It's "The Leading Edge" by Soundtrack; the production music has been used as a news theme during the 1980s and '90s by, among other stations, KCST (now KNSD), KTHV, WAAY, WCFT (now WSES), WDIO/WIRT, WEAR and WROC.

The irony in a Gatehouse/Gannett merger along with a Dispatch-Tegna sale kinda-sorta re-aligns the WBNS stations with the Dispatch.

Starting to get a little repetitive in this thread. Is the lack of someone telling you traffic times on TV in the year 2019 really THAT big of a deal? It's obvious WCBS doesn't care that they occasionally don't have traffic reports. If viewers were that upset by it, they'd be subbing the role. If it's not affecting the ratings, it's not going to change, and apparently not having traffic reports is not affecting ratings.

I remember a few eyebrows being raised a few years ago when it was announced that Peggy Kusinski was shifting from daily reporting to a special projects/investigative role, an odd arrangement for local TV sports. As an irregular NBC 5 viewer, I hadn't seen her much since, and was a little surprised when she was talked about as if she was a former colleague during a recent interview with her and her son on Sports Sunday.
