  1. Sylvia Perez announced today that Brian Jackson will be joining her as co-anchor at Noon. I believe he will still appear on GDC, albeit in a reduced role. Also, the 3-anchor format has been reintroduced on Good Day (from 6-9A). The 9A hr. remains unchanged and it appears they will be going with a solo anchor from 4:30-6A. Don’t know who the solo anchor will be however. Roseanne Tellez has been MIA (which is a bit concerning). Hopefully she hasn’t been cut.
  2. I'm curious what the thought-process was when it came to designing each program's set. Aside from the WABC set (which is great), all the others are pretty ho-hum. Because WNT shares their space with both This Week and 20/20; I get not wanting to do something too different because it could effect the overall look/feel of all three programs. And from what I hear, the new GMA set/studio is a step down from the Time Square set/studio. We shall see...
  3. I agree the program names are generic, but they could be trying to create a brand (i.e. Today Show / Tonight Show, etc...) with the Weeknight and the Weekend AM/PM. My immediate concern is having a network president who may favor programs, people, etc... she had a hand in creating/developing instead of doing what's best for the overall network.
  4. Getting some afternoon White Sox games shouldn't be an issue. Trying to air a handful of Bulls and Blackhawks games would be very complicated. All three teams are pretty bad and I'm not sure it's worth the effort on WGN's part unless the idea is air local sports regardless of a team's performance. Would there be a big enough financial return at the end of the day???
  5. WGN interested in airing Chicago Sports Network broadcasts, confident a deal can work 'WGN TV is interested in carrying local sports again and believes there’s a path to air Chicago Sports Network broadcasts of the White Sox, Bulls and Blackhawks that much of the area has missed, the Sun-Times has learned. The sides would have to sort out a lot of details, such as how many games would be included and who would sell advertising for them. Though WGN isn’t positioned to pay a substantial rights fee — the teams would have to treat it as a marketing expense — it could deliver the teams their largest TV audience since they launched CHSN in October.'
  6. Pop Culture Jeopardy airs exclusively on Prime, so I wouldn’t rule out Amazon as far as streaming is concerned. Can’t see Netflix being interested, but you never know.
  7. I would assume both DeMarco and Eva are safe, but you never know. With the rumors of Strahan likely leaving (at year’s end) and Stephanopoulos being unhappy; it sounds like there are bigger issues to worry about at GMA. Plus, there is speculation that Robin, George and Michael don’t want to take on an additional hour, so that may work in DeMarco’s and Eva’s favor (if the plan is to have 4 co-hosts).
  8. They (DeMarco) still referred to the program as GMA3 in a teaser I saw this morning on WLS-TV (which also included the GMA3 logo). Plus, there is still a separate link/section for GMA3 on the main GMA website, so they haven’t completely given up on the name just yet.
  9. Given the amount of money that went into making 7 Hudson a reality, I’m not surprised they would take whatever opportunity to ‘showcase’ it whenever possible. Also, the official name of 7 Hudson is the ‘Robert A. Iger Building’, so there’s that….
  10. From what I can gather (from a quick google search) is that ratings haven’t been good for GMA3. In addition, ABC wants everything placed under the GMA banner (eliminating the staff of GMA3, etc…). This appears to be a part of bigger changes expected to happen over the coming months.
  11. If they were to drop Colbert, they could bring back a new version of ‘Crimetime After Primetime’. I think there could be an audience for that. When it comes to streaming, they lack a real vision on how to make it work and be successful. It shouldn’t take a year (or more) for new seasons of shows (or new shows in general) that air on MTV, Comedy Central, etc.. to make their way to Paramount+. Plus, having to pay out residuals/royalties should not be a deterrent from making entire libraries/seasons, etc… readily accessible.
  12. Again, the reporting (from Variety, Comcast press releases, etc…) indicates that sports coverage/programming will continue on USA, CNBC, etc.. There has been nothing I have seen/read that would indicate otherwise. For example, this is directly from a Comcast press release from February in reference to the 2026 Winter Games… ‘Consistent with previous Olympic Winter Games, comprehensive cable coverage will be on USA Network and CNBC. USA Network will once again be the 24/7 home of Team USA while CNBC will provide coverage on the weekends and weekdays once its business day programming concludes.’ From a World Soccer Talk article.. ‘From a sports perspective, the partners that we have on cable assets like Golf Channel and USA, we’re going to fulfill every obligation and every promise we made to them across NBC and SpinCo, which is the cable assets,” NBC Sports President Rick Cordella explained this week at the SBJ Conference.‘ You have to keep in mind that removing sports from the spun off cable networks will greatly devalue them. Comcast is not going to do that despite the networks not being a part of the company. Again, it is expected some things will be sub-licensed to SpinCo and/or outsourced (likely to NBC Sports). For now, everything will continue as planned.
  13. I don't think NBC can arbitrarily move sports programming around unless there's language in the respective deal(s) that allow for that option. Once the rights are up for renewal, then things could/will change. For now, everything regarding sports programming is expected to remain the same (including the Olympics) with SpinCo having to fill in certain gaps with their own people wherever necessary.
  14. Reportedly, all sports programming will continue to air on the spun off cable networks. Production will be outsourced (mostly to NBC Sports), however SpinCo will still have to build a team to 'manage its league deals' and create their own streaming products.
  15. WSVN and FOX have a 30 plus-year relationship and have described each other as 'perfect partners.' FOX went as far as to say, when they renewed the affiliation last year, that their 'relationship with Ed and the Sunbeam team is one of our longest and strongest affiliate partnerships.' That doesn't sound like either party is unhappy.
  16. Oops!!! My bad. I think the issue is that Fox 13 is/was using of hodge podge of graphics. If they were to, for example, follow Fox 32's lead and use the 'new' Good Day graphics across the board, maybe it would look better? I like the simplicity/'somewhat' uniqueness of WFLD and the bold/sharpness of WNYW. And agree the other Fox O&Os could/should adapt either one to their morning newscasts.
  17. ‘Good Day Seattle’ (Fox13) has a new opening/look. If it feels familiar, it’s because it’s very similar to Fox 32’s ‘Good Day Chicago’.
  18. Keep in mind that they do have a job listing for a meteorologist posted. So whatever the current situation is, it will change. Nevertheless, they definitely could have divided responsibilities up better.
  19. Yes, the studios/sound stages are on the second floor. They have a lot of open space to work with on 2, so it will be interesting to see what they come up with.
  20. I mentioned this downsizing last April. That said, there were plans ‘unofficially’ announced early last year that NBC was planning to create a massive combined newsroom (and possibly studios) upstairs for both WMAQ (NBC 5) and WSNS (T44). However, this was before they announced they were downsizing. But based on this new information (and if I'm understanding the listing correctly), it looks like they will be moving upstairs (likely the same floor as the NBC News Midwest bureau and master control). And if I remember correctly, that’s on the second floor. It’s been a while since I’ve visited the NBC Tower…
  21. Snow would have been a solid choice, but it’s clear she wants to spend more time with her family. Guthrie is not at the level of say.. Diane Sawyer. She’s decent on Today, but is no where near good enough to be ‘the face’ of NBC News. And Jackson is too young (40) and when compared to ABC’s Johnson and Davis or CBS’ Duncan, they are all better than her, imo. I don’t think they wanted to take Alexander away from his current position. That said, it’s possible he gets a bigger role down the line (I.e.. succeeding Diaz-Balart on NN Saturday). The Liamas move buys NBC some time to build their anchor bench. When compared to ABC and CBS, they are pretty weak.
  22. Llamas is a safe (predictable) choice much like Melvin was (when he succeeded Kotb). The only surprise is Tom keeping ‘Top Story’ in addition to Nightly. That’s a lot to take on.
  23. It’s likely just a matter of hitting the right preset button (clouds, rain, snow, etc..). Doubtful it’s any more complex than that.
  24. They moved back to home base and unveiled a new desk (identical to WTTG). Not sure if they’re finished with the studio/set remodel (the lighting appears off…lots of shadows, etc…) While the new desk is nice, it is noticeably lower than the previous one.
  25. It’s likely going to be Llamas who replaces Holt and I could see Jackson taking weekends (in addition to a more prominent role on NN during the week). Which means, Diaz-Balart moves to NBC News Now as they could use more NBC News veterans. And now that they cut his MSNBC show, he’s free to do more. Guthrie should remain on Today. I know they have been pushing her the past couple of years, but she can be insufferable.
