  1. See, I think all of this is stupid. Not you. Stupid that they feel the need to have such an insanely bloated anchor roster, yet refuse to declare the vacant noon chair, and use a weird solo-solo split weekend morning schedule. But this is all for another thread.

  2. Talk about throwing your career away….

  3. They ran a special tribute promo 24/7 for at least a week and looked back at Corey's career each night in addition to a 15+ minute tribute tonight (his last newscast). I don't recall WFLD/Fox 32 doing anything close to the send off they gave Corey for anyone else previously. It was quite the emotional and heartfelt tribute. FYI- Like I correctly guessed, Scott succeeds Corey as lead/primary male anchor.

  4. This was missed over all the lineup discussion, but that's the first sighting of Rose Ann in years. She wasn't on the 50th anniversary of EWN stuff in 2018.

  5. You’re wrong or you’re misreading my previous post. GH was at 2pm on those three stations for a brief period of time (2012-2014) when Katie Couric had her show on at 3pm. https://deadline.com/2012/06/general-hospital-to-move-to-new-2-pm-slot-on-september-10-292479/amp/ GH moved back to 3pm on the east coast O&Os and a few other select stations after Katie was canceled. https://soaps.sheknows.com/general-hospital/news/39759/general-hospital-changing-time-slots/ https://michaelfairmantv.com/general-hospital-to-switch-time-slots-in-some-markets/2014/08/13/

  6. So the UFO stuff has helped ratings. But obviously at a cost:

  7. I guess that was a little surprising, but great to give it its own identity. Wondering if it’s going to be akin to 4 and 5 pm where one is a “third wheel”’who pops in here and there with a story or a genuine three-person anchor setup. And all props to Karen Rogers. All the prep work in the middle of the night, four hours on the morning show, inclusive of the streaming hour, now an added hour daily. Guessing then moon stays as weather-by-committee. Feel like they should give Karen the break on Tuesdays and put Chris on both Tuesday and Wednesday.

  8. It says the 10am show debuts Sept. 11 but I wonder what that means for WABC’s 9/11 memorial coverage. That usually does not conclude until noonish.

  9. This. They were the one of the few of not only station group left without a centralized graphics hub. Part of the implementation of that is getting everyone on same page running the same graphics system. That way you don't need to build insert graphics for multiple systems.

  10. I almost feel the article is missing something or is just wrong. That aside and not to speculate but could Sam also be winding down and maybe just do off camera stuff and special assignments (Weather or Not etc..) and lighter reports and let Brittany do AMs and Dani afternoons?

  11. The bankrupt Diamond Sports Group has sued Sinclair for fraudulently withdrawing as much as $1.5 billion according to Reuters yesterday. https://www.reuters.com/legal/sports-broadcaster-sues-parent-sinclair-alleging-15-billion-fraud-2023-08-16/

  12. The 10am newscast will be co-anchored by Alyana Gomez, Nydia Han & Alicia Vittarelli. Karen Rogers will do weather forecasts. https://tvnewscheck.com/programming/article/abc-owned-television-stations-announce-10-a-m-newscasts-for-wabc-wpvi-wtvd/

  14. Can we get back to talking about the current ABC logo and the new O&O graphics package please? I swear we get carried away by the smallest things in these threads. All I can say about the new O&O package now that we've seen the full package on WLS is... I don't really like the look of the graphics. It's too cluttered for a (somewhat) simple package. Very few packages have successfully shown the 3D look with simple gradients (both the current CBS O&O look and NBC O&O look). The only thing I can give the look credit for is the time, temperature, and current weather conditions ticker in the opens.

  15. Yes somewhat related...when Dennis Swanson took over WLS and turned it around in 83/84 one of his initiatives was daily reports of on-air production mistakes. When Gannett turned around WTCN/KARE around the same time, they added a position in-house to oversee the aesthetic / readability of daily on-air news graphics (more specific and tactical than a creative director). Details add up. Turn on a WPVI 11pm newscast these days and it feels more polished than the network nightly news.
