  1. KOTV’s set is about to debut this evening. Set is the same that sister station KWTV has but has some tweaks such as the wall by the big 6 logo has a backdrop of Downtown Tulsa, the Bob Mills Weather Center doesn’t have the led crawl above the wall like 9’s and they have a telestrator screen for weather to use during severe weather coverage while 9 doesn’t have that.

  2. This is Studio 47. Mornings is moving to 57 (the former home of CBS News 24/7). They even showed a preview of the new studio on today's broadcast.

  3. Sky News coverage to be featured on MSNBC as part of commercial agreement | Money News | Sky News "Sky News has reached a multi-year deal with one of the most influential US news networks, MSNBC, which will pay for the use of its cross-platform coverage. The channel's live broadcasts, TV packages and online journalism are to be used by MSNBC as part of a commercial agreement, the details of which were not disclosed. All Sky News' British and foreign TV coverage is included in the agreement, which will begin on 1 October, further bringing the reporting to a US audience. MSNBC will have no role in the commissioning of Sky coverage, and no MSNBC programming will be taken by Sky News, as part of the arrangement. MSNBC is building up its operations ahead of its planned spin-off from NBC News and parent company Comcast. The new, separated entity will be named Versant and be a public company with shares traded on a stock exchange." This is actually really smart. Sky News provides high quality international news coverage but at the same time is very unprofitable and given the fact that NBC News (and American media overall) puts almost no importance on international news (no other western country has more self obsessed news media than America) Comcast really hasn't been able utilize Sky News international coverage, now they are getting MS NOW to pay for this coverage, while at the same time, MS NOW benefits from having access to Sky News which puts it at a similar level to CNN and FOX for the rare times American media decides it needs to cover international news.

  4. I'm glad they went back to the drawing board.. The WBBH version had some issues with visibility... The newer version is way better.

  5. So apparently the package WBBH in Ft Myers received when they became a Hearst station was suppose to be for all its stations. Company scrapped it and went back to the drawing board. Look at the "D24" 7 day from WESH.

  6. A network correspondent based in New York City has a high cost of living and can make just as much, or sometimes more, being a weekday anchor in a market like Denver with a lower cost of living. From his post, it also seems like a very personal decision. Children are much older and in college or on their own, and the location is a place they’ve longed to live in.

  7. Way back when, you didn't have the problem of mega station groups preempting a show...but there was KORK (now KSNV) in Las Vegas that was preempting tons of NBC programming including the World Series. Back then, networks actually paid stations to air their programming but they figure they could make more money selling local ads for other "local" shows. I think the impetus for their forced sale was putting their own ads over ones that NBC sold. Jim Rogers was trying to wrestle away the license from Donrey and succeeded after Donrey was essentially forced to sell to him under public and network pressure. If the FCC actually cared, we wouldn't have to worry about Station group "A" selling to Station group "B". Problem stations would be taken care of and forced to sell to someone else regardless. But this is likely next to impossible the way that megastation groups control everything now.

  8. Perry Sook attached a letter to employees when the press release was sent internally too. He said they had "constructive" discussions with ABC/Disney. He also said Nexstar "regrets" the earful stations had to endure (especially ABC affiliates) over some stations receiving threats and had hostile conversations with the public. It is no coincidence that both companies decided, within a couple hours of each other, to bring Kimmel back. Sinclair even had the audacity to say ABC didn't accept their so-called "proposal" (read: demands) to "strengthen accountability, viewer feedback, and community dialogue, including a network-wide independent ombudsman.” I wouldn't be surprise if Iger told them to pound sand and how dare they make demands on how a totally different company operates. I can absolutely believe that either: A) ABC threatened to strip affiliations and clearly wasn't bluffing B) ABC threatened to not give them SEC football (Georgia-Alabama is tomorrow, and both have a huge southern presence), Monday Night Football, or ABC News programming removing any reason at all to watch them or C) both At the end of an AP story: That would have been a disastrous headache for everyone and even NexClair realized they couldn't handle it.

  9. Well, consider the Tegna merger DOA, especially if Carr has his way with Nexstar.

  10. If anything this whole affair has proven that Nexstar doesn't have the public's interest at heart and that the Tegna merger should be toast.

  11. I'm guessing ABC made a legit threat and I believe that Sinclair had no choice but to give in. If Sinclair continued than not only would ABC strip them of their affiliations but they wouldn't be able to get new ABC affiliations. What had been adverted would of been WPLG on steroids.

  12. Perry put himself in a lose-lose situation now. Bring back Kimmel, no Tegna merger. Keep the ban going, no more ABC affiliations.

  13. God I hope someone leaks that cease and desist letter from Bob Iger and Mickey Mouse's legal team to Hunt Valley that caused this change of heart. If there's one media/entertainment company legal team I never want to see on the other side a courtroom, it is Disney's.

  14. Sinclair is going to tell it their way, when in reality, ABC was likely getting ready to throw down the hammer this weekend and Sinclair folded like a deck chair on the Titanic.

  15. Honestly I wish CBS kept the old studio 57 set from the CBS This Morning era and just enhanced that. I never quite understood why they felt the need to overhaul that. This design isn't bad though. Not sure how I feel about the "semi-virtual" look as the backdrop.

  16. I like it, but, I don't know, as of know, I prefer the old 57, prior to CTM leaving, more light aired, didn't feel cluttered. Interesting choice for the desk, it seems a little bulky, yet trying to be thin like the current and old CTM desks. Wonder where they made room for the green room as well, but I'll leave final judgement for Monday of course! Side note, I assume this means moving forward, election coverage will come 47. Considering it's basically a sound stage, CBS has an opportunity to basically be like South Korean stations and their election coverage, it's quite possible and I recommend anyone to do some research!

  18. I don't see anything wrong with it. This is for the 7am streaming show, not the TV broadcast that airs in many markets at 4am. I think it looks nice and bright.

  19. Still better than the 2000s when they were still rocking the 1991 vintage graphics and the dark corner of the newsroom for them and Up to the Minute. For a morning newscast that had been stuck with 'last man up' at CBS O&Os during the pandemic, it's actually fine.

  20. CBS Sports is celebrating 50 years since The NFL Today premiered... They really committed to the bit, from the open, well done virtual studio, and graphics. They didn't even use the ticker.

  21. Mike & Molly is completely out of syndication as of today; CMT and TV Land are done with them too.
