  1. WDIV's AM news open from 2003(?) with the morning theme of Local First News

  2. Ultimately, I guess it depends on how stations prioritize their weekend newscasts now, compared to 15-20 years ago. 6 makes sense to have Walter and Sarah on Sundays, with 5PM (? not 100% sure), 6, 10 on PHL 17, and 11. 29 having Lucy and Ian on Sunday-Thursday makes more sense now, especially this fall with TNF on Fox. While writing this, I just remembered that Denise was paired with Chris Cato a few years ago and that pairing was great. It IS a good question why she has gone solo since Cato was moved to mornings.

  3. If you was running FOX 29, what changes would you make to boost ratings and improve their newscasts and on-air product?

  4. Or are you trying to get on Peep and the Big Wide World because the phrase "peeping tom" made me think of it? Yes, that's a real show, look it up. One of the characters there is called Tom. You might also want to look up what always comes on after that show. It's called Pocoyo.

  5. I believe that set of opens debuted when Forrest Sawyer took over for Chuck Moore, and then the branding became “Eyewitness News” later that year. Now that I’ve filled up most of the gaps for West Palm Beach, it’s your turn, Minneapolis-St. Paul... Also I never knew Terry McSweeney worked at WPBF. Must’ve been his job before going to KSAZ and WTEN...

  7. Not only ITV kick but i'm also on '80's advert' kick. This was the best local structure i can think of. An independent system consisted of local franchises air on the same channel 3 respectively. Those stations had their own identity instead of just being 'ITV' They also produced their own shows, a good number of them air on national ITV. If only they could identify on air their name (ITV Anglia, ITV Meridian, ITV Central) since it's their official name than homogenized as just ITV. Reports of the 1991 franchise results were maddening. It makes you wanna curse out an already dead iron lady.

  8. A WSB open that was so interesting that I screen-recorded off a recently uploaded radioman1968 video.

  9. Its sad that channel 3 hasn't been relevant for newscasts in the region for quite sometime,. The ratings show it.

  10. Also I partially underlined the previous post by accident. I tried fixing it, but it went horribly wrong as a result of another mistake, so I left it as is. While typing, I was trying to cover the LG logo on my phone with my hand (made very small so I don't pay attention to it), causing those mistakes.

  11. WFAA has WNT at 5:00 and local news at 5:30 on Sundays, as well.

  12. The funny thing is, KMOV rolled out that same exact design for their mobile app... what... two years ago? I'm fine with a logo evolution, and that's what this is, but the glaciers retreated from the Midwest at a much faster pace than this. The new logo features the KMOV calls prominently, so why not the KMOV4 brand?

  15. Here's a random news segment of WLTV from 1991. Boy, it's so hard to find old local Spanish content from back in the day such as Univision. I know this maybe off topic, but if you guys were trying to find hard to find videos of old local news content, what's the best way to find them besides circulating tapes? Sorry if I'm asking, but I'm not a professional when it comes to find hard to reach very rare old news videos.

  17. Aw, yeah! Central had a shaky few years, what with trying to establish a firm identity and escape ATV's shadow, but by the time the cake rolled in, they had evolved into winners. The cake is one of my favorite logos, and all the graphics, idents and such that accompanied it over the years are all incredibly good. Catchy music, cool animation, and eventually a distinctive jingle-- but then Carlton came in and ruined everything in their quest to corrupt and take over ITV from within. But every so often, you might be able to find this endcap on an old rerun or what have you:
