So what happens to Al Rojo Vivo? That show runs from 5-6pm ET/PT, is it getting cut to 30 minutes?
  2. They take info and screenshots from TVNT regularly and post it as their own/"exclusive".
  3. Then better call XYZ, San Diego's Sponsor! LOL.
  4. Haven't seen this on air yet at KGTV, but there is a video on Youtube showing a graphic where they plug their website and a sponsor. What's interesting and neat is the Scripps lighthouse animation in the left hand side of the L3. Also the cut of music is really nice... [yt]Z_65LiZ2DkE[/yt]

According to KFMB main anchor Carlo Cecchetto on Twitter, reporter Steve Price has been promoted to weekend anchor alongside Marcella Lee. Price replaces Phil Blauer who was let go several months ago.

There were rumors a few years ago that XETV was going to launch a 6pm newscast, but nothing came to fruition. I believe that the former GM had mentioned his desire to add an early evening newscast but then he was canned. At this point, they're in a better position that they were when they first became a CW affiliate. I'm sure that they'll add one down the road when they're a bit more stable. They just added a co-anchor to the 10pm newscast last year and then there is the problem of constant staff turnover as well. Not to mention that they desperately need a new set...

So KUSI has quietly added a 5pm newscast to its schedule. Don't know when it started or if it's permanent. I'll check it out tonight to see who anchors the newscast.
  8. KGTV is running new promos touting its new fall lineup. Here is the afternoon schedule from 3-8pm... 3:00- Let's Ask America 3:30- Right This Minute 4:00- Right This Minute 4:30- Inside Edition 5:00- 10 News 6:00- 10 News 6:30- ABC World News 7:00- 10 News 7:30- The List So KGTV is adding Let's Ask America full time and The List. Inside Edition is being moved to lead into the 5pm news. They should have done a newscast at 4pm to compete with KNSD, instead of having another run of RTM.
  9. The temp set looks a little too good for something minor. Either they are refreshing the main set or they're getting a new one. They are WAY overdue for a new set.
  10. I can't recall if/when this new mandate was written into each affiliates' renewals with ABC, but I do know that in KGTV's case they added the ABC logo in either 2009 or 2010 when they had never displayed the ABC logo next to the 10. Someone on this forum mentioned the new mandate a while back. Another case of a station adding the ABC logo next to theirs was WFAA. And I believe that a station was required/allowed to add the ABC logo the next time they got a new graphics package.
  11. It will look weird, but it's not optional since ABC is requiring all of their affiliates to tack on the ABC logo next to their logo.
  12. The story was that a meteorologist at KXTV in Sacramento accused Lonnie Quinn and WCBS of plagiarizing his report by (as mentioned above) using the video but having Lonnie voice the package. http://www.mediabistro.com/tvspy/kxtv-reporter-plagiarism-is-alive-and-well-in-americas-number-one-media-market_b123733
  13. I'm pretty sure a new set will come as soon as their building situation is settled. Whether they stay at the current spot or move into a new building is unknown, but no sense of investing in a new set until all the puzzle pieces are in place. As far as the graphics are concerned, no sense in waiting for a new set as these were much needed. Who knows, by the time they decide/complete a new set, Gannett might very well be introducing a whole new graphics package. Megan took over on the midday news on 5/29.
  15. Do you think it could have been composed by 615 Music? Their former CSD who was there at the time they debuted these new music and graphics (Hothaus) packs came from KTLA, and KTLA has 615 Music and Hothaus graphics.
  16. I'm sure that The View costs ABC a lot more money to produce than The Chew. The View was doing so-so until Rosie came on-board and then the ratings soared because Rosie and Elisabeth would constantly argue on the opposite side of issues. When Rosie left (after the infamous on-air fight with Elisabeth), Whoopi came on board and the show started spiking in the ratings due to the political discussions. With Joy and Elisabeth gone, the show has lost some of it's personality. Then you add an airhead in Jenny McCarthy and the show really has nothing good to offer. Keep in mind, that regardless if Barbara is gone or not, she is still one of the executive producers and creator of the program, so ABC would still be paying her. They're better off cutting their losses and starting fresh. Going back to The Chew- it's cheap to produce, so I don't see it going anywhere.
  17. Taking back an hour from the affiliates might be more problematic than switching the 9/10am (or the 9 and 11am spots on the East Coast) spots with them. That is, if they do decide to cancel The View, they can trade the 9 am spot from the affiliates to the network in exchange for the 10 (or 11) am slot. Some affiliates have newscasts at 11am or 12Noon, and having some kind of syndicated program might serve as a better lead in than The View. As it stands now, The View is just unbearable. It was a lot better when they were arguing/agreeing/disagreeing about things, now it's boring. Plus with Barbara's retirement, the show really has nothing left.
  18. I think he'll stay at GMA. Where else will he go? CNN? Maybe, but he doesn't have that much name recognition that he's going to take viewers with him. If negotiations fall through, I doubt he'll go back to ESPN. No way that Disney allows that to happen. The thing is that even Sam's departure from the program did not hurt them one bit, really. Yes, the dynamic that they had before is no longer the same, but the transition from Champion to Zee has been seemless. They'll find a replacement if need be.
  19. The writing on is on the wall for Effron.
  20. They have a FOX graphics package that they plan to implement group wide, but that's about it. They could be working on a graphics package to be used on their CW stations, which would explain why some of these stations have yet to get new graphics.

    At the FCC

I think that he will eventually sell KSNV but only to a good owner who will agree to not reduce personnel- at least right away. The way the succession is set up makes it seem like it's an unstable place. Should Jim pass away, will his wife be interesting in running the business, or for that matter will Nevada's state colleges be interested in having the stations? Too many un-answered questions.

Looks like Janet Zappala is no longer with XETV. She was anchoring the 10pm newscast shortly before November sweeps began and her bio was put up on SD6's website just a few weeks ago. Now it looks like she's gone. Very surprising to say the least, i'm curious to know what led to her departure.
  24. I don't hear the similarities aside from the NBC chimes. We'll see what happens in the next few weeks/months.
  25. Is the music really NBC News Collection NG5? Or could it be an updated/new theme from Groove Worx?
