  1. That sounds more likely, but who knows? Was that theme even in use in December '79?

  4. A little late to the discussion, but I really want to echo this. The social media generations already know what happened. We're more interested in why things happen and what they mean. Give us several minutes on how bad the situation was for the people showing up at the border to seek asylum, and not just what happens afterward. Do a full package on the most important agenda item at the city council meeting before it happens, not just a quick SOT when it passes.

  8. Earlier tonight in the 5 p.m. news, Rob Stafford made his profanity whlie he's doing the cold open. He saids "B*tches" rather than he saying "Beaches". Who the station will proposed an FCC fine for their profanity on live TV during the news?

  9. I’ve seen that open before - it was on this video from 1984: You can see it on the control room TVs. Is the uploader sure this aired in ‘83? Corinthian/Dunn & Bradstreet stations had unified looks & sets at the time and didn’t really change their opens at all, so this possibly could’ve aired after the Belo takeover.

  10. Posted in the Radio Broadcasting forum about Tegna reportedly looking to dump the two San Diego radio stations it got in the Midwest TV deal for KFMB-TV and, as a start in that direction, apparently not interested in signing the popular but high-priced KFM-BFM morning show to a contract renewal. More appropriate for the radio forum, so: https://forums.tvnewstalk.net/index.php?threads/sd-reader-tegna-looking-to-get-rid-of-san-diego-radio-stations-dave-shelly-chainsaw-morning-show.16890/

  12. That 90s montage there is a pretty awesome one there! Lots of goodies. The KQTV theme strikes me as being a Network track - and with a really good look for the market and time at that. And holy crap, it's KTVO and WGEM anything!

  15. So, the other day, Tegna had their "Pinnacle Awards." It awards the best in innovation, etc. at Tegna stations over the last year. Anyone at Tegna have any more info on this? What are the categories? Any place to view the winning entries?

  22. While we're on the topic of WGCL I've noticed that they've ditched their "Local. Real. Everywhere" slogan that they debuted with new graphics last fall. It is no longer used in opens and it's not mentioned at all in promos. I noticed this back in April, don't know if it was ditched earlier than that.
