The new studio is finished as of February. It's just a matter of finishing up some technical stuff before they can fully broadcast from there.
-
Wrong thread for that.
-
Not a bad choice considering they usually put out very good quality sets. WABC's new digs remind me of the recent NBC Nightly News set in a way just before they moved everything to Studio 1A (right down to the floating 7 in the ceiling).
-
You misheard that, as the anchor said their new studio is just a few blocks away [from their soon-to-be-former home near Xavier University of Louisiana]. The intent was always to have the place ready in time for Super Bowl Sunday, and by the looks of things, they're set to start broadcasting from there no later than after the game is over on Sunday. Imagicomm Communications plans to sell its TV stations
TennTV1983 replied to Howard Beale's topic in Corporate Chat
Locally-owned is a misnomer these days in a broad sense, especially with all of the mergers that have happened over the last two decades. While some of the smaller groups who own a TV station in the same market where they are headquartered have managed to weather the storm (i.e., Capitol with WRAL, Graham with WDIV, Sunbeam with WSVN, Bahakel with WCCB, etc.), they have the deep pockets and/or resources to do so, and could've cashed out at any time, but chose not to. Others are not so fortunate. -
Sinclair Broadcast Group - General Discussion
TennTV1983 replied to Smitha A's topic in Corporate Chat
Something Nexstar would probably consider doing as a workaround to having actual duopolies in some markets. -
And if they aren't sending those graduates there (or to WCBI), many of them will either wind up working at one of the stations in Memphis or Jackson, MS. It's bad timing also when you consider groups like TEGNA have been making cuts (WATN/WLMT recently saw two meteorologists leave for other markets).

Imagicomm Communications plans to sell its TV stations
TennTV1983 replied to Howard Beale's topic in Corporate Chat
Kinda figured that Imagicomm would ultimately decide to cash out after a few years. Outside of INSP and a production company that makes direct-to-video films, them owning TV stations didn't really make much sense other than just holding assets for a company in Cox/Apollo that was looking to dump stuff in order to make its own portfolio more attractive to potential would-be suitors. With ownership rules expected to be loosened (if not outright repealed), nothing should be considered off the table as to who buys who. There may be a trade or two along the way (I'll discuss the rest over in the Speculatron). -
Could you do any better than what Rey had been churning out?

TIL the GrayONE package was not simply just a Matt Quinn job, but was a project done jointly with Tristan Bresnen. Videos of Tristan's work can be found on his new website: http://www.redterror.tv -
Logically speaking, if the spun-off NBCU properties are gonna be under a separate entity, going with Sky Networks as a name makes sense (Sky News America, Sky Business, etc.).

WKRN has switched to the updated KOIN pack as of today. I have to take a look at WATE later to see if they made any tweaks to the WPIX package they started using a few months ago.

Is this area still in use? The last time I saw it on-air was when TWC was recovering from a malware attack a few years ago.

I would've split America's Morning Headquarters into two 4-hour shows instead of having it run a whole 8 hours under one singular name, but maybe that's just me. Have AMHQ be from 6-10am (5-9am Central) while re-titling the 10am-2pm (9am-1pm Central) block as "Daily Recharge" (a weekday version of Weekend Recharge).

The Fox 29 News/Good Day Philadelphia Thread
TennTV1983 replied to Jess's topic in Philadelphia News
You say that, even as several stations have picked up Judy Justice in syndication this season. -
I've noticed there's a heavy reliance on seamless LED paneling throughout the renovated studio. It's like someone saw what Sinclair did with WJLA and said, "Eh. We can do it way better." I do like the faux windows in the background that make it look like they're in a fancy skyscraper somewhere.

You're not wrong, considering Devlin's past work. Speaking of which, they're the one's who designed KWTV's new studio (with Vivid Zero providing new graphics): https://www.griffin.news/story/66e67eb88de4fa23ffadc7b9/news-9-new-studio There's also a hype package for this new look: https://www.facebook.com/GriffinOklahoma/videos/842137537681594/

Confusion and Kansas City go hand-in-hand in that market when you consider WDAF (4) kept getting calls from viewers about KSHB (41) and vice versa. -
I know Ravi was probably having flashbacks to another incident that happened live on-air years ago at the State Street Studio.

WYMT is technically joined at this hip to WKYT (simulcasting some of their newscasts), so they'll get a variant of what they have. -

The new look can only be seen on their online-only newscast at the moment as it hasn’t debuted on-air just yet. You can, however, see the new logo on their weather subchannel. -
The new building is virtually complete at this point - six years after the project was initially announced. In fact, there were articles posted back in February talking about just that and also some anxiety among staffers about the move to 7 Hudson Square: Page Six: https://pagesix.com/2024/02/16/entertainment/abc-news-staffers-on-edge-as-network-prepares-to-move-to-nyc-no-mans-land-hudson-square/ New York YIMBY: https://newyorkyimby.com/2024/02/disney-headquarters-nears-completion-at-7-hudson-square-in-hudson-square-manhattan.html As for your question about ABC News' move-in (as well as that of WABC-TV), unless plans have changed, those operations aren't expected to relocate there until the first half of next year.

So now CBS will be looking for their 5th or 6th anchor for the Evening News in a 20-year span. Is Shepard Smith doing anything? I feel like he would be a good hire at this point if CBS were to go that route.

I wouldn't know the answer to that, and I doubt it has anything to do with Jonesboro being adjacent to the Memphis media market (WMC uses First Alert branding for weather & traffic).
