  1. As someone who was born and raised in Hampton Roads for 21 years (1990 -2011) I was mostly a WVEC-TV watcher with most of my intrest as a child was into weather and Jeff Lawson but when I was 9 (1999) I began to also start following sports and was always amazed when I started switching to WAVY-TV and Mr. Bruce Rader. I always enjoyed the way he looks at sports and it carried with me when I moved to Pittsburgh in 2011 and began to work in the Pittsburgh Sports scene. Bob Pompeani (KDKA-TV) has always reminded me of my childhood when I began to care about sports as a career but I owe my gratitude to Bruce Rader for gaining my intrest as a kid and always providing the best sports coverage in Hampton Roads for 45 years. If it wasn't for Bruce, I don't know if I would be working in sports to this day.

  2. Who made these graphics that KABC/WTVD had from 2000-2006. WTVD was 2000-2004. I liked them the look so ABC back then and matched the network look.

  3. MSNBC 1996. Amazing, futuristic and internet oriented. Nothing compares to it on tv today. WABC "Channel 7 Eyewitness News" late 80s-late 90s. Plain and simple but I like the frame consuming blue background, reminds me of interview sets from the 70s.

  4. Looks like February 2022 will go down as the end of an era at WAVY, as in addition to Don Slater stepping aside to become chief meteorologist emeritus; sports director Bruce Rader, the longest on-air person ever in the Tidewater region, is retiring at the end of this month. https://www.wavy.com/sports/local-sports/a-letter-from-bruce-rader-to-hampton-roads/

  5. Holy hell. Took them long enough. They're about 25 years late, but it's about time lol.

  6. WCAU's last package in 2000 before the NBC standardization. Brilliant package by Hothaus before they seemed to start cranking the same package out to different stations:

  9. Paramount Global, to be exact. ViacomCBS To Rebrand As Paramount Global

  10. I realize it's a globally recognized brand, but it's the tail wagging the dog.

  11. CBS as a brand won't go anywhere. It's got nearly a century of legacy on its own. Still... glad to see they went with Paramount instead of Viacom.

  12. And just as I grew to love (read: tolerate) ViacomCBS lol. This is a name they should've went with the first time (either that or CBSParamount) but personally I'm satisfied with the change nonetheless.

  14. Colorado 7 News at 10, taped about 7 months before KMGH's affiliation swap. Lynn Setzer is the anchor. (Personal note: I love that old circle 7 logo with the green mountains. Denver's TV stations have boring logos nowadays that don't celebrate the mountainous region they serve. Even KRMA, which had mountain graphics in their logo, dumped it recently when PBS had their major redesign nationally.)

  15. Is an hour of FWX really any different than an hour of "Better" or "Daily Blast Live"? It's in-house content that's one less timeslot to have to worry about for syndication. FWX has now been added to the Roku's lineup of free streaming channels. Flipping through, Accuweatner NOW is airing a feature on the Superbowl into a Superbowl/West Coast forecast, Weathernation is airing their typical rotating weathermaps and forecasts, and FWX is airing a canned weather special. Granted there was a brief weather update when they returned from commercial, but it's funny that FWX is the most "Weather Channel" option of those three choices right now...

  18. A little less than 2 years, from 1996-98, though the weekend show might've used it a bit longer than Jennings' weekday program.

  19. A commercial break from then WB affiliate WBFX-TV (Now CW affilate WCWG-TV.), in Lexington/Winston-Salem/Greensboro & High Point, NC, from August 10, 2000, just 18 days before they changed their callsign to WTWB-TV. At the time, they were owned by Pappas Telecasting (Now owned by Hearst & a sister station to WXII-TV.) & had cheap, primitive graphics.

  21. Big change at WAVY. Jeff Edmonson becomes the new chief meteorologist as Don Slater becomes chief emeritus (presumably easing into retirement) https://youtu.be/rFgV32hxmYI Congratulations to Jeff on a well-earned promotion and to Don on a fantastic career
