  1. The post in this thread came first, and the news likely doesn't need its own thread.

  2. KMID got the KOIN graphics recently and that 2 logo reminds me of WBBH's or WKRN's old logo.

  3. Well, it wasn't an exit interview per se, but Colbert did devote a segment of tonight's show to Licht's news. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_rVUr3g5Gs

  4. Licht is an excellent choice. He made CBS This Morning a legit news program worth watching and improved Late Show with Stephen Colbert into a must-watch and genuinely funny late-night talk show. When his tenure goes into effect, I'll definitely watch CNN regularly again.

  6. That would likely be a WBRC satellite, as that is on the fringe of the coverage area.

  7. Gray has been on the ball with acquiring these LPs. They're getting another one. And its in a college town. They're getting Tuscaloosa, AL's WJMY-LD from TTI, Inc. for $225K. ___________________________ I should also mention regarding Memphis, that WYMP-LD deal was completed last week. The question now is whether Gray will keep that signal at its current spot near the TN-MS border, or move the signal closer to Shelby County. That is going to be something to watch out for. But I feel something needs to be done in regards to WMC's signal woes. Your core viewers should be able to receive Channel 5 over the air. I know Gray is still pursuing to switch the full power signal to UHF. But I would file a new app to move that new LP to Shelby, and once its gets the greenlight, get that signal lit up quickly.

  8. Some changes at WHAS. They've killed their morning brand of "Wake Up" and reverted to "Good Morning Kentuckiana" which is what they were for like 30 years before changing in 2019. They've also returned to two anchor newscasts at 4 and 5:30 pm, something else that was abandoned several years ago. The updated open has also been rolled out.

  9. Ali used to and he stepped away to work more with the college he teaches at and spend more time with his wife since the college and wife are in Philly or Boston I believe

  10. That's...not a terrible pick. I'm shocked.

  11. Colbert should given him an on-air exit interview. I'm completely serious.

  12. The old FOX 25 O&O logo still lives on the outside in Dedham.

  13. Not when they're operated by private equity vultures who seek to cash out for maximum profits. Soo Kim utterly ruined MediaGeneral and made a killing offloading it to Nexstar. They have to prove they aren't any more than a silent partner in this deal, which I don't think Apollo has the capability to do. I don't trust them for a second even if they eliminated the entirety of their stake in this dumpster fire of a purchase. As @Weeterssaid on the Discord, "If this goes through, the (39%) cap is proven to be entirely pointless". And he's right.

  14. It's only more accessible if you get TV over-the-air and your remote only has arrow buttons -- or your TV has an actual dial. Other than that, I get the feeling you have something against WCNC... I'm sure Graham, Hearst, and Scripps would dispute your characterization of them as "dead-end owners".

  15. Apollo needs to not have ANY stake in the new iteration of Tegna, and if that needs to be accomplished with further trades of Tegna stations to Apollo to recoup the balance of Apollo's planned stake, then so be it. Otherwise it'll be rejected on its face. For perspective, the Dumont Network died in part because the FCC considered them and KTLA and WBKB/2 Chicago to be co-owned because Paramount Studios (which owned both, neither of which were ever Dumont affiliates!) had a minority stake in Dumont. Thus, Dumont couldn't purchase any more O&Os when they desperately needed to.

  16. Why would NBC dump WCNC for Bahakel? I mean WCNC isn’t much better but if they wanted WCCB they would’ve signed on in 1978. WCNC is already home of the NBC News Channel headquarters and where would they go? What is HC2?

  17. Correct, that should on its own be a black eye. At a minimum, they need to divest (to an independent buyer) the markets that both are in - namely Atlanta, Charlotte, Jacksonville, Memphis and Seattle - to an independent buyer not already in those markets. This has Sinclair-Tribune written all over it.

  18. Standard General can't afford to buy Tegna on their own, so Apollo is allegedly a silent partner with no voting stock (*SNERK*). These station trades are proof of this; Apollo and Standard are simply picking the company apart just to buy it. Nevermind that Byron Allen offered significantly more for Tegna and was rejected.

  19. Fox nation shows are appearing on fox weather now. I had high hopes that they would be all weather all the time. That was wrong. What a joke.

  20. Two reasons: cost and a lower dial position. I suggested that WCCB absorb the WCNC news department so they would be the new home for the Charlotte bureau of NBC News. HC2 Holdings is a company that owns several dead-end LPs in the US and they're hungry for some full-power stations. They own the Azteca America Spanish-language network. 18 is a far more accessible virtual channel number than 36.
