  1. My guess is that CNN will join ABC and make the debate(s) available to others. Nothing is gained by maintaining exclusivity for the sake of ratings. As far as other networks counter-programming; despite being a re-match of 2020, I can't see anything being of interest that could draw viewers away from watching the debate(s).

  2. Having a poli-sci background, this is all so... incredibly... odd... As a candidate, you want your message in front of as many people as possible, and their reach is severely limited with just one cable channel (albeit, every network will run a highlight reel). Glancing at the link quickly, I did not see anything from CNN that they will remove the paywall to be able to stream (Note to CNN- that would be a smart thing to do). Second debate is slated for ABC (interesting choice, as former president Trump is currently suing ABC News and George Stephanopoulos) which does not limit reach as much as cable, but still just one channel. I am very interested in seeing what the other networks run against these debates.

  3. HUGE NEWS TODAY. The two presumptive nominees for President have agreed to debate twice. The first will be on June 27th on CNN. This will be the first debate in American history to be before September as well as the first to not be held by the Commission of Presidential Debates, this will be a network EXCLUSIVE. https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/15/politics/joe-biden-debate/index.html

  4. There's always Antenna TV and Rewind TV to take a game or two....

  5. Given that TNT's parent company WarnerMedia also operates NBA TV, I wonder if there is a scenario that "Inside the NBA" can somehow continue on that network. Over the years, NBA TV's studio shows have featured Shaq, Kenny "The Jet" Smith, and others, from TNT, after all. I haven't heard anyone specaulate about that scenerio in the media coverage yet.

  6. Nothing's official, even if Bill Simmons says that it's a done deal. I've been listening to many of his podcasts since his ESPN days, and sometimes he's been wrong about plenty of stuff. I'm not calling him a liar, but some of his thoughts comes from a "Bawwston" homer way of thinking. That said, if NBC does indeed take the Turner portion of the package, I hope they can find a way for the Inside the NBA crew to stay together... whether it be them or Amazon using them for pre- and post-game coverage. Meanwhile, ESPN will go through their usual shuffling of hosts and desk analysts, although their current lineup of Malika Andrews, Stephen A., Mike Wilbon, Kendrick Perkins and/or Bob Myers is actually a pretty good group compared to others from years past. Although, I would say that Myers doesn't have a lot of on-camera charisma (oddly enough, similar to Simmons, IMO), and Perkins can sometimes go off on some nonsensical tangents, but otherwise this group works well together.

  7. Bold of you for assuming that Nexstar thought any of this through to begin with when they wanted to be the leader of forgettable Z-level sports. But "all part of the plan," I guess.

  8. Last I checked, we weren't in Speculatron here...

  9. While we can still maintain civility in this thread, allow me to make a suggestion: Let's all stop responding to "dzonershow" altogether. Freeze them out, and act like they don't exist. At the same time, those of us who are also on RadioDiscussions should do the same thing to "DarrenVision". Perhaps that will teach them the message.

  10. Shut up. I'm not magic wanding anything. You have no idea what in the hell you're talking about. This is not a speculation thread. You are clueless and have no idea how things work. They will buy these stations and you will be disappointed when reality slaps you across the face. I will only ask this once. Do not quote me and try to prolong this as your time here may be severly limited.

  11. There is a Speculatron thread for Sinclair’s possible station sales that a lot of these comments can be put into.

  12. Community guidelines? Seriously? This wasn't a copyright strike at all? Michael needs to look into this. What were the details of the community guidelines violation? Was it a newscast or newsmagazine that had a report of a shooting or a rape case? It could also be a hacker like you said, thinking everything he was posting was a bunch of spam.

  13. I honestly hope that KTUL is one of the stations that gets sold. They’re a good station. They just need a bit of TLC. It’s a real shame how far they’ve fallen. Don Woods is rolling over in his grave.

  14. This ain't PBS, this is about Commercial Television Stations. They make money, that is the PURPOSE. Were talkin' about the owners of KOMO-TV and KATU, not Oregon Public Broadcasting or KCTS-TV.

  15. It still feels surreal that Sam Rubin has passed away. As a viewer of the "KTLA Morning News" since the 1990s, he was always one of the main reasons that I watched that newscast. I will continue to watch, but it won't feel quite the same anymore.
