  1. As of this morning anchors are no longer social distancing and back to pre pandemic seating. That makes WABC the only station that has anchors still sitting further apart.. which if postings from the morning team are an indication that will be ending soon.

  3. Does anyone have any insight into the timeline for a graphics package change? Is it tied to when KCAL launches their morning news block sometime next month? ...or when WWJ launches its newscasts? (Any estimated launch date?) One thing to note (though perhaps unrelated), WBZ/Boston has not used the CBSN graphics package on its CBS News Boston OTT stream newscasts in several months, instead using the O&O graphics package.

  4. Doesn’t really look like anything that special. Considering all the hype.

  5. A part of me wonders if the fact that Kelly was airing episodes a day behind hurt the numbers

  6. Well, honestly, I would rather see the Kelly Clarkson move to either WXIA or WAGA, rather than it stay at 1:36am. If it must stay at 1:36am, then it would mean that ratings must've been bad nationally. If I were one of the other stations, I would not hesitate to get her show right away, bc her show, IMO, does NOT belong at 1:36 in the morning.

  7. I don't think that would be taking advantage of Shep's strengths. He's especially good with live newscasts and breaking news. He's not really known for being an investigative reporter.

  8. Shep is a really good and recognizable talent, and NBC will be dropping the ball if they don't find another spot for him.

  9. Bummer, I always enjoyed watching Shep whenever I got the chance, he anchored very straight forward news, just like he promised he would. I’m surprised NBCU didn’t move him to streaming. Based off the reaction from social media, it appears people liked him and would watch him else where. I could see him anchoring a news hour on CNN *if* it was the right situation, pay and format. 60 Minuets or something streaming could be options. BBC News is set to launch new World News programs based out of D.C/NYC, that would be a great fit. As for CNBC, I agree, they should just join CNBC World, it’d be better than shark tank and a great alternative to cable “news” channels. Interestingly The News isn’t on tonight…..

  10. I hate to correct the best post I've read in a long time, but it has only been on the air for 3 days!

  11. CNN This Morning has been on the air for 4 days.

  12. Sad to hear this. I just happened to turn The News on last week and was impressed with the pacing and other stories that are skipped by cable news these days. But it always felt out of place on CNBC. CNN is also going to be going through cuts soon... I can't imagine them spending the kind of money Shep would command in this environment.

  13. Mentioned it in Discord, but Chris Licht at least has to give Shep a call, right? It's almost too good a fit with the vision he has for CNN.

  14. Considering the network's muddled direction (not quite Fox News, but also CourtTV), this is more just turf protection for their FNC brethren than a political axe to grind. I do take a few things seriously here (especially the whiny timeslot hysterics). This is just more a case of an impatient media divo not understanding the days of his show getting 1 million+ are over and he has to rebuild an audience week by week and month by month with patience. If he wanted instant gratification he should've started a Twitch channel with Mr. Beast or something.

  15. A good rule of thumb that’s worked well for me: If it’s a sensationalist piece from the NY Post/NY Daily News, there’s a 50% chance it’s horsecrap.

  16. My theory has always been that Fox 5 evenings competes well enough with PIX11 that there isn’t an emphasis on investing there. Everything about the 5,6 and 10pm lacks inspiration. Aren’t they one of the few Fox owned stations that have never invested in an 11pm addition to the 10pm? It’s probably not entirely fair but they simply do not seem to take their evening side serious.

  17. He's just mad Frank Reagan is more respected on NewsNation than him, a real person. The entire endeavor is beginning to remind me of the Brooklyn Nets; it should easily be a well-run and loved team, but they have a bunch of people screwing things up and the ones trying to fix it just won't be heard, so they walk away for their health.

  18. KFSN is the farm league for ABC's O&O group, so they don't get a ton of budget to play with. The last set was nearly 16 years old and only received a minor update for the station's HD conversion.
