How long was this set used in Little Rock (when KLRT/KASN was their own entity) before it made its way to Memphis?
And reading more of Trevor Birchett's tweets, the old desk will be re-purposed by one of the high schools in Memphis for their communications program.
KLRT/KASN was on that set for about two years before the sale from Newport/Providence Equity to Nexstar was completed in 2013 and all operations got moved to KARK's studio space inside the Victory Building soon after. So that's a little over a decade of continuous use & re-use between KLRT/KASN and WATN/WLMT.

WDEF meteorologist Danielle Moss is leaving the station after recently accepting a job at WATN in Memphis. Her last day is tomorrow.

This looks to be more of a remodel/refresh being done considering they're still doing news in the studio (for now) from a makeshift area on the other side.
Removing the desk was step 1 in that process. Looking forward to seeing to what extent this makeover will actually go.

Channel 2’s Jovita Moore passes away after battle with brain cancer
I remember Jovita Moore when she was working at WMC-TV in the mid 90s. She even chaperoned a field trip I was on at one time in elementary school.
A brief article mentioning her passing was posted on WMC's website earlier today: https://www.actionnews5.com/2021/10/29/former-action-news-5-anchor-jovita-moore-dies-after-battle-with-brain-cancer/
My condolences to her entire family.

WATN is already using new mic flags and using their new logo in a lot of their graphics during their wall-to-wall coverage of a shooting at an area Kroger. The overall L3s, etc have not been updated as yet tho
I've also noticed the flags have text in the corners that read "NEWS RIGHT NOW". Could be a hint about the news branding come Monday.

They did the same for WATN too though
Not entirely. Just some modifications were done for the on-air graphics while keeping the logo basically the same sans the whole WKRC copycat thing.

Unfortunately the Local 24 news days are over.
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Big changes are coming to Local 24 and Local Memphis starting on Sept. 27, 2021. WATN-TV will rebrand to "ABC24 Memphis" to better connect with Memphis viewers.
WATN-TV became "Local 24" on air and "Local Memphis" online after it was acquired by Nexstar Broadcasting in July of 2012. In September of 2019, TEGNA purchased WATN from Nexstar and initiated a rebranding study shortly after. The ABC24 branding will come with new logos, a new web address, and new page name on Facebook, "ABC24 Memphis".
"ABC24 is already how the Memphis community identifies with WATN," said Sam Carolan, Director of Digital Content for TEGNA Memphis Broadcasting, "It's instantly recognizable to our audience. The new brand also makes a direct connection between WATN's on-air and online presence. "You can visit the new website here on September 27: www.abc24.com
I see. So, they're going with a WVEC-esque look now.

Nexstar also took a long time building the new set for WSPA, which finally debuted back in December after almost 5 months. There were supply chain issues, and they had to await shipment of robotic cameras. And they had to train the talent for staging in the new studio, which is more of a stand up set rather than a traditional sit down anchor desk. It has a modern look with multiple monitor walls and I believe it was designed by FX. Not sure what the issue may be at WJZY or who has designed the new set. But I hope they still have a sit down anchor desk. And speaking of which, I don't understand why they have the anchors at WBTV stand at the anchor desk. Just doesn't look right. I prefer a traditional anchor desk intermixed with some stand ups at the monitor wall. Hope that will be the case with WJZY.
No. WSPA's new set was done in-house, and has similarities to a few other Nexstar-designed sets that have rolled out over the last year or two.

The setup they had was unconventional for a news operation to begin with. https://jhdgroup.net/portfolio/wjzy-news-studios/
That's not a knock on JHD Group though as they do some very good quality work (and did come back to put in a proper news area), but you should never make your news studio into one big lounge.

WOI-TV in Des Moines went Full TEGNA as of this Midday, complete with a new logo:

WATN officially switched over to the full TEGNA graphics as of tonight.
Note: The live stream is currently down, so I can't record.

It seems that Meredith is indeed using the "effects" of COVID-19 to clean house of their older and more experienced (cough cough expensive cough) talent.
And they were just getting their groove on after their last set of management that pulled the plug on his co-anchor several years back, among other cutbacks and issues at the time. Wasn't he the heir to Dan Miller's throne?
That was originally given to Bob Sellers before he was shown the door two years later.

Excuse my ignorance here, But what is the Nexstar NBC Package? I know it is being thrown around but what is it?
It's this (as seen on KARK-TV and other NBC-affiliated Nexstar stations):

I’d say the WAVE package comes close. However, that seems to be more of a “Limerick 2.0” package planned for ex-Raycom stations so even that might be mutilated mid-cycle under Gray.
WAVE created their current package themselves though. Makes you wonder why Gray hasn't asked them to run their graphics hub even after the fact.

WDBD uses the same graphics as WLOX, while their parent station WLBT uses the WMC package.
It wouldn't surprise me if WOIO gets a standard Gray package at this point. Even before Raycom, Gray liked to switch things up frequently on their stations as new packages come on line.
The KWCH/WBTV graphics would probably look great for WOIO to use.

So, KTUL is back to being called NewsChannel 8 now? How long ago did they decide to do that?

On an unrelated note, it’s stunning that a station in Tennessee doesn’t have those call letters.
We do have at least four TV stations with "TN" in their call letters though.

WATN in Memphis has been using the updated look for the last couple of weeks now. I'll post a compilation on my channel later this week.
