  1. I said the same thing. If he wanted to go that route then he could've brought up Gurvir indiscretions with her time at WTTG on Fox 5 DC ( when she anchored with her current husband ex wife who she was previously having an affair.) Now that's a story but not what he wrote. I wished he had a comment section but he seems the kind that doesn't take to well to criticism (dish it but can't necessarily take it).

  2. I never realized that KSAZ's Arizona Prime lasted into the Fox 10 era:

  4. I've been thinking and saying this a while now. Both Matt and Al were there 20+ years and its time to slowly phase them out. They've were good bit now you can see both are not as passionate as they once were.

  5. His story seems so salacious Gurvir will sit next to Davis on the morning news ; which Gurvir replaced Davis when Davis moved to the evening news. That was 20 years ago.

  6. That KJEO open might be one of the worst pieces of news open copy ever. The KGMC C-43 jingle has a classic JAM sound to it, too...definitely came from a radio package.

  7. And this is Arizona Prime (News) from just after KSAZ adopted the Fox 10 branding (although that is not apparent until roughly the 1:00 mark):

  9. KPNX 12 News Five O'Clock opening from November 1993. Not terribly noteworthy (we already had the opening from this set), but... Unfortunately, sports anchor Steve Pascente would die of a car accident the next year. (I thought it was cancer, but I was wrong.)

  10. Yeah. That’s when everyone who had Time Warner Cable already had NY1 on their packages. Especially after they had switched to digital cable.

  13. Ugggg... And the KGTV site has an ad blocker thingy on it. They might actually be doing me a favor by blocking it. By being blocked from the KGTV site I find... I'm nicer to people... I'm not subject to BS facebook "like" trolling... I no longer drink and drive... Women talk to me again... My gastro system seems more regular... EDIT: My E.D. is cured!!!! ...Now that KGTV has blocked my ad blocker.

  14. Not local news but very special. Today is the 30th anniversary of the "Black Monday" October 1987 stock market crash. Here is a ton of FNN coverage of the event. Coverage on "MarketWrap": A special edition of the "FNN Evening News", which was just uploaded today:

  15. Well they need to make money some how. The Now isn’t giving them much, even if they believe.

  16. The new studio is growing on me, however I think the pace of the news coverage should change. To me I think NBC needs to do more original content on Nightly News. Stop rehasing the same stories and have the anchor be more involved in his own newscast with him doing his own original projects. The stories and script are too similar, people have opened their eyes to it.

  18. I like Megyn Kelly - a lot. I know I don’t represent everyone but I would definitely watch Today with her at the helm. She’s that good.

  19. And Megyn Kelly is the answer? ABC and CBS sure hope so.

  20. I agree but I think NBC might be grooming Megyn to take Matt's job. To me Today show has been losing momentum the past 8 years but this the worse crew on Today show now. Al Roker needs to retire, talk about a played out character. Matt Lauer needs to go he is like a rotted fish.

  21. WEWS could’ve done it too... We just need proof that their TvBD opens debuted in ‘86 (did they?)... WAGA wasn’t using Good News until 1987, though, as they were still using “Tuesday8”:

  22. It appears that the layoff fairy swept through ABC 7, and a half dozen off-air positions were eliminated. As for on-air staff, a part-timer is indeed being brought in to fill the void as Laura Podesta's exit approaches. Hinsdale native Megan Hickey comes aboard from WEWS. http://www.robertfeder.com/2017/10/18/robservations-layoffs-cut-half-dozen-jobs-abc-7/

  25. The KIEM/KVIQ deals were greenlighted Tuesday (10/17). And a New M&A tonight. This is pretty unusual. Lilly (owners of WENY, WICU/WSEE, & KITV) is acquiring Marquette, MI station WZMQ for $103,475. And they're currently operating the station under a time brokerage agreement while it's awaiting the greenlight from the FCC. I'm not sure why Lilly would want a station that just have diginets, unless they're trying to snag the ABC affiliate from Stephen Marks (who owns WBUP/WBKP).

  26. Maybe they’ll fix their PSIPs. CBS is channel 16 (their virtual channel) and their Fox subchannel is on 21 (their physical channel).

  28. That's the thing...all of their shows do air elsewhere on broadcast and cable TV. Hell, in most of their O&O markets, their stations air Law & Order: Criminal Intent in off-net syndication and through the service (well, last TV season anyway--now it's the Dateline NBC reruns). KCOP, I just noticed, has split-up the MyTV schedule--first hour runs at 9pm, second hour at midnight. I know cable reruns don't always do well on broadcast TV, but if I was running MyNetworkTV, I would try to incorporate some of the FX shows into the schedule. I realize it'll take a lot of editing on certain shows to make it presentable for over-the-air TV, but it's a hell of a lot better than airing shows already currently elsewhere in syndication.

  30. The jingle on the KGMC station ID was JAM's "The Spirit of New England" jingle package, one of my favorites. It likely dates back to 1995, when KGMC was Fresno's first WB affiliate, airing about 8-10 hours of barter shows programmed from KMPH, and brokered religious programming and infomercials during the rest of the day. By the time this video was recorded, KMPH had moved C43's entertainment shows and WB affiliation to KNSO 51 in Merced, where it remained until New Years Day 2001, when it swapped affiliations with Telemundo affiliate KMSG 59 in Sanger (which became KFRE, which it still is today as the market's CW affiliate). Judging by this video, I can assume that KJEO likely bought time on KGMC to air time-shifted rebroadcasts of its newscasts.

  33. What? Something from Rick Thomas that's not from LA? Well believe it, it's the close of a KFMB newscast from 1975:

  34. Yes please! (I kinda prefer the Impact News-ized intro, though...) It occurs to me this name could not return today. Too close to Amazon Prime... It appears April 11, 1997 was the final telecast for Arizona Prime: "Channel 10 (KSAZ) has announced a name change for Arizona Prime News, the station's week-nights-at-9 news hour. Starting April 14, it becomes Fox 10 News [at] 9. According to a Channel 10 spokeswoman, no significant content or talent changes are planned."

  35. WAVE-TV's 1985 newscast in full. The opening looks a bit similar to WHAS's open with "Hello News" (seen on a NewsActive3 compilation). Also that WBNS '94 open in the NMSA as well as their '96 open incorrectly credit Jeff Laurence instead of Eric Gordon.

  38. Oh woooooow I remember ALL of those ads from 1993. NY1 was so revolutionary at that time being brand new and it was fun seeing it grow. This is the NY1 that I miss.

  39. The 1997 Peter Fish theme and the 2002 graphics is what I probably remember most when my family had Time Warner Cable before late October 2010. I was fascinated with how calm the music, especially when it told the local weather before going on commercial break.
