  1. Current WTVT meteorologist Tyler Eliasen has been tapped to be the new Chief Meteorologist at WREG in Memphis, according to a new promo released yesterday by the station in tandem with Tim Simpson's announced retirement this past Friday. https://www.facebook.com/timsimpsonwreg/videos/999355947768392
  2. WREG Chief Meteorologist Tim Simpson announced tonight during the 6:00pm news that he will be retiring after nearly three decades at the station. His final day has not been determined yet, but he said on-air that he'll be there for a few more weeks before moving to South Carolina to be closer to his family. https://wreg.com/news/weather-expert-tim-simpson-retiring-after-29-years/
  3. Keep that guy away, especially with how Zuck ruins everything he touches. NBC, CNN, etc.
  4. They were one of the only things left untouched since the last update, so I wouldn't be surprised.
  5. All roads lead back to Soo Kim and his failed attempt to get on TEGNA's board via proxy a few years ago. He never went away.
  6. That's all Soo Kim had to do was unload the conflicts, but no. He wants to be stubborn like a mule with how he's handling this.
  7. That looks like a blue-and-gold variant, which I wouldn't mind seeing WMC-TV use down the road.
  8. The set is okay. I have no real issue with it. The graphics on the other hand just screams CHEAP. You can also tell that the opens tried to mimic the CBS O&O look in a way animation-wise, but overall, it just looks awful compared to the other stations in the market.
  9. Ellis' arrival comes as Brittney Bryant is leaving the station and news altogether. Her last on-air appearance was this morning.
  10. They'll probably give WZVN the WMUR treatment despite not owning that station outright.
  11. That logo is taking a page (somewhat) from its sister station WCTV in Tallahassee.
  12. Their current logo is a nod to the last one they had under Jefferson-Pilot's ownership prior to Raycom's purchase (albeit is not quite the same):
  13. Exactly. Conflicts are conflicts. Sinclair tried doing this with Tribune and got dragged tremendously, so why should Soo Kim be treated any differently in this bad faith of a deal he's trying to pull off?
  14. News Central was also something Sinclair attempted to do at all of their stations during the mid-2000s.
  15. Gray needed somewhere to park a future Telemundo feed in that market.
  16. This is how you give viewers whiplash, ladies and gentlemen.
  17. I think Comcast/NBC is doing this in large part because of the potential fallout we're likely to see with Bally Sports' looming bankruptcy. They smell blood in the water and want in.
  18. Wow. Just ......... wow.
  19. The proper term is "infotainment". Think Better TV under Meredith.
  20. How bad is it over at KCTV, ratings-wise, for them to cycle through so many NDs in over a decade?
  21. I haven't heard this version of News Series 2000 before.
  22. Ads have already started running in affected markets with a Nexstar-owned CBS station:
  23. I would suspect other station groups will do the same, especially now that election season is over and with market uncertainty being the way it is right now. You either cut back on spending enough to weather the storm until things get better, or at worst do rounds of layoffs.
  24. Nice guy, and a very good move up for him too.
  25. Per Twitter this morning, former WATN/WLMT reporter & sports director Marcus "Doc" Holliday has been hired by WMC-TV to take over as the station's sports director - succeeding Jarvis Greer, who is retiring at the end of the year.
