  1. For those that are fans of the RudeHoney graphics package used by Univision affiliates back around 2001-2006, I have a very special treat to show you! A graphics demo reel from 2000! Note some of the differences between the demo and final. Some of the opens are even blank! Please enjoy!

  2. I really like both Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil - individually. I have high hopes for the new team, if the rumors are true.

  3. And local news from 4:30-7 is too much, adding on an additional 2 hours will be overwhelming. They already repeat stories as it is. And the FOX affiliates that go to 9 or 10 already rely on infotainment stories, it’s not like they’re providing additional news stories. And for those of you who keep talking about how great Pelley was, realize you were in the minority. He did nothing for the ratings.

  4. My mistake on the timing, but they delay the Central feed. Station employees have told me of the complexity they have in covering over the East/Central-specific spots and promos that air. In essence, they are producing their own west-coast feed an hour early. My guess is this is a holdover from when the "tape delay" was actually tape. It gives them more room to recover from errors, and they could always tape the Mountain feed if something happened to the Central recording. Start recording primetime at 5PM, an hour out you need to switch tapes, rewind first tape, put it on standby, at 7PM start airing the first tape, standby second tape, roll on third tape... and so on! The fact this survived the recent Master Control hubbing is further evidence that CBS doesn't care that much. I'm sure it made the hub setup more difficult than it needed to be.

  6. GMA was created as a lifestyle and entertainment alternative to Today’s news and investigative format. GMA has gone way too the left of their original concept but they’ve always been the less-newsy format including the multi-personality lineups that each show sports today.

  7. (insert WWL adding the show to their station finally comment here) It's too bad the affiliates can't protest like they did in the 90s and 2000s and take back most of the 7am hour. I had so much hope for CBS in the morning, but with this latest chapter, it's the end of The Early Show all over again, and virtually any CBS morning show incarnation that's preceded it. The last thing we need is another clone of GMA and Today...something that CBS has failed at many times before.

  8. I don't see Norah lasting long in the evenings...she can come off as snotty and biased at times...the evening news requires a "voice of God" personality like Jennings/Brokaw/Huntley etc... The morning shows are really searching high and low as to how to get a better audience..... GMA needs to lessen on the pop culture non sense and return to the Gibson/ London era format. Today needs to simply go back to what they were doing when they were no.1: hard news, intellectual discussion/ guests, and return to 2 hours instead of 4 hours. CBS....if having a national morning show hasn't been working for 50+ years now, just go the Fox/CW route and give the affiliates the airtime for a 5-9am local morning show at this point.

  9. While not TV related....this is BIG news out of New Orleans, and proof that good old fashioned demand can overcome the stupidity and short-sightness of a lousy owner.... https://www.nola.com/news/2019/05/owners-of-the-new-orleans-advocate-buy-nolacom-the-times-picayune.html The Manships created a New Orleans edition of the Advocate in response to the T-P going to a 3-day schedule. Eventually the T-P relented and went back to publishing 7 days a week. The Manships ended up selling the Advocate to Georges Media, while retaining WBRZ and KRGV. Even as the T-P tried to undo the damage, the new Advocate pushed them into 2nd place in New Orleans. Now if only someone can make the other Advance papers (and clusters) great again. I know newspapers are a dying industry, but the decent companies are still putting out a quality product while those that slash and burn are getting wha'ts coming to them for their cost-cutting...

  15. Short (partial?) ABC Evening News broadcast covering Richard Nixon going to China, with Sam Donaldson (probably one of the earliest clips where it was obvious Sam had some cheap Astroturf on his head) anchoring. https://youtu.be/-CDu_xfEk_s
