  1. KTVI went through a litany of changes in the late '70s. Can't keep track of the anchor changes, set changes, news themes.
  2. Alan Henry, who was president of Gulf Broadcast Group and oversaw WTSP's turnaround in that era, dedicated an entire chapter of a book about his career to WTSP and what a "dog" WLCY-TV was and how the Rahall's had the worst reputation in broadcast TV. The new ownership invested a ton of money turning around the station. He said that they invested in a first class image for the station's on-air look. I'd love to see the opens/image promos. But I can't get over how spartan their set was! I think the "newsroom" is actually fake.
  3. Tampa/St. Pete news previews from 1983. The first from WTSP, which had a very dull (newsroom?) set going. This does confirm their "Stay in Touch with 10" theme did start in 1983: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=Nt2f-PgTIac;m=8;s=36 This one from WXFL and the legendary Bill Ratliff at the anchor desk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=p8LDq0wNj28;m=9;s=7
  4. WTVT from 1984/85 with promos, news updates, and part of an open at the end: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=pTBf6Jw2mzc;t=22
  5. From Tampa/St. Pete, some kinda rare footage from WTSP before longtime anchor John Wilson departed for WTVT. Co-anchor Sheryl Browne also left that year.
  6. The local inserts on Satellite News Channel are really interesting. I thought Headline News was the only cable network to do that in the mid/late '90s.
  7. WXFL news update 1987: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=9xDEQMSL048;t=22
  8. For the Columbus folks, a great WBNS news promo circa 1980. Bunch more on this channel
  9. This was a fairly popular design. WAGA, WPBF, WAFB and WTSP had the same newsdesk.
  10. Former (current?) TWC OCM Mike Seidel has a bunch of local affiliate weather promos
  11. That KTEW open is great. At :44, I believe John McDonald would go on to work at KMTV alongside several 'legends' Chuck Roberts, Dale Hansen and Dick Fletcher.
  12. Great clips from WTVJ-4 when it was CBS for South Florida on this channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=B7EFODMIYc0;m=2;s=2
  13. WWSB news updates and two opens toward the end from 1995:
  14. There are some vintage news clips from WXFL, KBTV, WCKT and others here (some might have been elsewhere on YT): https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBR9QOS3QWy9_rzaWUTLfjw Check it out fast, because I'm afraid this channel is gonna get pulled by YouTube for copyright!
  15. Not to be critical, but many of these have been previously posted. (the Cincinnati stuff)
  16. Don't think this has been posted before; WCIA 1976 newscast with "MCTYW" open: http://www.illinoishomepage.net/vault/1976-primary-election-coverage-the-channel-3-news-at-1000pm/400513950
  17. Disgusted by Tegna's 'overhaul' of WTSP!!
  18. Neat clip from WXFL (now WFLA) from 1988. Noon news with Bill Ratliff, Barbara Callahan and Jim Smith, who worked at WXYZ for several years in the 70s:
  19. KTVI footage from the 1970s. Haven't found any news opens, but there is a brief look at the set (similar to WTHR circa 1979) to bookend this clip:
  20. KOOL news open from 1971: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id=r2IO8QsmdU0;t=24 There's also a news open at 2:57, but not sure what station, could be KNXT?
  21. From Nashville, a WSMV 1983 newscast with open at 1:40
  22. Random thought here...but I picked up on the fact that WCMH had a customized version of "Prime News". I always thought it sounded different from the KSAZ or WDAF versions. If you listen closely at the end, you can hear a musical "Where News Comes First" signature. No expert here, but I don't believe any other station used that particular signature.
  23. A bunch of KOLD promos on this channel. This promo features Lou Waters, who would go on to CNN:
  24. KOLD used "Look for Us" by Telesound circa 1979. The close starts at :30
  25. NMSA finally uploaded the "New Standard and Tradition" open from WXIA circa 1981. Only problem is it is listed under "WXIA 1978" theme by Peters.
