  1. Airing a 24/7 stream of Stadium or airing selected games at times?

  2. They've had the 8am audience for a couple of years now. As for the old flag (most memorable to me as being there at the beginning of the 9/11 breaking news), that set was redone for HD in 2005. With that, a new wooden flag was mounted behind the secondary anchor desk, but that backdrop was completely redone when Diane and Robin shifted away from the window in 2007. I mentioned it way earlier in this thread, with this exact picture, but *THIS* was peak GMA. *(November 2005-June 2006) Gibson, Sawyer, Roberts, HD, graphics, that set. The best combo of all factors on the show in my lifetime.

  4. We’re not going to agree on this so I’m just going to walk away from the discussion. I don’t think it’s appropriate for World News Tonight to broadcast the newscast from the Red Carpet of a major entertainment show. They’ve never done the show from the Red Carpet and ABC has had the Oscars for decades now. It’s like tuning into E! News for election coverage or ESPN for a high speed chase. It’s in poor taste and I’m not looking to get my news of the day from someone standing on the Red Carpet. You are, so fine - we can disagree on that.

  5. Agreed. It's a Sunday newscast, which is usually just all whip-around wire regurgitation stories and 'here's what you missed on the Sunday talk shows, if you care' on most weeks. A weekday, that would have been reason to be concerned. Unless big breaking news occurred on Sunday, there's no reason to worry, and they probably had a backup crew in New York ready to go if they had to go into serious mode.

  6. I always wondered what the arrangement with KTTU (KMSB's Duopoly partner) became? Does Tegna still have ties to them or is that all Raycom at this point?

  7. Definitely agree - Diane, Charlie, Robin and Tony on weather was the greatest period for this show. The content was fresh and captivating. The team was genuinely one of the most natural and best to have ever done morning television.

  10. Two new Chicago clips from FuzzyMemories... WMAQ's localized version of the Just Watch Us Now campaign, 1982: WCIU's Stock Market Observer from 1971 (but it could easily be the 1950s):

  11. I'm surprised ABC even had World News Tonight on given I don't ever recall an evening newscast airing at 4:30 Eastern Time.

  13. Yay... the opinions of disconnected people reported by disconnected people. Oh goody.

  14. Didn't they rebrand WKTV or at least do a total graphic overhaul once they came in and upgraded them to HD?

  15. And the gripping motion. It’s like they are squeezing a stress ball.

  16. Ick. That's pretty bad. The worst part about it is that this is Heartland's first go-around at re-branding a station and this could roll out to their other stations. For a group that I was fascinated to see what they would be like, this is extremely disappointing.

  17. Well, if you want to get technical, the #MeToo movement is news and I’m sure there was stuff to report. The Oscars are news. Since when is only the bad things like murders, robberies, and bombings considered news? There is a such thing as good news. Again I will point to the content of the show, which covered all the headlines.

  18. Because the Oscars really aren’t News... it’s fun. News is things that actually effect people. How does an Oscar personally effect anybody? Does anyone actually go postal over it or does a family not eat over it?

  19. Fine. I haven't watched it since a few years ago after David came on board and changed the show's pace and style. I haven't heard great things since then so my bad for not watching myself. It just seemed like a joke to broadcast the show from the Oscars Red Carpet. This is a program about the world's event and the Oscars, especially the red carpet, is not the place for that in my opinion. I also said the show is a former shell of itself (when Peter Jennings averaged 15 million viewers nightly). I agreed with you that NBC shouldn't pack up and move everything to the Olympics so I'm not just bashing ABC, but the Oscars Red Carpet is just not the proper setting for a nightly world news summary.

  20. GMA was always my morning show to watch, but it has turn into clown show and the same can be said with Today Show as well too. It all about $$$ folks. However, I like Robin and George, and Michael he's great at football. However, he should always do features, lighthearted stories. Also, Amy and Ginger are good people in my book. However, that Laura Spencer she an overkill with her syrupy, aww shucks annoyance. She just too much, with her syrupy-ness, and when did they bring in tables for the audience to sit in the studio? It like a nightclub at 8am and all there missing is a chandelier so Rob, or whoever can come flying in from outside Time Square. I hate to say this, because CBS News has always skewed to an older audience, but CBS This Morning, does "Real News" well, and the three that are there do really well, and there no stunts at CBS vs. NBC & ABC. I just can't see myself watching CBS too much all the time. I had to take a break with Mika & Joe over at MSNBC, because Joe has to have the final say. I've been watching Chris & Alisyn New Day over at CNN. Not too bad, and Chris finally got to get the lime light he wanted, too bad it wasn't at ABC.
