1. The WHDF deal is done. It was closed last Friday (11/9). The station's has changed its website to Nexstar's template days prior to closing.
2. Big news out of Michiana tonight. Longtime WNDU anchor Maureen McFadden announced that she'll be retiring from the station early next year after nearly four decades. Don't think we'll ever see another "sibling" anchor pair ever again.
3. They kept the "9" insignia, but it's behind a background like KRQE's. And they also got that damn desk too.
4. From Reuters. AT&T is accusing the DOJ of collaborating Dish over this carriage dispute of HBO. As you know, the DOJ has filed an appeal to try to block the sale of Time Warner to AT&T. And they suppose to go back to court next month. And the DOJ figured this situation here might help their appeal in court.
5. This is a first. HBO is blacked out on Dish Network. This is the first time in its four-decade history HBO has blacked out a carrier.
6. Surprised this paperwork was posted first before the Cordillera ones. They're also asking for continued satellite authority of its Poplar Bluff repeater, KPOB. Purchase Price: $24.5M.
7. New M&A from Quincy. They've announced this morning that they're acquiring the Harrisburg, IL ABC affiliate, WSIL from Mel Wheeler. WSIL serves the Paducah, KY, Cape Girardeau, MO, Carbondale, IL market. The term of the deal weren't disclosed. This comes after they'd announced that they're getting KVOA from Cordillera back on Monday.
8. Where did MyNet go? Did Escape move to 51.3?
9. And indeed, MeTV is moving to 8.2, starting Monday. H&I is moving to MeTV old spot of 51.2. Should've moved H&I down to 8.3, IMO.
10. About a year ago..... They actually use two different cues from Beyond for stingers. One for "Breaking News" and for "Developing Story".
11. Katie Couric is on Good Day this morning.
12. Nexstar made a case that one of the two (KRBK & KOZL) wasn't top-4 ranked.
13. FCC has greenlighted the KRBK & WHDF deals today (10/17).
14. And almost eleven months after it was announced, the KOFY deal is finally done. It was closed earlier today (10/15). Granite is only left with Syracuse's WTVH.
15. Channel 7 wrapped up the 11pm show early? It's 11:33pm/ET.
16. Did that 4pm show ever came to fruition? Or those plans were scrapped?
17. Non-consummation notices are now posted. The deal is officially dead. That's a shame. They could've at least close out the CBS portion of the deal since it was greenlighted. I wished Gray would've partnered up with Brady. They would've had a better chance getting everything approved that way. Let Gray keep the NBC & CBS, & let Brady get the ABC & Fox. But I would not be surprise if Gray come back at this. At least with the CBS portion.
18. New M&A from Brady tonight. He wants to acquire WNYS outright for $100K. Brady already owns WSYT Fox 68 in Central NY.
19. Thanks for the post! They made the announcement at the right time, as the Sunday lineup is about to begin.
20. The deal is done. WZBJ is all Gray now.
21. You forgot KCWE at 9.
22. It didn't waste anytime announcing its new 10pm show. It starts Monday! And Hearst has rebranded its CW outlet as "Maine's CW".
23. I'm not sure if they even launched The CW yet, despite inking that subchannel agreement on the 1st. I'm sure if they would've launched it on KCWH or KNHL 5.3, that info would've been posted on either 10/11now or the NBC Nebraska website by now. The CW zip code listing even says that KXVO is the "Lincoln" CW station, and not KCWH or KNHL.
24. Paperwork's up. $375K is the price. And they also have an LMA set while it waits for the FCC greenlight.
25. Okay. New M&A. Remember the Hoak deal, and Gray wanted to form a JSA with KHAS? But later re-sold it to an indie buyer (to please Wheeler) and move the NBC affil to its MyNet channel? Now Gray wants to buy out Legacy's KNHL for $475K, and turn this station into a "satellite" of (you guessed it) KSNB. Here's the contours of KSNB & KNHL signals. KSNB signal reaches Lincoln, while KNHL reaches as far west as Kearney. But significant overlap in between. And both of these signals are VHF low. Should this deal goes through, it would be a return of the peacock on Channel 5 in nearly five years. It also appears that Gray & Legacy have a "Multicast Channel Agreement" to carry programming (from KCWH-LP) on subchannel 5.3.
