  3. Decades has changed its format and on-air schedule a few times across its history (including into what it is at its end), so it doesn't surprise me much. I enjoy the sitcoms reruns it airs and The Binge though, and I'm excited they will carry over to the new network, along with the new pickups I love.

  4. Many similarities to the WANF set, so far so good! Hopefully we do indeed get new graphics!

  5. The new scorebug has debuted. Looks nice. Don't know if this is new, as I'm only watching this because it's free but, the scorebug is interchangeable to allow any information on the players and other things like total plays. Expanded details on the players Flag piece of the scorebug Referee warning piece of the scorebug Booth review Touchdown: Eagles Touchdown: Chiefs These Touchdown graphics are very cartoonish. Even the images of the players are drawn. Scoring board information. I wish a variation of this worked with the Touchdown graphic. Looks nice and elegant with a touch of sportiness. The Super Bowl logo is nice and 3D, rebuking the now-typical flat trends Another 3D transition

  6. Weigel Broadcasting Co. is flipping its digital broadcast network Decades into the sitcom-centric Catchy Comedy on March 27, Variety has learned exclusively. The over-the-air network will focus on a library of classic comedies, with an emphasis on key female stars including the signature shows from Lucille Ball, Mary Tyler Moore and Carol Burnett. But also central to the Catchy Comedy lineup are key series from Norman Lear, as well as some of the most lauded sitcoms of all time – including the original “Night Court,” which is back in the spotlight thanks to the success of the revival series on NBC. Unlike Decades, which wasn’t measured by ratings, Catchy Comedy will be Nielsen-rated. “That takes it into a different sphere, in terms of advertiser availability and access,” said Neal Sabin, vice chairman of Weigel Broadcasting Co. “There are many advertisers that won’t look at these networks unless they’re rated, and we’re pretty confident that we have something here that will rate well.” https://variety.com/2023/tv/news/decades-network-catchy-comedy-night-court-1235521267/

  7. That's what happens when you decide to go the Nexstar route and do all of your set builds in-house instead of outsourcing to a third party like in the past. Quite a shame.

  8. This set is going to easily qualify as worst set of 2023. What is with this big v shaped desk. It's like they took some of Nexstar's shiplap and added led light strips . I can't get over this strange desk though .

  9. This thing is HIDEOUS. Very sterile. Could be popped into any market in the nation without a single tweak. Nothing about it says “Austin” or “Texas”

  10. WCSC went live with what I am now calling the "WANF" set design, but no new graphics came with it. Possible delay in that piece...so no updates on the GFX portion. Sorry to disappoint but I was just as excited as everyone else was.

  11. I wonder if new GFX is delayed. I heard from a reliable source there was new GFX on the way and it would make sense with the WANF look moving forward for Gray

  12. Agreed, I see a good deal of WANF in the set, which is good. Timeline of construction video : https://www.live5news.com/video/2023/02/13/video-timeline-new-live-5-news-studio-construction/?fbclid=IwAR3CT1LbRVn2unUeDXyue3_aV9AX1EQYSIsGHHbXSvJtbauWeFunyS5oN_Y

  13. It would make sense not to rebrand Showtime at all, considering it’s an established brand, plus the “Paramount+ with Showtime” naming scheme is very unwieldy for a linear network, even moreso when applying it to Showtime’s multiplex channels or its sports and documentary units… and don’t get me started with branding the network’s boxing and Bellator MMA broadcasts using that name. (Showtime underwent a brand refresh in August of last year, anyway, with a minimalistic black/red/white graphical look that replaced the shattered glass graphic scheme used since January 2011.) The “Paramount+ with Showtime” branding would only work in application to the linear channels in the way HBO co-brands its seven-channel linear tier with HBO Max on most pay TV providers, by only conveying that Paramount+’s ad-free Showtime tier is accessible via provider login as a complimentary offering to Showtime linear subscribers. If anything, Bakish and company should have thought of co-branding Paramount+ and Showtime as ParamountShowtime (a la the SkyShowtime streaming partnership with Sky plc in Europe).

  14. Pick a name. Either call it Paramount+ or just call it Showtime Extended or something. To call the literal cable channel Paramount+ with Showtime. Imagine what BET will be rebranded to. Tyler Perry's Paramount+ with BET, CBS, whatever shows we would have sold to the CW, Showtime, KCAL News, CBS News New York and everywhere else, Nickelodeon, MTV, Gayle King, Star Trek, Moesha reruns, Yellowstone spin-offs and other Taylor Sheridan creations but not Yellowstone itself cause we let that go to Peacock, who may or may not merge with Hulu, and also we aint got Comedy Central cause we let that go to HB...Disco...whatever the heck they'll call it. Y'all know you're thinking it.

  17. Atlanta News First is taking, note-for-note, what Gray did with WOIO-WUAB and fusing a bit of the CBS News playbook to it. WOIO was one of the first stations to embrace over-the-top streaming and rolling coverage online prior to 2020, championed by the same Eric Schrader heading up WANF. Schrader not only wowed Gray brass in demonstrating the simplicity of WOIO's OTT setup--it really doesn't use much resources--it played a role in their embrace of digital streaming and likely got him the Atlanta gig. Conventional ratings at this point don't matter for WOIO. What matters is targeting an audience that will easily access their newscasts, and by and large, they've been very successful. That's exactly what they've implemented at WANF and is exactly what CBS is doing with WWJ (you could argue that CBS News Detroit is more a Xerox of WOIO's digital strategy than WANF is). But it also underscores the democratization of television journalism. You don't have to be beholden to Neilsen's television ratings--a rather ancient and increasingly inaccurate method for audience membership--if you can make money and find viewers with a product that can be done with both efficiency and care. To that point, I think a market like Atlanta can support more than one digitally-based news services. If CBS wanted to make use of WUPA for an in-house news operation, it can 100% co-exist with Atlanta News First and both can thrive.

  18. During the Super Bowl pregame on FOX, they showed a couple of minutes of an interview with Michael Strahan and Damar Hamlin. It was an excerpt of the full interview which will air on GMA Monday morning. At the end they even mentioned for viewers to watch the full interview on Good Morning America on ABC. I know Michael Strahan is an employee of both FOX and ABC, but has this happened before where FOX basically ran a promo for ABC?
