  1. With all due respect... So? And?

  2. Don't send one-man-band reporters out to do live shots at night on the side of the road-- ever. I don't care if the director was slow in cutting the shot or if the anchor can't see the on-air monitor or if the reporter didn't have a vest. You can't send reporters alone for nighttime live shots, especially on the side of the road.

  3. According to @rkolsen on the Discord, the CBS O&Os are debuting new elements on Monday. The wait and speculation may be finally over. Sneak peek: (h/t @rkolsen)

  4. I'm surprised they kept her up for as long as they did. I know it's the top of the newscast and a main story they're covering, but they couldn't shift to the next report and give her time to regroup and then come back to her? Also that accent of hers had me feeling like I was back home and I had to look her up. Sure enough, Tori Yorgey is a Philly-area native.

  5. I do like the blue variant of these graphics...

  6. CBS O&O graphics looks good. And if they haven't sold KUTV, WFRV, and KEYE-TV, they be getting the new graphics as well.

  7. Tori is headed to Hearst Station WTAE in Pittsburgh on Feb 1st, a station who always has photographers with their reporters. BTW, she should sue WSAZ and Gray for this. https://www.post-gazette.com/ae/tv-radio/2022/01/12/tori-yorgey-wtae-tv-reporter-penn-state-philadelphia/stories/202201120128

  8. I agree. I do love the network look.

  9. I am not hopeful. The previous CBS O&O look was uninspired and felt dated from the very beginning. Then the sloppy combination with the CBSN Local look. I do like the CBS network look that's being replicated across CBS Sports, CBS Mornings, etc. But I'm not hopeful that this will be done well. We shall see.

  10. They're still piecemealing from 3 packages: The CBS brand look, the 2016 O&O look and the CBSN look.

  11. They're probably just saying that these new graphics would be perfect for those stations. Unfortunately, all three stations have chain graphics.

  12. Maybe Alabama PBS is trying to get satellite must-carry rights in the Columbus-Tupelo DMA, which includes Lamar County and Vernon.

  13. When we're discussing about VHF-->UHF moves and LP-picking ("DRT"), a broadcaster willingly getting a VHF allocation is rare. They're not trying to reduce cap space. They fully anticipate that the UHF discount will be eliminated again, so they purchase LPs en masse to avoid the cap. Gray will reach 36% of all US households when the UHF discount gets eliminated.

  14. So some time ago KNTV updated their closing theme... It's one of the new cuts from LA Groove: https://streamable.com/qzwo58 The full ver can be heard from GrooveWorx's website: https://grooveworx.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/NBC-KNTV-Deadroll-60sec-full-mix-V-2.m4a

  15. Gray petitioned for tolling on K19KE-D and KKTM-L(D) in December due to tower crew availability. They'll be out at both sites in mid-February, and construction should take about two weeks. I wish they'd be a bit more precise about their wording. Lawton viewers don't *need* to rescan if they have a setup that's good at receiving the Grandfield transmitter. But they *should* rescan if they have signal problems or a setup that's not good at VHF.

  18. Number 1 isn't a reason, friend. WLKY uses Strive because all* Hearst stations use Strive. It's a group standard. *WMUR uses Hearst B because it has significant cross-coverage to WCVB.

  19. Why would WAVE, an NBC affiliate, use CBS Local?

  20. WAVE debuted their new logo on air today. They dropped the long time WAVE 3 branding for just “WAVE”. The graphics and music remain the same.

  22. Moreover, USA is the home of WWE Raw, which streams on the NBC Sports App, and WWE Network merged into Peacock in 2021. I can see Comcast/NBCU eventually repurposing UK into G4 and merging MSNBC with their NBC News Now streaming channel.

  23. Yes, yes, because THAT'S the stations' problems. Not the decades of mismanagement, budget cuts, and subsequent poor ratings. Really, most here need to get a grip. I don't want to say that CBS Local is a downgrade from modern Enforcer (though I think it is), but it DEFINITELY wouldn't be some magical problem-solver, either. More than just about any cosmetic adjustment we've ever discussed here, such a theme change across the board might be the most unnoticeable of all time, to the average viewer. Hell, I have no problem saying that neither Gari nor Stephen Arnold have produced the best adaptations of the WBBM signature. They just happened to be the powerhouse music companies of their eras, therefore most accessible for the average client.

  25. Two reasons: 1. WLKY uses Strive 2. CBS Local has been used on non-CBS affiliates before

  26. You would've thought they would drop The Rock for something different. I think CBS Local might've worked. The new logo on the standard Gray website banner is atrocious. Change the colour of the logo, now.
