  1. If the anchors of a midday “news” show aren’t medium famous, who is? More obsessive special interest fans aside, it’s not like they’re Hanks, Aniston or Clooney. Said in a bit of jest, of course. Seriously, however, the over focus on people’s love lives is just absurd at times.

  2. Wonder how much money they paid someone to press CRTL X and CRTL B?

  3. Per Vulture, Holmes was sleeping with a female staffer --on work premesis-- which was ABC's grounds for firing. I don't recall what justified Amy's axing. Aside from all this, scandals like these make you weary of going into the news industry as an on air talent. Especially at the national level, you become a public figire which heavily shrinks your private life. Arguably this is self inflicted but TJ's wife supposedly hired a PI who leaked the pics and made this a spectacle. Rickey Smiley was onto something when he said being "medium famous" is the sweet spot. Known enough to get into places, but not famous enough to be hounded by paparazzi and have your entire life in the tabloids.

  5. And apparently their exes have bonded over this and are dating each other.

  6. I don’t disagree with any of this but again these shows have built their strengths on the viewers connections to the personalities. It’s an unreasonable expectation to document childbirths, marriages and illnesses but demand privacy for divorce, absences, etc.

  9. Finally!!!!!! Ive been wondering why they kept using that wall. It looked terrible on air. Its been like that for a very long time it was frankly embarrassing how bad it looked. And it was making me think they are having financial issues. That looks so much better.

  10. I’m not sure I see news as low effort. People do put in work to do their parts and do it well. No one I know in that space dials it in. Are there exceptions? Heck, of course. There’s not an industry where that isn’t true somewhere. But people put in the effort to present content that gets viewers in a world where viewership is ever-more fragmented. But that’s just me.

  11. I never understood the degree of hullabaloo over two consenting adults doing whatever it is they do. The issue with their spouses is among all of them, not anyone else’s business. But whatever, what’s done is done and the world goes on, ideally not hearing one more word about their love lives, wherever they ultimately go.

  12. Cool to see, finally something cooking for the west coast ABC stations, and great seeing the Proxima Nova font as well. OK, KABC (ABC7 LA) you’re due!

  13. TJ & Amy have to stew in their mess for little bit, but does their offense rise to the occasion of never working in the industry again? No. Let some time pass. When their distracting presence fades, then they may be able to get a job again.

  14. I see "Local 8" as a natural transition there with "Local First" as their slogan, and since they already have one "Live Five", it wouldn't be out of the ordinary to see KVVU become that too. And I don't understand why dumping network branding is a bad thing at all.

  15. Easy, they change to “WVUE 8” or “News 8” or something along those lines.

  18. Ever since Fox picked up Smackdown, they have been marketing it under the Fox Sports banner. The show even has a page on the Fox Sports website. Likewise, AEW was marketed as a product of Turner Sports during the WarnerMedia/AT&T era.

  19. For that to happen, the other networks would have to really let themselves go. It's a question if and or when ABC. NBC, CBS and Fox sell their namesake networks to other owners. The CW as it is is purely a secondary network with station owners primarily operating it as an alternative or secondary station to their primary channel. They would only "gain" viewers (or not lose them as quickly as the others) if the others have major losses.

  21. A better look at the updated logo/typeface. MSNBC seems to be using the opportunity to do very small graphics updates, they have a new breaking news stinger that is similar to the old one but again just slightly different. They also updated all the virtual elements used in studios. Worth noting that “Reports” is now in the NBC font, maybe a sign of things to come.

  22. As someone who worked for a station bought by Coastal Television only to get terminated 2 weeks after the fact. LEAVE....NOW!!!!!!!!!!! They come in with all of these promises saying they will make the newsroom much better, invest in a lot of new equipment, provide better resources, the CEO (Bill Fielder) who is also a politician (if that gives you any idea as to what kind of person he is) will act like he is your best friend, has your interest at heart, then when he takes over he eliminates about 90% of the newsroom staff. He will offer you a severance of 1 weeks pay and an extra weeks pay if you sign paperwork promising not to discuss what happened. Spoiler alert, none of us did, and we all took to the competition and newspaper. This company makes Sinclair look like a 5 star company to work for. The guy who owns this is seriously scum. To those who work at KVRR and KQDS, get your resume and reel ready and be prepared to be on the chopping block if you do not leave immediately.

  27. And of course THAT had to happen somewhere. Pringles, Mastercard, ABC, NBC, and now, XXX (the) CW. Although after 17-18 years of the same exact thing, this feels like a breath of fresh air. It had to almost be predicted that NewsNation would get the shorter end of the stick. Just goes to show how much people don’t use cable anymore.
