1. Wow, that WKYC open is pure new! They are lacking a good chunk in the Cleveland news archive... This must’ve debuted when Amanda Arnold took over with Doug Adair that month. She lasted maybe over a year before getting replaced by Mona Scott, who later married Doug. This also is (I believe?) the first clip on YouTube showing their set in full, which resembled WLS and WXYZ (which were both owned by NBC’s rival ABC at the time.) Channel 3 was surely a turnover place from that point till the 1990s. Sports was possibly the least affected, as Jim Donovan gained the stability once had by Jim Graner, in 1986, a decade after Graner’s death. One of the most notable replacements before Donovan was Tom Ryther in his 2-year gap from the Twin Cities.

 2. It's in a landfill now, but around that time KSPR had a flexi disc insert in the Springfield News-Leader. I think its main push was their "Spirit of NewsTeam 33" image campaign. But, if I remember correctly, it also explained what the "Buy the Ozarks First" campaign was about. The things I wish I had held on to...

 4. Lots of changes at WMC... first, as @NCFLMedia reported on his Changing Newscasts Blog, beginning today the noon newscast is back to one hour long, with Right This Minute moving to 3PM replace Crime Watch Daily... and a brand new newscast debuting at 3:30PM, something new for Memphis. Weekend news is expanding as well, with a two hour block from 5-7AM on both Saturdays and Sundays, followed by the existing 9AM hour on Saturdays and 8AM on Sundays. This adds an extra eight hours (!) to their news output every week. While you'd think all this expansion would require new hires, several people are actually LEAVING the station, including evening reporter Jerry Asking, morning reporter Tiffany Neely, and morning anchor Felicia Bolton. It will be interesting to see not only who staffs the new newscasts, but also who replaces these personalities, particularly Felicia since she was only fairly recently promoted to that position. Jerry is headed to WKMG/Orlando as a reporter; Felicia to WNCN/Raleigh as morning anchor/investigative reporter; and Tiffany to a position in Jonesboro, likely at Raycom sister station KAIT if I had to guess. Their new journeys begin on Friday. Oh, and this may not amount to anything, but I thought it was interesting that the tweet comes from a WMC producer on the day of the newscast début... Joyce Peterson, wife of WMC Chief Meteorologist Ron Childers, has been off the air since departing WATN several years ago not long after that station's rebrand.

 5. Sunbelt (IMWC) started KCWY in September 2003. They were number 1 in the market by the following May. In terms of ratings and revenue, KCWY has been the big dog in town the last 10 years. You can't own 1 tv station in one of the smallest markets and make any money. If you want to make any money in that state, you need to be in multiple markets. As it was alluded to in a previous post,I'm sure Gray was looking to buy out someone like Cordillera or Bonten or Cowles, but when they realized that wasn't going to happen, they cashed out.

 7. Well, I guess all it took was for someone else to ask: Now it's a game of wait and see. Personally, I wouldn't see her wanting the morning shift with her husband on evenings, so my bet's going on coanchor from 3:30-5. Anything is possible, though.

 10. WDBO is a station we don't have a lot of footage from considering they were No. 1 in Orlando prior to WFTV's rise in the late 70's. The clips I've seen from WDBO have been kind of lackluster, including this one:

 12. I'd say before 1995--that old '20th Television Fox' is rarely seen on television now.
