  2. I’m wondering if they wanted an anchor on both newscasts instead of having two fill-in reporters doing the 5pm? Although not sure I understand why Brian and Sarah didn’t just anchor at 4pm and 5pm ... unless Jim is also off??? I feel like we should have a 4pm anchor announcement in the next month, so maybe they are testing pairs? Even weirder, both Walter and Gray were in studio doing reports so they could have also filled in.

  3. That's great news (get it?)! Someone better now start archiving all his videos before his next and likely permanent termination!

  4. The latest departure from WNYT is part-time meteorologist Allison Finch. Her last day was Sunday; she landed a full-time met gig at a station in Springfield, Mass.

  5. I wonder if there is a stipulation in the agreement between stations that there must be two anchors for the 10:00 p.m. broadcast?

  6. The entire channel has returned as far as I can tell. I don't know what became of the offending videos.

  7. Today at 12noon Sarah is anchoring solo, but instead of saying Brian is off, she said Brian will be along a little bit later, which means that he’ll be anchoring the later shows. Makes me think that he will be filling in for Rick at both 5PM and 10PM, in addition to anchoring the 4PM. I wonder why they think it is essential to have a coanchor at 10PM when one of the anchors is off, but not at 12noon.

  9. At least he seems to be taking it in stride.

  10. The Breaking News banner is just so unnecessary and clutters an otherwise decent L3. Breaking News - LIVE - SPECIAL REPORT - NEWS. Choose 1 or 2.

  11. And a way to drive viewership? Make a half-hour or hour long show to syndicate on their stations. It could follow the "PM/Evening Magazine" model. Have a bank of stories that are chosen and promoted, and that drive viewership to the main channel. It could be localized in the larger markets, especially if it's a story that originated locally or in the region. And if all else fails, see if CNN still has the "jukebox" they used for Headline News in the 90s. Call me old fashioned, sometimes I just want to know what's going on at a random time.... And when HLN jumped the shark, the last days of the All News Channel was a good watch. They essentially did what Nexstar should have been doing all along. Using THEIR stations to present content to a national audience. We have to remember when NewsNation runs a story from one of Nexstar's markets, that local reporter doing the story is mentioned on-air as a "NewsNation reporter." So, if (let's say) a report on the recent blizzard runs on KDVR/KWGN in Denver (both Nexstar stations), that reporter on said station will most likely first use their station's mic flag for the local run, before using the NewsNation mic flag for the national run of that story. (The story, BTW, would probably air first locally before airing nationally.) It may sound kind of corny, but I tend to think Nexstar is also using NewsNation as a showcase for all the journalistic work done by reporters all across the Nexstar station spectrum. If one is a reporter at a Nexstar station and he or she is chosen somehow to file a report for NewsNation, this would be considered a major honor/accomplishment for that reporter. (Scripps sometimes does the same thing with Newsy, in which reports from some of their stations also air at various points on the channel's programs.)

  12. An ultra rare KFMB newscast from April 25, 1967, back when they still branded their news as "This Day 196X". There's lots of switching back and forth between color and black & white, mainly during commercials and field reports:

  13. While that seems like a shameless plug, he is actually a loyal customer of that restaurant, and the "Giangreco table" is a real thing, so it's all very on-brand.

  15. Or longer. Something this "easy" (in reality its hard due to logistical-related stuff) for sports leagues to figure out that cable isn't in the team's future has become extremely difficult for them and eventually, they will pay the price for that. Heck it's taken the leagues this long to realize that OTT is the future of TV

  16. Still hearing this voiceover, but only at 4pm. Hour-long weekend evening newscasts use the generic rejoin (Action News continues). I wonder why they choose to air this at 4?
