.com/sqsp-test/2017/12/8/raleigh-station-names-new-anchor2 points

Cool to see a HQ video of the 1993 KMEX news open. The KFTV one came out of nowhere.1 point

KSHB's chief met Gary Lezak formally came out. It was one of Kansas City's worst kept secrets. Still a very sincere post. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=23085362525059581 point

And you got the booming loud Chapin for the rest... “ACTION NEWS... THE ONE ON 2!!!”1 point

I'd argue what made those opens work was the voice of Chuck Riley. That guy could sell anything with his pipes. The Nick Michaels re-recordings are just...flat.1 point

I could... if I had a video transfer card... and a laptop whose hard drive wasn't in the process of failing. At this point, I'm posting here from a library because of the latter.1 point

That looks about right. There was an update to the 1990 package in 1992 when "News Team 4" became "News Channel 4".1 point

Scott Light is there, remember Light and Kelly Frank news director both worked @ WGCL/CBS46 in Atlanta. Hogan, was set to be heir in the evenings. Just note even though BNS wins, has all the toys, but inside the building it consider the dark side... I was told when Yolanda Harris was at WSYX many former 10er's told her don't go to the dark side and it wasn't worth it, but she jumped ship. Hogan, was tired sitting on the weekends... He was waiting to sit next to Harris. Note: WSYX new set will debut on Monday at 5pm.1 point

Also, I have noticed this week his read has been a lot more monotone, at least compared to when he was anchoring the weekend editions of CBSEN. He doesn't feel as animated or engaged this time around.1 point

For practical reasons, now you have to dedicate 15-30 seconds for the montage at the end of the show, instead of possibly eating that time up for other stories and having just a quick goodbye on some nights. For reasons based on TV geek-ery, we lose those nice affiliate shots, sweeping camera moves in the studio, and hearing the theme's closing cut without natural sound or someone talking in the background.1 point
