  1. I think this is the best studio in New York, at least the parts we've seen. Graphics look nice, though the lower-thirds and even the bug ruin it for me. Not a fan of the very thin text bar on top... Text feels squished in there. The way the lower-thirds and the text on the full screens feels clunky to me. But overall I think this is a very big improvement for PIX.

  2. Had to look back- but it looks like John started weekend AMs in September 2022. And thats true- during his entire PIX run John has anchored the main AM (with Suki, Lynne), 5pm, 6pm, 10pm, early AM , and now weekend AM slot. I must say him and Kirstin work really well together.

  3. Great to see the old set back in use, and in almost* the same condition. (*the EYE2 logo is covered for obvious reasons).

  5. I just saw a promo for “Talk Pittsburgh”, which premieres tomorrow at 3pm, and it shows the new KDKA callsign logo, which looks exactly like the one for KPIX. So, KDKA might be switching over to the new news branding tomorrow.

  6. I don't think the RSN situation has anything to do with the layoffs. These are weak stations in small markets with little potential revenue

  9. When you say ratings are better than expected...how much better? For close 30 years the people of Detroit has been waiting. On another site the set was a topic of discussion. Have they talked about expanding the set. The topics have been how small it's etc. The station has the space because it inside WKBD studios from their time from then FOX/UPN. Just want to know what discussion have been had. Their newscast seems great and slow pacing. Less crime stories, so overall it does seem a well put together newscast. WWJ news certainly & hopefully nothing like WOIO or WGCL/WANF.

  10. What a shame for viewers to hear that Doug and Danielle are out. Even though News 12 often felt like a cheaper version of the city stations, it was nice getting local news from people who know the island and you've trusted for decades. But with more and more veterans leaving, and the station apparently covering more city and national news, there's less of a reason to watch, unfortunately. Still plenty of good people in front of and behind the camera (and the new people may be fine as well!) but it's feeling much less familiar.

  12. Just to provide perspective, Nexstar is not the only company to do this. Not sure if it's online but, based on my studies (streaming on TV), most NBC O&O local news channels on Peacock and Roku, and Hearst's Very Local channels run delayed newscasts as well. So Nexstar is not the first, but I hate the fact that this is a trend. The good news for NBC local streaming channels is that I've seen them go live for breaking news, and I believe that the NBC Boston news channel is live as well when simulcasting NECN. So hopefully Nexstar can still offer breaking news live. But still, not justifying this dumb move at all.
