  1. Either way, it was not their choice, and that was not stated in a sarcastic, joking tone.
  2. I don't know why the change was made, but Robin and Paul have been making fun of it for months. They openly state that they were fired from those duties, but whether or not the change was that harsh is unclear. It wouldn't be the first time they over-exaggerated something for comedic effect.
  3. I'm usually very doubtful of the stuff that any network puts out on personnel changes and such, but I really am convinced that this whole kerfuffle was on Mr. Horowitz. I'll reiterate, I'm not saying there won't be changes down the line, but no one's leaving RIGHT NOW through THIS STRATEGY. They're even making fun of it on the air, something you didn't see leading up to the upheavals in recent years... http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/today-hosts-laugh-off-reports-of-being-fired-what-are-you-doing-here_b246692 Here's a fun throwback to one of the first personnel blow-ups in Today's history... http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/either-do-whats-necessary-or-admit-youre-not-up-to-it-the-other-today-manifesto_b246631
  4. Turness' bigger problem has been in the evening and on Sunday mornings.
  5. Yeah.
  6. Man, rough year for Diane. GMA led with the news, and despite other, more pressing stories, I think it's appropriate in this situation.
  7. And then there are some people that will believe everything they read on a gossip website. This was Horowitz's ideas. Horowitz is gone. Everybody is safe, for now. If someone does get canned, it'll be by someone else with a different strategy.
  8. Yup, and Bulls games, too. So it was pretty much year-round.
  9. Looks like US Weekly screwed one of the many pooches on this one... http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/nbc-news-boss-on-us-weekly-today-show-story-the-rumors-are-wrong-period_b246485
  10. Take a look at some headlines. No one seems to know what's going on... https://news.google.com/news?ncl=diD-ypbLn0-xbEMG0sL488eEEPPdM&q=natalie+morales+willie+geist&lr=English&hl=en&sa=X&ei=BMxsVNvVEIekyQTHgIHAAg&ved=0CCsQqgIwAA
  11. I'm actually going to commend Matt on this one. His co-anchors essentially asked him for some assistance and pull, and he came to bat for them. Sure, Matt effectively got another person fired, but how is it any worse than what Horowitz was going to do?
  12. Eh, I was just going to post this in the more relevant thread, but here's the first 22 minutes of ABC 7's live coverage this afternoon for the installation of the new Archbishop. [yt]BJLZ2Y0lYFM[/yt]
  13. 6-way split screen. Y'all know this is a big thing. Betcha they didn't think it would be this cold when they starting handing out anchor assignments. I am curious to see, though, who will anchor the 4 o'clock news, as coverage of this installation will be concluding at 4.
  14. I know there's been some shifting around of producers and directors lately, so maybe that was an experiment (but likely sweeps-related). Clearly, they like the position switch. And besides, more commercials aired...
  15. So, the 4pm toss has been compromised. The commercial has returned breaking the two newscasts, but Linda and Alan still close the show standing up.
  16. I know this wasn't live, but I'm not usually a fan of these TV proposals, but that was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ADORABLE. Now excuse me while I pick my manliness up off the floor.
  17. The distance of the two spots to the desk is about the same, and the sports/Goudie side monitor is more adjustable, but the way they do the toss allows for a much tighter shot. Plus, there's no good way the monitor on the left could be placed to accommodate the toss and the preceding trending segment closing the show. It might look even worse, in my opinion.
  18. I know they can tilt it to adjust the angle (i.e. facing the floor versus the ceiling), and the whole piece might be able to rotate on its base, but it cannot be moved from its mounting.
  19. Here's the shot with both Linda and Alan... As for the anchors being in the way of the graphic, that stems back to the old arrangement where the toss would go desk > full shot > stand-up, closing with the 'COMING UP AT 5PM' graphic in full view...
  20. He was on at midday today, and they mentioned yesterday that he was fighting a nasty cold last week. Frankly, he didn't sound very good either day this week.
  21. Yup, the new 4 to 5 toss is a thing. Krash and Linda tossed to the desk and right into the 5.
  22. Cheryl was on with Linda at 4, and Alan did a tease in the opening rundown before his report like he did at 6.
  23. That is absolutely hilarious. Fahey approves of that comment, but Ron is displeased.
  24. I first noticed her on 'Midday'. I don't know if she got a welcome or anything. Also of note: Steve Sanders came back to 'Midday' today after 4 weeks. He had his knee replaced, but as a regular viewer, I didn't hear one peep about his absence over the last month. What's interesting, though, is that over those weeks, there had to have been at least 10 different anchors and reporters fill in for him (Bob Jordan the most frequent).
  25. Has Carson already been the de facto 5th member of the team at 10 and slipping right in, or is she being moved there with Ward's cutback?
