  1. I like John, so hoping he lands on his feet…Good Day New York would be nice! What a shame though for everyone involved…hopefully nobody else loses their job! Please wrap Kaity in bubble wrap, as she is the best over there still after all these years!

  2. I'm sick. I have watched the KTLA Morning News since its inception....July 8, 1991. The only OG standing is Eric Spillman. KTLA has had poor management and leadership in the past, but this takes the cake. Someone said it on the WGN thread....F*CK NEXSTAR!!! In any company, an employee is dispensable. This is flat out disrespectful that KTLA/Nexstar didn't allow Mark to say farewell. I get it--local management may have had their hands tied, but Mark overcame a stroke in the past few years and had other health issues about a decade ago.

  3. It all has to do with ownership (direct or indirect). Nexstar is doing this at many statins. They promise investment in news but this shows that is window dressing as to what actually happens. CBS issues under Skydance Paramount are well documented. Not to say WNBC and WABC are immune from budget cuts, but it's rare to see it have such a big impact as we see at WPIX and other Nexstar stations.

  4. Somehow Mr.G has survived any and all rounds of cuts and changes.

  5. For those not aware, WGN dismissed 9 anchors/reporters yesterday, and KTLA knocked out at least 3 on-air talent, as well. Now, after confirmation from a Nexstar source, WPIX has made some high profile cuts of their own. Gone as of today are: Kori Chambers, lead/late co-anchor Arrianee Lebeau, early evening co-anchor John Muller, weekend morning & original weekday morning co-anchor There could be more, but those are the only names we have, at this time.

  6. This is crazy. Wow. No send off for Kriski after decades? KTLA’s cuts make slightly more sense than WGN’s considering KTLA has something like 20 hours of news everyday. Easy to see who/why they cut where they did. Still it’s brutal.

  7. The firing of Kriski could result in some Lynette Romero-level fan backlash for KTLA.

  8. So are TEGNA's new graphics. But they are super super cheap. We'll eventually get to power point slides, when all creative departments are laid off.

  9. The same week that Nexstar cut 17 (at last count) high-profile on-air talent at their three largest stations, now we're getting word from our online & Nexstar sources that sweeping cuts are now being made across any and all Creative Services departments. Number of people and/or stations being impacted are still unclear, but this all appears to be part of cost reductions as the company looks to ram through complete its acquisition of the Tegna group stations. I'll post more details when I hear it.

  10. Yesterday, the 4pm, 5pm were solo anchored by Kendis, and the 6pm and 10pm by Shirley.

  11. Please send the source. John is a veteran since the Morning News Debut on 5 June 2000. He did a lot of contribution to PIX since returning on 14 July 2014. Seeing him go is another major loss for PIX. Just shortly after Craig Treadway resigned less than 2 weeks ago. My hypothesis is Nexstar was broke AF, knowing these veterans deserve recognition.
