  1. WCAU cancelled a mayoral debate after failing to agree with the democratic mayors six page memorandum of understanding which included things about the size of dressing rooms, water bottles and camera angles. I can understand some things set up for equality but dictating camera angles is ridiculous. I wonder what other demands were on the list. http://www.philly.com/philly/news/NBC10_cancels_mayoral_debate_over_demands_by_Kenney_campaign.html#disqus_thread
  2. Blake McKoy will be joining NBCNews initially as their correspondent based in LA, https://twitter.com/nbcnewspr/status/631142818396917760
  3. Does anyone know why the default ABC News ticker during America This Morning and Good Morning America does not match their graphics package and why don't they provide a default standard style for their affiliates to cover up?
  4. I've seen msnbc use Steve Sosna semi regularly in the afternoons when The Cycle was on the air and their "chief meteorologist" Raphael Miranda wasn't available.
  5. I think she should have kept quiet until this whole debacle was over. This explanation is extremely fishy.
  6. I don't have a link handy but Maryland Public Television has outsourced their master control to WGBH. If I recall correctly the article said they had eight master control operators - two are staying on, three retired, one found another job and the remaining two have yet to find another job.
  7. I think this won't end well for her. Before reading the details I thought maybe she could come away unscathed but once I saw how big and complex this indictment I realized that there was no way she could plead ignorance. For me the "sale" of her Porsche sealed the deal in her involvement. Don't prosecutors sometimes charge both spouses (despite spousal privilege) in hopes of getting one of them to turn the other one in? Naturally the story made Nightly News and they disclosed that his wife was an anchor at WCAU. It seemed like they left the picture of Renee on screen longer than her husband. I imagine this will be an uncomfortable situation for Renee and her colleagues when she returns. I imagine she's used to her coworkers covering and examining her husbands job during day to day duties but it's a whole new ball park when theirs criminal wrongdoings and you are mentioned in the indictment. Hopefully she will realize that this is her coworkers job and there won't be any hard feelings when this is all over with.
  8. I think I mentioned it earlier. But anyway here's the category description for websites: Based on that description it doesn't sound like that it has to win any design awards but rather easily has a simple ease of use. L
  9. Per TVNewser the Today Show simulcasted Morning Joe this morning for about five minutes. Morning Joe had an interview with John McCain where he gave his first reaction to the disrespectful comments about Senator McCain's military career. I think this is the first time Today has ever simulcasted Morning Joe where in the past it's been the other way around. Most recently it was Mika Brzezinski promoting her book "Grow Your Value" in studio with Savannah Guthrie. During the simulcast I noticed that the logo on Today's lower third switched from Today/NBC News logos to the Today/Decision 2016 logo.
  10. As far as I know Roberts was out before he left CNN which was several years before Anderson Cooper and Don Lemon. Emphasis added.
  11. The company that Fox was using was TVEyes which records all the cable news networks, every TV station in all 210 DMA, international news networks, every BBC and ITV region and several others countries. TV Eyes records the stations in real time in HD and allows subscribers to view said stations in near real time, they can search transcripts going back 32 days and allows users to download clips up to 10 minutes long.
  12. Just because it's Friday I thought I'd post this gratituitous shot of Sky5. https://instagram.com/p/4-kloppESO/
  13. Well WMAR could move The Insider from the slot left open by Let's Ask America but are their any scheduling restrictions in relation to ET and The Insider?
  14. In a bit of corporate synergy the Minion took over the Today show. The fans out on the plaza had minion to-shirts and glasses on. While the Orange Room turned yellow. At first glance it looked like they painted it but looking closer you could see they covered the walls up with yellow wood, in addition they laid down yellow carpet and replaced the lamps as well.
  15. Thanks for the info. I know very little on the ad side of TV (prefer engineering and still am learning). I'm curious how does NBC deal with the what was supposed to be a four hour broadcast to an eight hour broadcast ad wise? I imagine they ran threw most of their inventory during the rain delay but would they repeat ads (assuming the could get money from them) or could they pull some advertisements from upcoming races?
  16. I think someone mentioned that WBAL was going to record their newscast at 11:30. It makes sense just incase they didn't make the 11:30 starting time and they decided to postpone the race until tomorrow. I'm curious why is 2AM the contigency time? Locally WBAL plays out Dateline and Meet The Press starting at 2 AM but that time seems to vary from station to station. But now that you mention it 2AM is the latest I've seen a newscast start due to sports over runs.
  17. The only Chicago shots I've seen are flash cams either the control room or some weird shot where the wall is stacked I beams. The web of the I beams have inserts that can be changed showing the NBC News or Noticiero Telemundo logo.
  18. WCAU now has a drone: http://www.nbcphiladelphia.com/video/#!/news/local/NBC10-s-New-Aerial-News-Camera-Debuts/311601241 Having trouble playing this on my iPad.
  19. I got a news alert from WTVJ saying the GE Building is officially renamed the Comcast Building. I doubt many people will actually call it Comcast Building.
  20. Instead of bumping an old thread I thought I would post this here. It appears the Comcast/Peacock sign on 30 Rock is now up. I haven't seen any mention on the national newscasts so I guess that it's not completely up and running. I think it looks pretty good. https://twitter.com/anthonyquintano/status/610081006310309888
  21. Here's a better look at that wall: https://instagram.com/p/3J2WK6TQfA/
  22. There hasn't been an example of this kind in Baltimore. However WJZ helped WMAR (they share a transmitter building) get back on air during the barricade situation last year and many years ago WBAL and WJZ were evacuated because a crane on their tower became loose. WJZ reported from WBFF's garage and WBAL broadcasted from MPT's studios.
  23. Found some interesting comments (that I had to rewrite as I'm on my phone so forgive me for errors) on this video I posted: [yt]8Ngumw2qCfI[/yt] I find the last one interesting. I imagine WJZ is a bit like WPVI but even they moved into the future. I guess the want to keep the Baltimore kitsch. . It makes me wonder why WJZ is worried when the other stations upgraded their set and graphics with no viewer out range online.
  24. I have no idea about that but I was surprised to learn that WMAR is still a union shop through IBEW & SAG/AFTRA (WBAL is the other Baltimore union). Makes me look at WMAR in a better light.
