  2. These were 2 big powerhouses that they desperately needed... Hopefully they can bring some normalcy to Fox Weather

  3. @Weeters I did reach out to WGTA via Facebook and they informed me that their association ended with Newsnet in 2023. They stated "No, we don't air the news at nine anymore. It was produced by Newsnet but the partnership ended a year ago." They just need to get Titan to update their listings. I knew WPGA ended the agreement when Gray took over and replaced it with a newscast from WANF.

  4. They did with the old one too. They had no qualms about doing wide shots.

  5. Scripps did Candance wrong along with Esabella I don't get why they let both go and in Candance's case why did she return after maternity leave and then let go 2 weeks later I just don't get that. Couldn't Candance sue Scripps for letting her go like that.

  6. Part of me wonders if they don't care that they'll lose in the ratings, and they just want to see whatever ad revenue they can grab.

  7. Not to mention, they currently looking to cut $500 million in costs.

  8. Paramount's trying to get the Skydance deal done, and they don't expect that to close until September of next year. So it would surprise me if they were interested in buying any stations.

  9. I wonder if this means that Ari will have a permanent on-air schedule now. I know for the past couple of months, he's been appearing at random, whenever the network needed him. This morning, based on what I'm seeing, it looks like Ari hosted Fox Weather First alongside Craig, while Britta moved down to Weather Command to cover the landfall of Debby alongside Stephen.

  10. Press release for Mike Seidel and Ari Sarsalari joining FOX Weather full-time. Two big gets from TWC https://press.foxnews.com/2024/08/fox-weather-hires-veteran-meteorologist-mike-seidel-after-more-than-30-year-stint-at-the-weather-channel

  11. That's a HUGE get for the network. If they needed anyone to help up their presence at the network, its anyone from TWC and luckily, that's him.

  12. Well well well, look who showed up at Fox Weather, starting today... Yep, that's Mike Seidel, who was laid off from TWC back in May. Today was his first day appearing with Fox Weather. Stephen and Kendall welcomed him to Fox Weather, also mentioning that Mike Seidel has been given the title of "Storm Specialist" with the network.

  13. Fox Weather @ Night returned to the lineup tonight after several nights off the air, as Haley was working various day shift assignments the past few days. Still fun having a show that may or may not air on any given night on this ever-reliable program schedule.

  14. What I don't understand is why WXMI let 3 mets go in less than 1/2 a year... Each of the girls that left (with the exception of Haleigh i believe) were told their positions weren't needed, yet they have a posting for a weekend meteorologist. Candace could have easily filled that spot seeing that she just came back from maternity leave... There's something fishy going on there....

  15. WBFS has now aired a 10pm since 2011 and they now air 9pm news from WFOR since last year. WTVJ did but canceled in 2008 amid the now-aborted WTVJ sale to Post-Newsweek. WPLG has now done so for WSFL since 2021 but just canceled their morning news in favor of Scripps News programming. WTVJ later tried at 9pm on NBC Miami Nonstop (WTVJ 6.2) for a few months but canceled before the Cozi TV launch. Regardless, NOBODY can beat WSVN at their 10pm game. I live in this market so I can speak highly about this (my default pic is why it is what it is). WSVN garners ratings at 10pm makes others jealous. Yeah, I don't see it surviving much longer since the 10pm news would be frequently preempted most nights by Panthers games, regardless of whether it starts early or late.

  17. Scripps needs new graphics altogether. This flat blue plainness is completely uninspiring compared to their old graphics package (minus the ad box on the left of the L3)

  18. Here are a couple of the opens: …and I get what @NYCshorty said, the graphics and open style would fit as a Fox O&O package, as components of it blend better with the network’s current graphics style than the actual O&O package does.

  19. Several network correspondents have left their jobs for anchor roles at local stations in major markets. The pay is comparable or in most cases better, hours are predictable, and there’s no travel required. For plenty of people, especially those with families, all of those things can be more important that just having a national profile. Bill Ritter, Liz Cho, and Rob Nelson all did this, leaving ABC News to join WABC as anchors. Before returning to ABC News, Whit Johnson had left CBS News for an anchor/reporter role at KNBC. There are countless other examples.

  20. First of all, being a politician should bar you from owning any journalism entity. Journalists investigate public officials and hold them to account of the public interest. Republican or Democrat, politicians shouldn't invest in those that hold them accountable. It's a conflict of interest. However, not all politician is the same. Don't paint with a broad brush. Those who follow the letter of law have no issue being held to account. It is those that are vehemently opposed to accountability that are the ones that are abusing our institutions and laws that are here to protect us. If organizations like Sinclair Broadcast Group and Bill Fielder (a party politician directly), are openly interested in curtailing the accountability that journalism is intended to enforce, then you can easily tell who is on the right and wrong side of the people and easily tell for which political parties they support. Period.
