  1. Who cares? I've seen tons of old late news opens that use daytime shots.

  2. They're kin to the founder of WCIU, John Weigel (Tim's father and Rafer & Jenniffer's grandfather). Shockingly enough they kept the Weigel name all this time, even though its been owned by the Shapiro family almost the entire existence.

  5. Here in Louisiana: Pat Shingleton (chief weather forecaster) & his son Michael (6 & 10 pm news anchor) at WBRZ in Baton Rouge Jillian Corder (4p anchor & 6p co-anchor) and her husband Brady Renard (sports director) at KPLC in Lake Charles. Incidentally, both Jillian & Brady worked in the Monroe, LA market, but at separate stations (KNOE & KTVE/KARD, respectively). Then, there are the Mackel siblings at WDSU in New Orleans: Fletcher (sports anchor), Travers (investigative reporter), and Megan (chief photographer). Also, Fletcher is getting married this month to WVUE reporter/anchor Meg Gatto.

  6. That's not a knockoff. That's the real package. They just don't have Gotham installed on their CG machines.

  9. Sinclair's KidsClick block has a new (second) network home, TBD. The network began airing the block on Monday (May 7), and will air it weekdays from 6:00 to 9:00 a.m. ET and weekends from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. As a result, TBD will also begin airing its E/I programming for a half-hour daily at 9:00 a.m. weekdays and 10:00 a.m. weekends (instead of in 90-minute blocks on Saturdays and Sundays only). Even though the block has been added to one of Sinclair's in-house multicast networks, KidsClick will continue to air on This TV, at least, for now. BTW, how come Sinclair hasn't tried to syndicate KidsClick to CW, MyNetworkTV and independent stations outside of the group's portfolio? The 2018-19 season would be the best opening to offer it to other stations.

  10. Another amendment regarding the Gray/Legacy Wyoming deal. On the KFNE/KTWO apps, they've attached a shared service agreement for Gray to operate, and an option agreement for Gray to acquire the LPs of the proposed Legacy stations.

  11. Ok...I'll chime in with some that I can recall... Bill and Patti Burns...father and daughter that anchored together at KDKA (referred to as the Patty & Daddy show but was a hit with viewers) Fred and Wally Griffith....Fred was the longtime host of WEWS' Morning Exchange and Wally was a reporter at WOIO in their early years as a CBS affiliate. He even appeared (with WOIO's blessing) on TMX for an anniversary special and his gift....a CBS 19 coffee mug! And there's the Gumbels, we all know Greg and Bryant...and then there was Elton, who anchored sports at WCTV in Tallahassee. I believe he was a nephew to the elder Gumbels? And then there was Jerry Peterson, longtime weatherman at WSOC in Charlotte. His son? Greg Peterson....now the primary anchor at WPMI in Mobile.

  12. It's in B&W (it came from the Vandy archives), but nonetheless, here is a great edition of NBC Nightly News from February 22, 1979, which features a young Chris Wallace (with a moustache!) on the HOR begining televised sessions, and a final story on the election of future MST3K producer Jim Mallon to the Uniersity of Wisconsin student government!

  16. How many journalist families are there in the country? I’m only aware of the Ogles in OKC, the Ponce brothers and father in Chicago, and the Magers brothers (both retired).

  17. Part 107 FAA regulations state you need a waiver to fly past 30 minutes of civil twilight (30 minutes past sunset). So it’s not crazy impossible, just a little tougher than doing some quick shots with a drone at night. You can always do a nighttime timelapse on the ground... that would look cool

  18. Last night on News12 Hudson Valley they used a report from i24 news. Even after the report they directed people to i24.tv for more information. I'm assuming they'll be talking about a merger or the new brand on air in the coming weeks.

  20. A compilation of Valparaiso basketball news coverage after they made the NCAA Sweet 16 in 1998. A lot of New York and Chicago in there, but also some GMA and rare MSNBC among many stations shown.

  21. The font choice ruins it. Then again, WSMV bastardized the current NBC O&O graphics, so what else is new.
