  1. She not going anywhere, the station could burn down to the ground and she’ll still anchor the weekend newscasts.

  2. I'm not saying he didn't grow or improve, but I just think there's way too much weight being put on being passed over for a promotion on ONE occasion. Cecily & Adam are locked in on evenings, Karen was already on mornings when she shifted chairs, so all that's left is the weekend evening slot, where it's quite obvious they wanted to replace a Black female with a Black female. No conspiracy, hardly slighted, he was just...stuck. Shit happens.

  3. One of these days, Nexstar is going to lose the game they invented. At this rate, its a matter of WHEN a network pulls their affiliation when they balk at the rates and a pay TV provider permanently drops them when they demand too much money. They'll be as toxically radioactive as the former Fox Sports RSNs (which will finally die this year under MainStreet).

  4. I remember Chris in Chicago. The Chris Sowers Fan Club confuses me. Deeply unremarkable talent.

  8. I like how they’re trying to make it realistic….if you look at the fake floor light next to the weather man/left window pane, it’s not glowing.

  10. Regardless of timing, the idea that someone chooses something that fits their individual needs/desires/ambitions is entirely understandable. Yes, Sam had a good thing going, but making a move is not a sign of dissatisfaction with that good thing. At that point in his individual life, that was a good move. And wisely, he didn’t burn bridges. That doesn’t always give you a way back, but it sure as heck is a good strategy.

  11. Your timeline here is off. Comcast bought controlling interest of NBC in 2011. (A deal announced in 2009 back when media ownership reviews by the government took a long time.) Sam joined The Weather Channel in 2014 and left in 2016. NBC didn’t sell the channel to Allen until 2018. So your assertion that Comcast’s purchase of NBC and subsequent selling of The Weather Channel was in anyway connected to Sam’s departure from The Weather Channel doesn’t seem correct

  12. They've been heading this way since Paul Sr. and Jan met their maker. Moreso since Jan passed on, leaving Matt and Laurie in complete control of their "empire".

  13. NBC9 KUSA and MyDenver20 KTVD (under TEGNA) with FOX31 KDVR and CW2 KWGN (under Nexstar) all under one roof. Half the Mile High City TV Market blanketed by Nexstar. YEAH, THAT'LL BE THE DAY! Let's hope that day never happens!

  17. Netflix is in talks to buy the storied Radford Lot in Studio City. The Radford Lot is home to KCBS/KCAL and other shows. It has a rich history of being the setting for timeless shows like Gilligan's Island and Mary Tyler Moore. Currently, Netflix is housed in Hollywood on the Sunset Bronson Studios Lot, home to KTLA. When Netflix moved to their current home in Hollywood, KTLAs lot was outdated and dilapidated. They invested a ton of money into the lot and KTLA regularly does segments on the morning and midday news. The improvements can be widely noted on TV. Netflix In Negotiations To Buy Radford Studios

  18. Perry Sook offered a defense of the deal at NAB Show, stating that soon there will be only 2-3 TV broadcasters left in "local TV" (does he imagine the networks leaving their O&Os) and dinging DirecTV history of retransmission disputes: https://deadline.com/2026/04/nexstar-ceo-perry-sook-rips-directv-tegna-merger-1236867529/

  19. With this, they'll be Steeler connections all day Sunday this Fall with Bill Cowher on CBS, Terry Bradshaw on FOX, & now Mike Tomlin on NBC, wonder if someone (Jason Garrett perhaps) is getting the boot or is it an add-on.
