  1. The next few years are going to be interesting for WNYT. Most of their old guard is reaching retirement age and their bench is a bit thin. For a station that is the epitome of stable, it will be interesting to see how they proceed. Come to think of it, this is the first time WNYT has dealt with an actual, planned retirement ever. Ed Dague had health reasons and a six-month saga full of drama, Bob McNamara had his hissy fit over bowling scores and resigned, Hubbard cuts ended Capital Region Backroads and Steve Scoville's career. Sure, there were people who left for bigger things (Chris Kapostasy/Jansing the biggest) or went to the next realm (Norm Sebastian), but this new ground will soon become familiar ground.

  7. I enjoyed KTVI's 2 News Team since its the 2 News Team package and I wonder how Lisa (LaFlamme) would react to the CKCO video now that she's a part of the CTV National News. I also enjoyed the L.A. news clips as well, especially the KCBS ones since those are still rare in my book.

  10. Only two public television stations that I can think of offer 24-hour weather coverage. KTCA is one of them and since September, they've rebranded their 24-hour weather channel as "TPT NOW" and if you ask me... the new look is really good. (screengrab from tpt.org)

  11. According to Bills twitter he has a brother who has some health issues. If I remember correctly Bill last did the Christmas Morning Show in 2015.

  13. I'm perhaps being overly critical, but I found WABC's coverage of the Port Authority bombing this morning to be underwhelming. Shirleen was anchoring solo for the majority. Not ideal for a major breaking news event. Nobody else to bounce off of or to jump in with new information. At one point she read out the bomber's exact home address, which seemed inadvisable at best. I happened to flip on Fox 5's coverage as well and thought Rosanna and Lori did a solid job.

  14. I hear you. Who would have thought the person who hosted the Today Show for the longest period of time might not be at the 70th anniversary show because they aren't invited? That's likely to be the case unless a major backlash to the #metoo movement happens which I sure hope isn't the case nor do I think it will be the case. I do think Katie was more popular. Katie will be there presuming she is alive which I surely hope and think she will be. I think it will be mentioned how Matt was the co-host for over 20 years and how he was fired. Frank died in 1974 at the age of 52 so he most certainly won't be there. Barbara will be 92 and a few years ago had heart surgery so i'm not sure if she's still alive then if she will be well enough to attend tho I sure hope that she is. Jim will be 81 which isn't terribly old tho not terribly young either tho I hope and expect he will be there. Tom will also be 81 and hopefully alive and well. Bryant will be 73 and he also had cancer a few years back tho I believe he's been cancer free for a number of years. Hugh Downs will be 100 and my understanding has been in good health expect for a knee operation many years ago so i'm not sure if he will be there tho I hope he is. Jane will be 71 and I hope and expect that she will be there. Deborah will be 63 and I hope and expect she will be there despite her rocky tenure at the Today Show. Meredith will be 68 and I surely hope and expect she will be there. Ann will be 64 and I think despite the issues she's at with the Today Show she will be there since Matt won't likely be there and let's not forget that Ann was on the Today show for 15 years much longer then her brief stint as co-host. Al will be 67 and let's not forget that he had some serious health issues over the years tho he seems to be doing okay nowadays. John Palmer passed away in 2013 at the age of 77. Willard Scott will be 87 and he's also had some serious health issues over the years I believe. Gene Shalit will be 95 and i'm not sure about his health. Chris Wallace will be 74. Margaret Larson will be 63. Faith Daniels will be 64. Savannah Guthrie will be 50. Hoda Kotb will be 57. Kathie Lee Gifford will be 68. Megan Kelly will be 52. Natalie Morales will be 49. I don't know how old Bob Ryan will be tho he must be on the older side. Estelle Parsons will be 94. Lee Meriwether will be 86. The rest of the Today Girls I believe are deceased.
