1. They won't do the 6 person panel too much. When Candace returns, they'll probably do it for a few days to get her acclimated then Joy will take some days off (she said so herself). So really, the only day that Joy is a sure bet will be on Fridays-- and days that Whoopi is off. That being said, I predict that all hell will break loose between Raven and Candace on a day when Joy is not there.
2. You did a good job, very thorough. I will agree with you that Michelle needs to go. Joy or no Joy, she was never a good fit for the show. Her "jokes" come at the most in-opportune times and even Joy looks annoyed. When Joy is serious, then you know it's not the time to crack jokes, and obviously Michelle doesn't get it. Raven... Dumb as rocks. Does bring a different vibe to the show, I will say. I agree that maybe she would best be suited for the pop-culture segments. Or better yet, have her become a contributor that has her own segment. Sherri was a good fill-in today. It seems like she doesn't look too comfortable with the other panelists. Maybe that will get better with time, who knows. Paula... there's something about her... I can't quite put my finger on it, but I just don't think she fits on the panel. She comes across as inauthentic, at least to me. Then she uses the "journalist" card, and quite frankly, I don't consider her at the same level as Meredith, or even Deborah Roberts (whom they should have hired as the journalist of the panel). Today's politics segment made me miss Nicolle Wallace even more. Ana was good, but she came across as real bitchy and cold to the other guest (Mark, something, can't remember). Joy did OK for her first time moderating of the season. She looked a bit nervous and lost at times, but that will improve. I did like how she pegged Michelle a few notches when she was trying to crack her "jokes" and Joy would say "whatever." You could tell that Raven and Michelle were a little bit more behaved with Whoopi away from the table... and that's a good thing.
3. Is money that tight at the NBC O&O's that they can't hire a co-anchor for the weekend shows? KNSD has two anchors on weekend evenings and on weekend mornings they have an anchor and her co-anchor does double duty on weather. Half the time, KNSD goes solo on Weekend evenings anyways, and KNBC for the most part goes solo anchor on the weekend PM's as well.
4. Always gotta take Radar Online with a grain of salt... That being said, as I previously mentioned, with all the changes for this season, the head honchos at ABC won't be putting up with Whoopi's bull. It was Whoopi who orchestrated the hiring of Michelle and Raven and quite frankly they were poor choices for the table. Michelle's jokes are cringe-worthy/awkward and not funny, and Raven is well... (I'll just leave it at that). Joy made a joke on today's show about not having their faces on the mugs and basically said that, that way it would be easier to get rid of someone.
5. She will not be doing any political work for ABC News. I believe they offered her a spot but she declined that as well. Sadly, the head honchos at ABC really handled the Nicolle Wallace situation poorly. If NBC was smart, they would pick her up for political work on the main network, instead of relegating her to MSNBC. If NBC wants to stick it to ABC, they should have Nicolle be a guest co-host on Meredith's (panel style) talk show...
6. Last year, they hired Wallace and Perez literally in the first week of September. Plus, they had an extra week before the show premiered so that's why they had a cast photo out on time. This time around, the hiring was done in August, yet i'm not sure why they waited this long to get the promos, photoshoots, sound bites out. I'm curious to see if Whoopi and Joy's friendship/relationship will become strained, and how their chemistry will play off on air. Last year, you could make the case that Rosie O. was hard to work with and Whoopi's attitude was justified, but if she continues to act like a bitch this season then there will be no justifying it. I'm sure she was blindsided by Joy's return and the move to live tapings on friday's but then again the show/producers/network don't answer to her. Hell, at $5 million bucks a year, she's the last person that should be complaining. Not many people in this world have such a plush gig that only requires you to show up to work for a few hours a day, 4 days a week. As for the music, I think that they wanted it to be hip/modern ala "The Real" or "The Talk". Sadly, they completely threw away a good update and disregarded such a recognizable signature in the process.
7. Here's a sample of the 2014 theme that I was talking about... http://www.networknewsmusic.com/wp/the-view-2014-theme/
8. Looks like the graphics will be a bit more subdued. Less reds and yellows and more blue and whites. The music sounds the same, although I wish they went back to using the updated theme they used at the beginning of last season. As for the set... I'm guessing that they're probably building a bigger desk, and maybe fixing some of the background elements on both sides of the video wall.
9. Even if the show does poorly, it will stick around as I doubt KGTV/Scripps will want to invest in syndicated programming to fill that hour. Who's to say that those syndies will fare any better? Not to mention that having The Now, they get to keep all ad revenue in-house. If they need to tweak it, they will but all indications are that The Now San Diego will be more hard-news oriented than what other Scripps stations have.
10. I agree. Although, if you've seen the new promo for the upcoming season, you will notice that Whoopi was the only one not to partake in it. They had to add a clip of her in. I honestly think that the ABC head honchos are not going to be putting up with her bullsh*t this season. They have too much invested in this show and quite frankly she has become such a poison pill for the show. I used to be a fan of Whoopi, but if you check an episode of The View from when she first started, to one from today, she has changed A LOT-- and not for the better. She has become so bitter and combative that it's hard to justify her behaviors--irregardless if she is correct on some issues. Also, the fact that she is imposing her "4 day work-week" schedule already shows that she is looking for a fight. I find it very interesting that Joy will moderate on Fridays. If things go well I can almost guarantee that they'll bench Whoopi, down the line. The good thing about these rotating guest hosts is that, if things don't work out with one of the main panelists, then you can easily replace them. Plus, it's very telling that they're even considering bringing Rosie back for guest appearances... Wouldn't it be something, if this show comes back in the fall of 2016, with Rosie as moderator? LOL.
11. Here are a few screen caps from The Now San Diego promo... Luckily I was able to get these screen caps. I don't watch KGTV much, and between the new stupid format they're using during the newscasts and the terrible weather girl, not much of an incentive to come back.

SD6 was supposedly getting a new set last year. Don't know why it never materialized. KUSI's set is 20 years old, I believe. I'm sure that it will get really wasted next year when it's legally able to drink. LOL. At least they're getting new live trucks (at the expense of a new set and other upgrades)...
13. I'm still not convinced that Matt will leave when his contract expires. Here's why: A.) Willie doesn't have the name/brand recognition that Matt has B.) With the stiff competition between Today and GMA, not a good idea to make such a big change(s). C.) With the Brian Williams situation, NBC may want some stability and avoid being the center of the tabloids. D.) Lauer has his supporters within the network and at Comcast E.) The Ann Curry situation has died down, and most people have moved on. Maybe in 5 years, they'll make drastic changes, but for the next year or so it would be extremely risky (and stupid) to make any changes.

LOL. At least they're not as bad as KNSD's which are literally falling apart, yet they keep using them/showing them on air. Go figure. They should do the KUSI treatment... use duct tape to hold the mic flag together.
15. The graphics package is only 3 years old. Too soon for a new one, but just right for an update, which may be sooner than later based on the new stuff that they've been pumping out.

And this is the station that still has the old glossy ABC 10 logo on the desk, 2 years after the network stopped using it. It will take them a year to remove it from circulation. That's how long it took them to update the ABC 10 on-screen logo/bug. I won't even get into the mic flags...

Very generic promo, lumped in with the other afternoon programming. I noticed that for the afternoon lineup graphic, they used a blue version of the graphics. I'm sure that they had no choice but to do it since they had several holes during the afternoon programming and they probably did not want to invest in syndicated programming to fill the void.
18. More like Grandma's living room from the 1970s...
19. Came across this today... I guess after months and months of testing the Nissan live truck, they finally decided on getting one.
20. A majority of the things they are "fixing" are things that they put in last year. Essentially, a year into this new set and they felt that there are/were a few things that they did not like and are now replacing. The turnstyle floor could have been avoided had they just installed wheels on the desk so they could rotate it.

Is WKYC still airing Indians telecasts or did they completely migrate over to SportsTime Ohio?

I mentioned it in the Scripps thread, but Dan Haggerty and Cristin Severance of KGTV will be moving to Dallas/Ft-Worth to join CBS 11 in September. Dan will be a weekend anchor and Cristin will be a consumer reporter at the station.
23. And i'm sure more changes are on the way. This station for the last 5 years or so has had A LOT of turn over. Yeah, it's a big loss. I'm guessing that had they offered Dan the 4pm show, he probably would have stayed. Honestly, he deserved it. Cristin was a top notch investigative reporter. Plus, they were really well liked. They still have Alison Ash and Melissa Mecija on TEAM 10. Although, I have yet to see any openings to cover Cristin's spot. Maybe they'll have Ariel do that? Who knows. If KNSD was smart, they'd try and poach Alison away from 10 for their own I-Team. Well, she may be the first female ND, but she is still under the auspices of the old ND... She may not exactly be able to have full control of who she wants or doesn't want. I'm sure all this recent turnover is making the others uneasy, especially when several, well-liked personalities have recently left, or will leave soon. Have you heard who else is on their way out?
24. Something seems fishy. Why would they bring in two new people to anchor one newscast, when they have Itica already on the evening news? Unless KGTV plans on dropping either Kim or Itica, this move is a head-scratcher. So now the evening lineup will be as follows: 4pm: Anne State & Ariel Wesler 5pm: Kimberly Hunt & Steve Atkinson 5:30pm: Steve Atkinson & Itica Milanes 6pm: Itica Milanes & Kimberly Hunt 7pm/11pm: Kimberly Hunt & Steve Atkinson BTW: Dan Haggerty and Cristin Severance will be leaving the station for CBS 11/Dallas-Ft.Worth. Dan will be a weekend anchor and Cristin will be a consumer reporter. They leave in early September.
25. I think that they're also getting a new desk. Not too sure.
