1. I like how a lot of people on here think this rebrand was a knee-jerk reaction that they just decided to do one afternoon. Believe me, they focus grouped this stuff, and did their research, and it took months to settle on this brand and logo combo. YOU may not like it, but apparently the research and focus groups did.

 5. So this popped up on my Instagram timeline again. A journalist at WCAU saw this picture of a monkey on. One of the outside sources. Turns out it came from a switcher test video out of 30 Rock that was sent over satellite (and for some reason they received it and put it as a MW source).

 8. Interesting how ESPN's graphics were standardized across all its properties - now each one (SportsCenter, MLB, NBA, CFB, CBB, NFL) has a unique package.

 9. Craig is a natural. He's smart, he's a great interviewer, and can easily transition from serious news to lighter fare. He'll be a great addition to the weekday team. Way better then useless Michael Strahan on GMA.

 10. The man who took a pickup to KDFW's studio-office building in Dallas recently has been let go. Authorities can't hold him if no charges are ever filed. With all the mess he made and dust-up he caused, no one has any objection--KDFW, WFAA, no one. https://www.dallasnews.com/news/crime/2018/09/15/man-suspected-intentionally-crashing-fox-4-building-jail

 11. Well, according to TitanTV schedule, KDAF has Two & a 1/2 Men and MOM from 5-6PM and DailyMailTV from 9-10PM M-F starting Monday. https://cw33.com/on-air/program-schedule/

 12. Unfortunately, it appears KDAF is giving up on news. Just checked their schedule and they replaced Newsfix with a double run of Daily Mail TV. KDFW is now the sole provider of 9pm news in Dallas.

 14. i see the "i wish things stayed the way they were in 1995" side of tvnewstalk is out again... a mediocre logo for a mediocre company... not sure what the problem is... quality over quantity??? how many logos do they have??? if you don't like this logo... you should have seen some of the drafts... oof!!! this was the best of the bunch... believe me...

 15. If you don’t offer the current logo as an either or then the focus group can only change to something new... just sayin...

 16. ...unlike WFXT which has a really bad logo, but did not listen to focus groups or do research for it (this was before the Boston 25 News rebranding, which was based on a survey).

 17. Looks like WJCL had only a 6pm news in 1992, when they were known still as Newswatch 22: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=q72mwN6UcS0;t=218 Lewis Broadcasting sold WJCL in 1998 for $19 million to Grapevine Communications LLC of Atlanta, a private equity firm. The improvements to WJCL must have come in preparation for or after the sale.

 18. WJCL must had changed, because in the late 90s into 2000s they only had a 6/11pm news. Glad somebody did clarified.

 19. That KARK Open was copied from former sister station WXIA in Atlanta. What’s odd is that they snagged that open right after Gannett sold them (I believe; a 1983 blooper reel shows the news set in this video being built). And I’m assuming ‘JCL didn’t air 11pm news at the time cause they were being beaten in the ratings by “THE News” at WTOC...

 20. I was about to post that KARK newscast, you beat me to it. And on that WJCL clip, the reason there was only a 5pm newscast mentioned because JCL didn't have late news back then (they carried Married with Children reruns at 11pm). The original Ellis/EQ Vance open to WUPW's 10pm news, were they possible the first non Hearst station to use Image News? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=Z-T1Q_bqfYA;m=1;s=10

 21. WJCL's logo in the mid-90s was a...KCBS ripoff, just with one more "2". No open or music though: These WVTV movie bumpers from 1986 use associated cuts of the KTLA/KSTW/etc. theme... And here's a KARK newscast at 6:00 from 1985: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=94oLUeA11WE;t=1050
