Gray Television respectfully disagrees, in fact they have come out and essentially said no they're not going to do layoffs P.S. Link is behind the paywall4 points

Here's a project I had been working on in my off-time and just have neglected to post. It is probably going to be the clearest version of the "Telmundo 1992 News Theme" out there at this time. Apologies for the changes in quality at the very beginning and at the very end, but the clips were both of stereo and mono mix, with a little bit of toying around in Adobe Audition.4 points

There's no need to attempt at race-baiting. Nobody mentioned race until you did. People on this site are just having a healthy discussion as things continue to develop regarding Tegna. Just because someone mentions a person by name has nothing to do with race. You really need to lighten up a bit, with all due respect.3 points

And now it looks like an investigation into the stock sell swapping involving Tegna and Standard General may be forthcoming and it's being looked into at this time. @Myron Falwell brought up a good point on Discord at how the media industry if this virus persists well into July and August and it never fully goes away enough to where its deemed safe to reopen everything may have to be bailled out by the government. I hope it doesn't come down to it, but it's certainly a possibility here that what Tegna did today may spread to other media companies down the road2 points

Exactly and I think Gray is doing it the right way by recognizing that their employees should be taken care of. Tegna on the other hand, is doing it the wrong way. What Lougee needs and should worry about is making sure that his employees are taken care of and paid in full, they don't need their paychecks reduced under any circumstances2 points

I don't think any station needs traffic reports anyway, traffic reports are only useful if your listening to the radio in your car. The fact more stations haven't dumped them yet is odd to me, especially considering google maps & bing maps will alert you if there is a slowdown right on your cell phone.2 points

Sadly, this could be the case for many more companies across the media industry. Especially those who are highly leveraged and count on live sports programming to make them lots of money... Even worse are the retail workers who have been indefinitely sidelined by their own parent companies and government bodies shutting down "non-essential" business.2 points

Checking back in with New Orleans and WGNO....News With A Twist appears to have been mothballed (for now) and (finally) replacing the news times with actual newscasts. I know they've been the cellar dweller, but this needed to happen LONG before the COVID-19 pandemic took over, and ravaged places like New Orleans. Over on WWL, Great Day Louisiana is still airing weekdays at 9, but shows are in repeats.2 points

They shouldn't be on the same IFB Channels, in theory they should be able to hear each other. Unless they are using some sort of app - like Unity. It could be to minimalize any shot delays / awkward chat, so the other can look ahead at scripts. Things just work better when there's less going on.2 points

Tegna's changes interest me, but the key is that there are no layoffs *yet.* They may very well be setting themselves up for the long haul. I'd assume most would be fine with one week furlough/pay cuts until this is all "officially" over than work like normal for the next 3 months and then get laid off. Otherwise, i'm sure accounting at the corporate level is assuming that /most/ of the canceled events will be made up, therefore they can still assume that income for this year (see: NASCAR, NBA, Golf, NFL, etc). Whether that will actually happen or not is yet to be determined, and is the very thought that keeps me up at night.1 point

Some really great uploads by btm0815ma; the clips are wonderfully curated and the descriptions have obviously been written by someone with deep knowledge of the history of TV news in this country. Do we know who btm0815ma is? Is he or she a member of this forum? Thank you for all your work if you're reading this.1 point

The more time passes... the more I don't hate the CBS Weekend News being anchored out of the different CBS O&O's around the country. It's kind of a neat idea if you remove the situation. However, there have been a noticeable handful of snafu's. I can't find a feed to prove it, but we noticed the CBS Weekend News ran it's open w/ countdown late on the New York Feed on Sunday, leaving our MC Op a bit miffed since we came out on the CBS feed and saw the entire countdown air. Not something the average viewer might notice, but it's just another sign of the oddity of the situation. Poor director on that show probably just had the open coded to roll at 5:00:00, not realizing it had the 10 second countdown (the usefulness of which I've always been curious about).1 point

No studio use this morning. Chris and Mary are both anchoring from their homes. John is doing weather via the Mobile Weather Lab in Essex County, NJ. The odd thing is Mary anchors one block, then after commercials, Chris does the next block. Not sure why they can't co-anchor?1 point

Hello everyone! Looks like I’m gonna be doing another update regarding not only my compilations, but my online activity. If you haven’t seen my Twitter thread sharing my story for Autism Acceptance Month, I suggest you do so. It’ll clear some things up and give more context about my experience. If you already have, thank you. So far, I’ve been gathering clips for future compilations and ones I’m working on updating and it’s been doing fairly well and I’m trying to get back into things day by day when it comes to my compilations. I am STILL planning on doing my compilations for NW Arkansas, Youngstown, and Salisbury, along with other compilations I plan on updating and I have some ideas I have for my channel. Unfortunately, compiling and gathering clips is very time-consuming and I feel like it’s time-consuming at the expense of other important stuff I should really focus on. As most of you know, I’m a freshman college student. On top of my compilations, I also have a lot of homework and assignments to do, especially with what’s going on right now in the world. To be honest, I really haven’t been paying attention to my academic needs lately and I’ve pretty much had that spring break mentality I’ve had on my mind for two weeks. It’s putting a burden in my academic work, especially when I’m not used to having to do all my classes online. Sure, it’s a bit convenient but I’m a very easily distracted flamingo when it comes to stuff I have to do online, so it’s hard for me to focus on what’s important. I really haven’t had all my classes online before in my entire life, and I assume most people haven’t. I really like the sense of having that college experience by going to campus every single day. This is something most people will be having a struggle getting used to, and this is especially the case for people like me who are autistic. For me, I tend to go along with a set routine every day and whenever there’s a disturbance to my routine I get so much anxiety, I become a very easily distracted bird and focus away from the things that are super important. It’s not fun at all. It’s something that would come back to bite me in the butt every single time it has happened. In times like these, I’m honestly trying my best to adjust to this new normal, which I hope is temporary. It’s difficult as heck, but I hope that I will get through this, and I will. I haven’t been feeling the best for a while now mentally and I know that there’s something wrong with me, but I haven’t done anything about it, at least, not until today. As someone who wants to help people smile, I feel like what’s more important is that I help myself smile, slowly but surely. In a sense, I kinda feel like what Adler the Eagle has been through recently in terms of mental health. I want to stop this self-destructive loop as much as possible and find ways to keep myself organized. I really haven’t done anything like this ever, mostly because I had this absurd mentality that overworking yourself is how you become successful and that rushing through things is the only way to keep up with others. This is something I need to get my mind off of, because it isn’t healthy for me, especially considering I’m someone who works at a slower and precise pace. I really enjoy making news open compilations and being a part of the communities I’m currently in, and I still do, but right now, I have bigger things to focus on, plus I kinda feel burned out. This is why I’m announcing that I’ll be taking a social media break, which I expect to last around two to three weeks. This means that I won’t be active or at least not as active on all social media platforms I am in, which includes Twitter, Discord, and Fandom. Instagram is somewhat included, but I’ll only be using it so I can connect with friends I know in college. I’ll only be on Twitter to give important updates or in the event I might have to do emergency commissions, which I really hope doesn’t come to that, because I don’t feel like I’m ready to do commissions at all. As for Discord and Fandom, I won’t be on my main account and will be using another account on my wiki server. Keep in mind, I will only use this account IF and ONLY IF I need to deal with situations where I need to punish someone with a mute or ban and nobody else is available. Other than that, I can’t do anything else such as deleting images from the wiki (unless they’re inappropriate in which case, I will). I’m deeply sorry, but I gotta prioritize on my college assignments as well as my mental health. I hope you all understand why I made this decision and that it’s for my own well-being. I will be back once I get my stuff together academically and I hope I can have a better and more stable routine when I complete my assignments. As for things for me to take a short mental break on from my college work, I might be doing something like playing a video game, doing some short exercise, or cutting clips for my future news open compilations. This means progress is still going to be made on my compilations, but now I’m gonna be working on them day by day at my own pace, because compilation-making shouldn’t be a race and I think people should know that. If there’s anything I want to end this off with, it’s that I know that this is something a lot of people like me are going through right now and that most of us are going through some tough times in one way or another. I know people are also having a hard time adjusting to the new changes in their lives and how their routines have been disrupted due to what’s been going on in the world right now. I know, and it sucks, but rest assured, I have faith there will be good news on the way very soon. We will get through this together. We just gotta take it one step at a time. - ChocoMingo P.S. To the one person also doing news open compilations on YouTube currently (Robert Lee), if you can give me a place where I can reach out to you outside of YouTube or contact me through email, that would be very much appreciated. The last thing I want is for someone else, whether it’d be you or someone else to make a compilation of a station I plan on doing because I’m working hard to get back into making compilations, especially from the three markets I plan on doing (Youngstown, Salisbury, & NW Arkansas) and the stations I plan on updating, but I need to take a breather because of other things I have going on in my life. If I need to, I will try and work something out with you and K.H., who I can talk to on DMs in the TVNT forums. However, please do not rip any of my compilations that I have done or will be updating or this flamingo won’t be very happy. I really don’t like making statements like this, but because you don’t have any other place where I can reach to you, I feel like I don’t have a choice.1 point

First off it's not an obsession it's a simple fact that Kim has taken on an investment into Tegna and he doesn't want to waste his 11.8% in Tegna, period. And as typical you just had to bring up a topic that doesn't need to get brought up that will derail this thread so I suggest we stop that "race" thing now.1 point

Now you can throw Denver into the mix. Are they just spinning the wheel and choosing a random O&O for The Evening News? So far I’ve seen KCBS, KTVT and now KCNC.1 point

KOTV is currently closed for deep cleaning of the station after one of there workers tested positive for the virus KWTV stepped in to broadcast statewide tonight. They said the guy is doing well and that he had no contact with anyone in the news and hasn't been at the station for two weeks.1 point

An incomplete KTVO-TV, Ch. 3, Late Newscast from April 4, 1993. A very rare incomplete newscast from KTMJ-LP Ch. 6 in Junction City, KS, circa 2000. This was when KTMJ-LP had their own inhouse news department & before they transplanted the KTMJ-LP callsign to their Ch. 43 translator in Topeka, KS (In 2001.) & moved their operations to Topeka, KS (In 2004.).1 point

Bumping this up: long before social media provided the storylines of the daily serials at the click of a mouse or the press of a phone key, the networks then did their own promos for what was to come on the daily serials, and you never knew what would happen unless you followed those serials very closely. Here's a promo from May '81 for Another World (using NBC's Proud N and Serif Gothic promo font of the time):1 point

Yeah C Clarity is a really serious downgrade from The Tower. And while the Eyewitness News brand isn't unique to the station like it is for a station such as WABC, they did use it for many years, and I think it just came as a surprise to see it go.1 point

Wow. Never thought I'd see the day when WTHR would drop the Eyewitness News brand. Hopefully it doesn't hurt the station too bad in the long run, but there's a good chance it will. We shall see...1 point
