1. Thanks, my TiVo guide has yet to be updated. As a side note I came across this video for a camera robotics company. This video is from Mark Roberts Motion Control showing their robotic setup for London Live, which is the local TV set up serving London. Anyway in this video aside from the robotics it shows that London Live's studio cameras are actually Nikon DSLR's which to me is a bit surprising. Have any of you seen a similar type of set up as the primary studio camera? I've seen similar cameras used for promo shoots but not in this type of situation.
2. Wonder what they will be preempting for the extra half hour? Sunday night / Monday AM they air Matter of Fact, Inside Edition Weekend, Monopoly Millionaire, Dateline, Meet The Press and Rizzoli and Isles. I don't think they'll pull Monopoly as I believe it's probably tied to their lottery contract.
3. Came across this mildly amusing video on Facebook. Would have filed it in a CBS 2 thread but the one there was locked.
4. Is this during news programming, Primetime or syndicated? I wonder if this will be a mandate and how will WJZ integrate it. When Colbert's show launched their countdown during news looked awkward compare to their sister stations.
5. According to this tweet from him he was.
6. According to FTVLive Jose Diaz-Balart was named as the Saturday Nightly News anchor. His social media pages listed it for a few weeks but this was the first time a news oriented website mentioned it.
7. So today's Sunday's With Harry is a repeat of a story he'd did for Nightly News on June 15, 2015: http://www.nbcnews.com/nightly-news/chalkboards-lessons-1917-uncovered-oklahoma-school-n375866
8. Here are a few more pictures of NewsForce 10 getting wrapped and the final product: Here's Ice Force 10 getting wrapped:
9. I'm not quite sure yet as I just saw a photo. From the looks of it has an external antenna for LiveU (or whatever bonded unit they use), a receive antenna for TV and an uplink dish. Other NBC stations seem to have gotten the Wranglers for weather use with built in marine radar and weather stations but this one just looks like it's for news.
10. WCAU got a new toy today. Introducing News Force 10. So far it appears WVIT, KNBC and WCAU have gotten these Jeeps. This one however does not look like it has the marine radar.
11. Sometimes in my iPad it gets annoying editing posts so apologies before hand for a double post. It looks like WHUT, the PBS TV station owned by Howard University in Washington, DC, will be participating in the spectrum auction according to this NY Times article. It doesn't specify if they will be channel sharing, shutting down the channel completely or continue to broadcast it on cable. However I could easily see them shutter than channel completely as they are a secondary PBS affiliate to both Maryland Public Television and WETA. All three public TV stations are carried widely on cable in both the Baltimore and Washington DMAs. Edit: After I posted this WSVNFan posted so it's not doubled.
12. Today was Mandy Drury's last day at CNBC's HQ in Englewood Cliffs. She's moving back to her home country, Australia, where she'll remain in the CNBC family as a correspondent based in Sydney. Unfortunately I imagine most of her reports will be taped due to the sixteen hour time difference. She could probably be on the air around 3PM ET which would be 7AM in Sydney. 13. And people wonder why WMAR doesn't do so hot in the ratings.
14. The Today Show broadcast from the White House this morning where Matt, Savannah, Natalie, Al and Carson (+Jenna Bush Hager). Matt has a recorded interview with POTUS and Savannah has a live interview with VPOTUS. Here's a photo of all the equipment they schlepped along. Check out Today's Twitter account to see a lot more photos. It seems like they were granted almost unlimited access to the White House.

In Memoriam

Royal "Park" Pollokoff a long time Baltimore anchor and presenter has passed away. He was one of WJZ's first anchors when it was still WAAM from 1951-1962. He then switched to WBAL that year and stayed with the station until 1994. While he was at WBAL he reported the news, played P.W. Doodle, hosted Pinbusters and Bowling for Dollars in addition to being an announcer. He is predeceased by his wife Phyllis (who passed away in December 2014) and leaves behind two of his three children, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Condolences go out to his family. http://baltimore.cbslocal.com/2016/01/08/one-of-wjzs-first-anchormen-royal-parker-has-passed-away/ http://m.wbaltv.com/news/longtime-baltimore-tv-broadcaster-royal-parker-dies-at-86/37335332
16. As far as I know they still live stream - the different shows all appear in the NewsON app (which takes the streaming feed).
17. Just thinking out loud but WBAL had a listing out for an Anchor/Reporter about a month ago. I don't think anyone is leaving but maybe they were considering / planning a 4PM newscast with Meredith Vieira being canceled?
18. The Brokaw News Center is right next to the river as well. I think there's a garage or parking immediately next to the river.
19. Lowell Melser at 11 is a meteorologist and they use him when they need a fill in. I find it a bit odd that KFOR's sub channels are off when the main signal was restored but they are carried on cable.
20. To be totally honest if NBC were offering this as a supplemental / optional coverage for the central time zone they should have provided resources to WMAQ to make it great. It went out to 42 other stations and nationally on Cozi and Telexitos in addition to WMAQ/WSNS.
21. Also it's worth noting that 40 other stations and Cozi broadcast Chi-Town rising so that should show some influence name wise.
22. Still in use here at WBAL and WJZ. I think WMAR does it for certain events as well.
23. There's a map!? I find maps during severe weather useless as usually you can't really make out the counties - especially if you live in a large DMA. I think the Hearst ticker was designed so you can see the alerts county by county at quick glance while the line below it shows the detailed alert information.
24. To be honest they all have Ellen as a strong lead in but viewers would switch over if their product isn't good. What exactly is going to be removed from WCVB's schedule for the 4:30pm newscast? Also, what program is being removed (transferred to KQCA?) on KCRA?
25. No, I don't see Jose doing any more than hosting Saturday Nightly and appearances on MTP and pre recorded bits for NN. But I don't see it as a quota system. That being said NBC is realizing that Hispanics are a growing demographic so they should have their main anchor appear on the "flagship" network. A while back when Telemundo rebranded they specifically mentioned the "duality" of this generation who speak both English and Spanish. I think his appearances simply are showing just that.
