  1. So guessing the O&Os getting a uniform gfx package is, if not dead, delayed... 'PVI has played with the flat look before even the current in-house look debuted. Usually the weather team updates ahead of time - and that too still reflects the general look. Fall brought usual update to the Delaware valley's leading news program intros... and the 2017 look is alive and well.

  3. It does seem a bit odd, that tweet. But anyways, with all of the negative opinions of NewsNation on here... it seems like a lot of you just want to keep the blinders on. Just give Nexstar a break.

  4. Seems a little weird that they wouldn't just move Judge Judy up to 3pm and have a 4pm news instead, though Judge Judy tied KTVU for #1 yesterday at 4pm, so I guess they have their reasons.

  5. So they're just going to relegate People's Court to the CW? Even when Judge Judy will be on reruns from now on? I guess so... I know they're going for KGO here and it's an affordable choice but a lazy one.

  6. Someone mentioned it recently and boy they weren’t kidding. NN needs to sort out and clean up the camera operations in Studio 1A. Tonight they were doing way too much and it just looks sloppy with all the active moving around.

  7. Steve Friedman the producer then sped up the pacing - also was there for the revolving sets while they tried to figure out how to beat GMA - he was there early 80s to 87. Probably got feedback his new blue set was too cold for the regular viewers, gave it the Earl Scheib treatment and made it brown. I think Magid was their consultant - and they went to that textbook "plain background to let the talent pop and become identifiable" look with the minimalist 1983-85 set. Then Bryant and Jane got their chemistry mojo after she came back from maternity leave in 84. NY skyline came back in early 85 with the new living room set, and they overtook GMA that year.

  8. He spent some time here in Atlanta back in the mid-90s at WXIA alongside Angela Robinson during their brief "11 News (sans -Alive)" period. Saying this as a Black person: Yeah, in this day and age, this is pretty cringe and probably would've just been best not done, lest it got exactly the response that it did. But, seeing as the style of the wig itself was more evocative of Bob Ross, Gene Shalit, and Alex Trebek when he was the host of "High Rollers", rather than, say, a Don Cornelius fro, I don't think he meant any harm. It's one of those acting without thinking moments.

  9. The format fits the former WLFN-LP, as it was a prior Franken-FM (on 87.7 FM) broadcasting a Regional Mexican format. Having a local news department gives it some credence against WQHS, which has basically been a pass-thru for Univision and their partners ever since they got the station from Barry Diller/USA Broadcasting. Still think it needs to relay WOIO in some form to Cuyahoga County, since WOIO/WUAB's VHF signal has been problematic from day one.

  11. Nope. The new logo is very different from the Sinclair-era logo. Although it has the same order of positions, the new logo has that new wordmark inspired from the historic KOMO-TV logo from the 80s, whilst the former used Helvetica, in a style similar to the logos used during the final years of Fisher ownership.

  12. Given WATN is doing it, it wouldn't be that shocking to see WOI do the same tbh.

  13. The O&Os still have the rings on because with the Winter Olympics only a few months away, there's no use turning them off.

  15. They have been getting tons of views on their YouTube lately due to their Gabby Petito coverage. Some of their videos are getting tens of thousands or hundreds of thousands of views and they're getting a ton of new subscribers from it too. I wonder if their social media continues to grow, if they'll make any strategy changes (focusing more on digital), or whether they can convert any social media viewers to TV viewers. They also have been posting full videos of their shows to their YouTube over the past months. This represented a different strategy for sure, and I think a positive one.

  17. WTCN, Twin Cities, 10 p.m., 1979: The anchor, Stan Borman, is perhaps best known for playing a newscaster in The China Syndrome. I suppose this casting decision is one reason why the movie's portrayal of local TV news feels so real:

  26. Just to clarify that peacock variant is actually a transition as the L3 comes into view. It starts out colorful over the whole L3 then shrinks down to the bottom and transitions to 2 shades of blue and red for breaking news at the bottom. It doesn't stay that way. I was trying to capture the transition element although I really wouldn't mind seeing it like this.

  29. WATN is already using new mic flags and using their new logo in a lot of their graphics during their wall-to-wall coverage of a shooting at an area Kroger. The overall L3s, etc have not been updated as yet tho
