  1. It’s refreshing to see a network like CBS no less who had a history of making their O&Os fairly cookie cutter take the time to do their research, spend time in communities, and really execute a brand new product that is a product of the city that it’s in, right down to the set design. It speaks volumes that they’re in this to win this finally with WWJ, even though the station has been the red headed stepchild of the group for nearly three decades. But leadership currently in place at the O&O division finally see a chance to make waves, and they’re blossoming something truly unique and exciting. Whether that translates into ratings and will unseat the market leaders WDIV, WJBK, and WXYZ will remain to be seen, however I think CBS will be okay with whatever comes out of it regardless. They seem to be focused less on trying to unseat the others and more focused on setting their own course in our growing streaming world. WWJ might be setting a trend for the next decade of local news here, which is something I never thought I’d ever say. The streaming-first community-first focus makes me feel like this is this decade’s WSVN-tabloid style in terms of trendsetting. I hope I’m right, because local news in general needs a revamp and badly.

  2. I have been watching since their launch and I am impressed. At times, it almost feels like they have been doing this for awhile even though they just started. Possibly thanks to rehearsals.

  3. That's planned for primetime. https://www.soapoperanetwork.com/2022/02/susan-lucci-provides-update-on-the-status-of-pine-valley-the-primetime-reboot-of-all-my-children-in-development-at-abc Because it's cheaper, does well even with low ratings and makes back much more money.

  4. Just bring back All My Children and be done with it. Susan Lucci hinted of a possible reboot recently as a proposed project by Kelly Rippa and husband Mark Consuelos. I miss the New York soaps. Don't know why we need Good Morning America in the afternoon.

  5. I think CBS News Detroit is doing way better than what anyone anticipated. WWJ is obviously targeting a whole new audience and a lot of people are tuning in. That interview from TVnews.net really spoke volumes. https://tvnewscheck.com/journalism/article/talking-tv-cbs-goes-live-with-news-at-wwj-detroit/?no_cache=1675554224&fbclid=IwAR3hARN5O_Io7MOlA7oQvGfVGLxgsmeu_dJpcBN6La-CF-HwsQHQLrWAL2Y&mibextid=tejx2t

  6. They were testing out the new studio this weekend. Star Harvey said in an IG story "Just a few more weeks."

  7. True… KYW was hardest hit by those racism allegation I’ve never seen Ukee (who deserves and now is the chief anchor) even get that emotional. I’m glad he’s the face of the station. Eyewitness News Is now an ABC since all there O&O are most-watched or #1 outright.

  8. Are we even sure that this is any part of the graphics package they’ll be using? It looks like an in-house mod of the logo just for that specific shot. There’s no L3 or bugs to speak of.

  9. KPIX uses the box logo during syndicated programming. AFAIK, they still use the old Group W logo for the legal ID during network programming.

  10. Why would KGO ever want to use the former brand that one of its competitors used for decades?

  12. I'm a big fan of his work! He did an excellent job with KIRO . I think the current issue with the Gray GFX is it feels way to flat. I know flat and clean is/was in..but some depth would help. If I had to take a guess of when WCSC will launch, I'm gonna guess right after the Super Bowl (even though they are a CBS Affiliate )

  13. Hoping it's a Matt Quinn design. This could be a much needed improvement for their legacy and Raycom stations.

  14. I mean it predicted the Eagles in 2022 perfectly, so in that way, the promo did serve its purpose in warning the NFC East about the Eagles (along with just...Eagles fans). But yeah, the fine is justified, if just a little high (it's more of a $100k violation than $500k for me). Just use a generic Morse Code alert next time, Fox Sports.

  15. I stand by my post. End of story. I was merely putting my two cents worth in.. I wasn't meaning to start an "affiliate-by-affiliate thread". Sometimes the moderators get power hungry on here and I believe this was the case.

  16. Like the KWCH post, this doesn’t really have to do with graphics (since the station is still using the Quincy package for now), but WPTA brought back the legacy “21 Alive” branding on Monday (October 17) after a six-year run under the “ABC 21” moniker. The logo introduced with the Quincy package was modified to replace the WPTA calls with the “ALIVE” moniker and to remove the ABC Circle logo.

  17. No wonder why they must've been delayed so many times since announcing their return to news. They wanted everything right and they didn't launch until the full quality was perfect. Take it like a company that was releasing a new product. You see something wrong with one of the new features. Do you release that product with the flaw, or just delay it until you fix it? A quality company would delay it, and that's the case with CBS News Detroit. By the way...you don't see many companies doing that nowadays

  19. I watched some of their newscasts yesterday. As @ThunderJay27 pointed out, they’ve already eliminated all verbal references to the “Eyewitness News” name (except for the intros). They’re ditching the brand, and it’s for the best. It may be associated with the station’s early history, but it’s also associated with a long period of low ratings, as well as the racism of the Dunn/Friend era (see this article; viewers even referred to the newscasts as “White-Witness News”). The name doesn’t carry the goodwill that it does in NYC, for example, where the “Eyewitness News” name actually fits the newscasts WABC puts out. I know KYW wasn’t successful the last time they dropped the name, but this rebrand is nothing like the last one. They aren’t completely retooling the newscasts with people nobody knows. The anchors and reporters are all the same. They’re even making a conscious effort to heavily promote Ukee Washington. The only thing that’s changing is the presentation.
