  1. I had to pull up the CBS Philly Vimeo because that screenshot felt like an April fool's prank. That 3 is... ridiculous. Absurd. Positively goofy. Also- it flies in the face of the "CBS Local News" rebranding and minimizing the old branding. The three is loose! No box, and towering over the "CBS News Philadelphia" logo. Presumably it will be boxed when the graphics ultimately relaunch, but I don't like what I'm seeing.

  2. It's been established that new graphics (whether a heavy update or complete overhaul) is coming, this spring, but whether or not they debut Monday is TBD.

  3. If you've only watch WSB to be informed about Atlanta since 1991, you probably have never wavered from North Georgia being a worst place to live than the actual country of Georgia, everybody is ripping you off and Clark Howard is a one-man army protecting Atlantans from fraud, and that the Olympics never happened and the Georgia Dome never existed, much less MBS; graphics also got really annoyed about having to change the state flag graphic even once. They have, and will never, change, and the day they become 'ABC2' will be on par with the moment General Sherman entered the city limits. (I'm exaggerating but when I look at WSOC's current 2002 weather graphics I feel physical pain and Cox has more a true art department than a graphics department)

  4. WFTX has been on a temporary set as of late. I understand demo/reno work is taking place in the studio to turn the previous hybrid virtual set back into a traditional physical set.

  5. Interesting! I guess the streaming broadcast has an automated bug overlay and they don't have the ability or interest to change it red.

  6. Just a quick update for in-season that the pitch clock is now within the pitch count/pitch type box more naturally on this one (and also generated in Helvetica).

  7. Not sure how YTTV picks up stations, but hopefully they won’t use the borderline unwatchable super low resolution SD WDVM feed on WDCW’s bandwidth onto their service. Another layer of compression on that would be… not good. (And to be fair, the news product is also borderline unwatchable!)

  8. Looks like Standard General's getting a sped-up appeals court proceeding. Whatever that means. I'm not gonna lie, reading SG's arguments in that article gave me a migraine. The more I hear Soo Kim talk, the more I want to see him lose.

  9. That 3 is hideous. I thought the channel numbers were only staying as some sort of transitional phase. They're creating a totally different logo and making it much larger than the CBS News Philadelphia logo? And it looks like it is a few decades old. What a mess.

  10. It'd be hilarious if, after this mess is over, Standard General ends up bankrupt and sells off its stations... ...to Tegna.

  11. Wondering if the new studios for News Central will coincide with a new studio for This Morning. From a programmatic perspective I would think getting the new studio for the flagship morning show up and running should take priority over the daytime lineup. On the other hand, the temp studio CNNTM is using functionally works, whereas the studios from which Newsroom has aired lately are not well configured for a 3-host panel with stand ups, graphics, etc., so I get the need to revamp those. We’ll see.

  12. That 3 is god awful and has no belonging there... please please please let's hope it's not used

  13. Was not expecting two different launch dates. I also didn't realize that the afternoon block would come from DC, but I should have seeing who the anchors are. I guess this is why Wolf Blitzer has been at a flash cam instead of the usual studio for the last few weeks, at least. I wonder if we'll also see new network-wide graphics on Monday or later in the month.

  14. I imagine since it's rolling dayside news coverage and not a personality-based show, they aren't teasing it. Dayside is essentially "have it on in the background"/"check in occasionally" programming vs. the more opinionated primetime shows or the morning offerings (where the most eyeballs are).

  15. It's not terribly expensive to make station merch. Just saying... /sarc

  16. WCBS did a special report from 7 to 7:10pm. On TV the "CBS News New York" bug and bottom graphic were red. On CBS News New York, the "CBS News New York" bug and bottom graphic were blue.

  17. Welllllllll...you're kind of correct. This logo has been plastered over on the station's creative services channel. While it hasn't launched, and could theoretically still change, it appears that the '3' isn't going away, entirely.
