  1. The video below suggests that it will also be in the news. Well, the old studio no longer exists.

  2. Never understood how Joy Reid was able to sustain a career in broadcast -- in liberal media, no less -- after posting a series of bigoted and homophobic/transphobic posts on her blog, then denying she wrote them and claiming someone must have hacked her, and after an investigation involving the FBI (yes, the FBI) proved no evidence of that, she still insisted she had no recollection of making those posts. Would have respected her more had she owned her past views, apologized for them, and explained why she was a better person now, rather than inventing stories and wasting the time and resources of the literal FBI to investigate her lies about being hacked. But since she never took responsibility for that, I'm not sorry to see her go.

  4. They actually did a double box like this while going back to regular programming for a bit, while there were active confirmed tornadoes, then going back full on coverage "when needed". I was kind of perplexed & disappointed.

  5. Gotta love a show called "Live" being taped two weeks in advance.

  6. Let’s talk about something that’s a little more substantial… Scripps recently released its latest financial report after a nearly one-month delay, and we finally know why. The company needed the time to basically shore up its debt and kick the can a bit further down the road. Even the delay itself didn’t buy Scripps enough time to have a financial report worth praising. Here’s the total numbers for 2024 (with 2023 in parentheses for comparison) for Scripps Local Media: Core advertising: $552.2 million ($598.8 million) Political ad revenue: $342.8 million ($32.9 million) Retransmission/distribution revenue: $764 million ($752.3 million) Political ad revenue clearly saved the Scripps budget, because core advertising took yet another hit. Retransmission revenue grew from the previous year, but not by much. Scripps doesn’t have too much leverage against cable and satellite companies as some of the bigger competitors do. But it’s also possible that the cable and satellite companies have little juice left to squeeze out. In short, Scripps is somehow still afloat, but the boat is definitely leaking. Former KSTP news director Kirk Varner questions whether the bad news at Scripps could be a sign that some TV stations may eliminate local news altogether in 2025.

  9. I guess Im in the minority. I hate everything about ABC News. Its like they are broadcasting from a darkened cave. I hate the lighting, when there is some its harsh and the talent is shadowy and the graphics are dark so it feels sinister. The sound is always echo-ey and the use of the metal on the set, such as around the screens and desk, always has hotspots. Everything is badly designed. I feel since they were moving to a new space they could have experimented. They didnt even get new graphics but recreated their old ones. But since audiences for network news is drying up...this exemplifies they are truly scare of losing more of their audience. I was hoping we would see something different. But to to rebuild the same thing. Yawn. I was suprised ABC News Live got new graphics. I like the channel, but sometimes I find the streaming channels dont always carry live events. NBC News Now is a big culprit. ABC is OK. CBS News is a bit hit or miss. I have to say Im not impressed with any of the big 3 network news sets. NBC gave up and retreated to the Today set and CBS is just screens and ABC went deeper into their news cave.

  11. Turns out the new updated package WPLG debuted last year is indeed spreading through Graham. WKMG has adopted the look (but is keeping the 2019 open, for now).

  12. Looks like it's spreading fast. WJXT has them too. https://youtu.be/GmCA88r9jE4?si=cGXStUnGnDQD-hna

  13. If you want more further proof that WPLG is still operated by Graham, here you go. Because it has fully spread over to WKMG. EDIT: However, WTF with that music? That's a questionable choice.
