  1. Having the new CEO be the guy who used to lead both the New York Times and the BBC actually sounds like one of the best moves yet.

  2. The station was won for a golf club membership so ANY effort is better than none.

  3. I think Tegna was hesitant to sign in both cities because of the San Diego situation.

  4. My exact thought was “oh sh*t they actually wanna do News?” If he can lead CNN in the direction of the BBC in terms of straight forward, hard hitting reporting, no opinion, unmatched global resources and stories viewers won’t find elsewhere, CNN will survive and thrive. I hope it ends up being the best decision they’ve ever made.

  6. Turns out WLNY and maybe a few of the existing independents are getting the new “City#” logo as well.

  7. I guess CW Sports are one of reason, TEGNA's CW station didn't carry CW sports

  8. I know the press release says that and I know it's being pointed out by observers, but I don't think it's any different than how things have worked for the last several years. Zucker was deeply involved in all CNN content. Licht was, too, though he may have meddled less in individual stories. For all intents and purposes, it's not a change.

  10. Not to mention, sports. Also, WPCH is technically still a superstation in Canada… and considering that The CW is now running Canadian imports like Son of a Critch and Children Ruin Everything, this means those shows will join the network’s past and present American-produced originals in being subjected to simsubbing over WPCH’s signal on cable and satellite providers there (since the aforementioned imports are produced as originals for domestic networks like CTV).

  11. I mean, that “SuperStation” died in 2007, so this isn’t much of a change. They’re going from an independent that aired news and reruns to airing 2 hours of the CW per day (along with said news and reruns). Nbd imo, although it really shouldn’t have taken this long to announce this.

  12. If it's a lot for one weathercaster to handle everything between 4:30 am and noon, I would imagine it's even more for the anchors who are on screen more. I like WNBC's arrangement which has the Midday anchor be seperate from the AM and Evening anchors. I think the simplest arrangement would be Team A: 4:30-7am, GMA cut ins & 10 am Team B: 12,4,6pm Team C 5 & 11pm.

  13. The Tampa/St. Petersburg/Sarasota stations are all wall-to-wall with coverage at this time. And Nexstar is streaming WFLA LIVE on WFLA.com. These Nexstar sets make for interesting use during a hurricane.... Surprisingly, up in Gainesville/Ocala, only WOGX is covering the storm (since it's 10pm and sister station WOFL is live with news anyway). The Sinclair stations are in regular programmng with weather alerts, and WCJB doesn't have a crawl or anything at this point. Up in Tallahassee, only WTXL is in wall-to-wall mode while WTWC is in regular programming, FOX 49 is airing WCTV's newscast, and WCTV has a weather alert on the screen. The storm is poised to hit the Tallahassee market, so they would be wise to go wall-to-wall soon.

  15. Some really sad news out from the Queen City. WBTV has announced that the great Steve Crump has sadly passed away after his battle with colon cancer. https://www.wbtv.com/2023/08/31/steve-crump-beloved-wbtv-reporter-nearly-40-years-dies-following-cancer-battle/?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=snd&utm_content=wbtv

  16. Well with Mark coming in soon, probably so will changes to the schedule, including CNN This Morning. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but here I am anyway. I asked A.I to make a list of possible names that CNN could go with, if they do indeed decide to get rid of the This Morning name, here it is. - CNN Sunrise - CNN Daybreak - CNN Morning Report - CNN Wake Up Thoughts?
