  1. They have used variations of those logos and graphics in the past. Its definitely the sign of something new ahead but this has been the slowest implementation of this new logo and graphics I've ever seen. Almost all their promos now involve graphics like those. And based on the promos I've seen, they do seem to be going with "KMOV 4". It's time for a refresh, those Belo graphics have been in use for over 4 years now and they haven't aged that well.
  2. I'm getting a TWC/Spectrum News vibe out of CHCH's news graphics.
  3. WPGH only has 772 followers and WUTV only has 229. Other Sinclair stations with no news departments (both are outsourced to the NBC affiliates in their respective markets). https://mobile.twitter.com/fox53wpgh https://mobile.twitter.com/fox29buffalo?lang=en But WXLV has slightly more, they have 1,516 followers. https://mobile.twitter.com/ABC45TV Definitely shows the importance in having an internal news department when it comes to have a strong-performing station.
  4. Allman has also been fired from his talk-show on KFTK-FM. https://radioinsight.com/headlines/167725/kftks-jaime-allman-creates-another-social-media-induced-headache-for-entercom/
  5. If it's like all the other ABC shows, very poorly. All ABC shows perform poorly in STL. KDNL is one of the worst performing affiliates in the country. But the reason ABC doesn't do anything about it is because Sinclair bundles KDNL's affiliation agreement with ABC with it's better performing affiliates like WSYX, KATU, and KOMO (the affiliation agreement was made prior to them buying the Allbritton stations).
  6. Exactly. His whole program was a right-wing opinion based talk show so obviously Sinclair had no problem with that. But it's hard to defend someone when they threaten a high school student. But to be fair, I live in St. Louis and I didn't even know he made those comments. His program on KDNL is so low on the radar that if you asked 10 people in St. Louis about his show, 8 wouldn't know it even existed. I wouldn't be surprised if whatever is on KPLR at those times beat KDNL in the ratings. This was another sad excuse for Sinclair to satisfy their news requirements for their affiliation agreement with ABC. Now Sinclair has to hope that they are able to get KTVI or else they'll have to scramble to come up with another half-ass version of Plan B.
  7. Correct. https://www.opensecrets.org/pacs/pacgot.php?cmte=C00567388&cycle=2016 https://www.opensecrets.org/pacs/lookup2.php?strID=C00567388
  8. The music doesn't bug me as much as the bad CNN knockoff graphics.
  9. I disagree with you about SW Wyoming. Rock Springs/Green River are much closer to Salt Lake than they are to Cheyenne or Casper. And the Salt Lake stations including all the independent ones have been on cable there for the longest time. The only Casper stations on cable there are KTWO, KGWC (because of KGWR), and KCWC. http://www.allwest.com/pages/tv-channels.aspx The rest of what you said does make sense though. The only reason I can think of as to why the Denver DMA is so spotty in Wyoming and Nebraska is because the Denver stations tend to be the go-to for cable systems in regions in isolated parts of the West that couldn't get a local version of a particular network (because the Denver stations came in via satelite). I could be wrong but that's my educated guess at least. I do know that KUSA was the default NBC affilate in Rapid City for that period in time between KEVN losing the NBC affiliation and KNBN starting up.
  10. Although to be fair, KGWC is more deserving of this treatment than any of those other stations you've mentioned. That station was a joke. But then again, so is the Casper TV market as a whole. For a long time it was basically KTWO and everyone else. Then IMWC decided to bring some competition in but they still weren't able to compete. Now that Gray has taken over, Casper is no-longer a one horse town. Although with this Gray deal, who knows if that will change.
  11. I imagine that the cable providers will remove KSHB and WGEM on the Missouri side possibly WHO on the Iowa side and replace it with this new channel. Also worth mentioning that you can only get PBS on the Missouri side via cable which carries KCPT. The market sure has changed in the past 10 years.
  12. KOMO runs them during their 4:30am newscast. I'm sure Hunt Valley isn't happy about that though but I do think they have to be at least inserted into the regular newscasts.
  13. It's an interesting station that's for sure. As someone who lives in St. Louis, I'm curious to see how they'll revamp Channel 24, because it desperately needs an overhaul.
  14. It looks like the last Sinclair ABC affiliation agreement did include the legacy Fishers stations but was done prior to them closing on the Allbritton stations. http://www.tvnewscheck.com/article/79636/sinclair-renews-multiple-abc-affiliations Per the article, the remaining affiliation agreements still have some time left. I'm guessing that's including the Allbritton stations in that.
  15. That's pretty much the same reason ABC has put up with KDNL this long.
  16. That's what I thought too. Especially interesting since their competitor is a Raycom station.
  17. Is it me or do the lower 3rds on WWAY look familar? https://www.wwaytv3.com/video-central/
  18. If he was, that would be the first time a Sinclair newscast would be watchable. On a serious note, that was a really good article and really shows how they're just money hungry people who will say whatever crap they believe will help make them more money. That said, I'm sure we're going to see another letter from Scott Livingston complaining about how persecuted he feels.
  19. Doesn't look like KJZZ has a translator in Park City. Considering that it's one of the largest cities outside the Wasatch Range (and probably one of the wealthiest areas of Utah), maybe Deerfield thought it would be worth while? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/KJZZ-TV#Translators
  20. The best one are the WLOS numbers. There was absolutely no change in the ratings for the 10:30am airing right before This Week. But hey, at least they had 100% growth in ratings for the 12am rerun after Joel Osteen.
  21. It's one thing to keep viewers aware of what's going on in the world with things like ISIS and stuff like that, it's another to create a segment with ominous looking graphics and music to instill fear into your viewers into thinking that Trump is the only one that can protect them. And as Oliver pointed out, the fact that they use stories about the burka ban in France which has absolutely nothing to do with terrorism just shows how the segment is supposed to just be that "Muslims are scary". That said, seems like Sinclair stations will be seeing more of him as they have increased the number of must run segments from 3 to 9. I'm sure the fact his Administration is plunging deeper into a crisis as this decision was made is a complete coincidence. That said, it doesn't seem wise to add segments from someone who is Russian as the Administration you're backing is involved in a controversy over how close its ties to Russia are. http://thehill.com/homenews/media/341336-sinclair-boosting-airtime-for-former-trump-official-epshteyn
  22. Miami news in general is poor taste. WSVN is one of (if not) the highest rated English-language stations in Miami so all the other stations try to be like them with the sensationalism and the "if it bleeds, it leads" approach. Wish I knew some Spanish because I'd rather watch WLTV or WSCV for news if I could.
  23. I've always been curious how they're able to access news segments from seemingly every TV station in the country. Here is the whole segment which was the main segment of the night and is 19 minutes long.
  24. You mean this? http://www.arkansasmatters.com/news/local-news/update-25-shot-3-others-injured-at-downtown-lr-music-venue/755522298 Gee, I wonder where I've seen those graphics before.
  25. Add it to the list of things the Simpsons prophesied:
