  1. Barbara was arguably the longest-surviving face on the Mount Rushmore of journalism. I'm breaking this off into it's own thread.
  2. Bless their hearts, I've liked a lot of what management has been done at NBC 5, lately, but what the hell is their deal with male anchors? Can they just not leave anything alone for a few years, much less A FEW MONTHS? I know they need to name a 5 & 6pm assignment, but they always seem to feel the need to fiddle with things that aren't huge problems.
  3. A warm, charismatic, 60-something Black woman, a hard news guy with a long European name and a great head of hair, and a cool, younger, former NFL player who also appears on a Sunday morning football panel show, all broadcasting from Times Square, in a studio with gaudy exterior signage, but seemingly doesn't like showing off the iconic views. Don't know where you got the idea that they're ripping off GMA.
  4. This was published over a year ago, and obviously a fan-made mash-up of a real close followed by drone footage with MCTYW put over it by the uploader.
  5. Carol Marin and Floyd Kalber would like a word. Hell, Allison Rosati's 25 years as lead has her GOATed, to a degree.
  6. She announced her retirement back in October, before the buyouts started rolling.
  7. It's 28° where I am. I'm already chilled enough. Too many folks take the opportunity to pile on with that kind of stuff, making up speculative demos, showing what their home stations would look like. And you're right, a few are fine, but there's enough of a track record for me to know that if I checked back a few hours later, there probably would've been a dozen more. I only meant it as a casual reminder to all.
  8. Thank for saying this in a much more polite, eloquent way than I wanted to. The "NEW GOOD, OLD BAD" attitude of said poster in this and another thread has rubbed me the wrong way, for some reason, but painting this community with such a belittlingly broad brush struck a nerve.
  9. Add'em to the list. It's gettin' long.
  10. He was last on Wednesday at 4, and was out the rest of the week. I'm guessing he had a COVID exposure, stayed home the required 5 days, and returned after a negative test and/or no symptoms. He'll probably remained distanced for this week, just to be safe, but is MOSTLY in the clear. Sounds like he's following what is likely company policy.
  11. From the Discord. I don't have the user's name handy, at the moment. KPIX_2022_3PM_Trim.mp4
  12. We're not doing this with every affiliate.
  13. Diane's been filling in for Roz for about a decade, and I'm not surprised that Terrell and Judy worked well together, as they were paired for 3.5 years. Karen was also in for Cheryl at 7, so that's normal procedure, and Terrell doing the 5, 6 & 10 is the same shift Ravi would do, when filling in for Alan. What I find interesting, though, is that Rob has been the consistent 6pm anchor since the retirement, so Terrell filling in there, too, raised an eyebrow. I'm going to guess that Ravi is getting time off before his heavy holiday workload, and Rob's contributing report at 10 was prerecorded, so maybe he was unavailable, but I'm guessing that this isn't the last we'll see of evening Terrell. I'm still in the camp that thinks that Baichwal and Elgas will split Krashesky's old duties, but I'll bet Brown gets more weeknight time, to keep him from feeling like he's passed over, in all this. Heck, Tanja has put in a few afternoon shifts, this year, as well.
  14. First Linda MacLennan, back in the fall, and now some of these familiar faces. We're officially living in a timeline where WBBM has a decent relationship with some former on-air talent, and I never thought I'd see the day.
  15. The whole sale mess is certainly a unique issue for them, but there are hiring freezes across the industry and ownership groups.
  16. Only 9 years at WCAU, but his time at WNBC and WRC put him over the decade mark.
  17. And previous listings suggested December 5th. As the holidays approach, I think we can safely assume that the program will not fully debut until January, unless credible info suggests otherwise. A suggestion for all users- since the launch date as moved several times, and it's all led to needless speculation, I'd recommend that we only post dates that are officially announced by the station, though probably not from their online guide. Press releases and anchor postings, ONLY, please.
  18. That's Saturday. They already air weekend morning news. That's nothing new.
  19. Every illness that wasn't COVID or the flu kicked my ass, this last week, so I'm finally getting around to posting Alan's final 10pm highlights.
  20. Honestly, as a straight guy with many female friends, some going back 25 years, the ONLY thing here that really screams more than friendship is multiple butt slaps. And yes, having existing marriages might not make for a good look, but sheesh, this isn't even in the same zip code as a Lauer type situation.
  21. With more and more time on the weekend morning show, it's little surprise that Samantha Chatman has been named weekend morning co-anchor. She'll continue in her I-Team duties, which likely means Liz Nagy will remain as a prominent fill-in anchor on weeknights. https://www.facebook.com/samantha.chatman/posts/pfbid0ii4aR2kKjcAaPxxcFBRba35ETFxSaRFCfgcK8bhNazEhwW5hketnqidHvLiK4Fi7l Now, to just clean things up on the weeknight roster. This week, they've gone with a very familiar Ravi/Rob/Ravi at 5, 6 & 10.
  22. Thanks for the reminder, but that was covered earlier in this thread, 4 weeks ago.
