  1. Hosea Sanders is filling in at the desk at 4 today for the first time since the WCIU broadcast was canceled. I was beginning to think that they phased him out of anchoring for good, though this could be a last resort type thing, as holiday schedules get wacky. Either way, nice to see him back in the role, especially with Judy.
  2. Dean Richards recently got roughed up in a fall downtown, so veteran anchor Steve Sanders will appear as host of this Friday night's holiday presentation of 'Family Classics,' becoming only the 4th person to introduce the once-weekly film presentation. He should do a fabulous job. https://www.robertfeder.com/2019/12/12/robservations-steve-sanders-saves-day-wgns-family-classics/
  3. According to other reports, yes, he'll also assume those roles.
  4. Interesting choice, but he is pretty versatile, so he'll be fine.
  5. It required too much effort, on my end, which seemed appropriate.
  6. Like a major news story, I thought this deserved a SPECIAL GRAPHIC, but in light of recent debuts, this is all we're gonna get...
  7. O...kay? So? Sounds to me like Ushery is working late, and Price is off. Not sure what's so special about any of this.
  8. Studio just got upgrades to hold them til the network relocates, and new graphics might be coming.
  9. Kate Chappell was a lead anchor in Milwaukee, and was the maternity fill-in for Katie on weekends. I'll bet she gets it, and not too far in the future.
  10. WFLD has a few anchor/reporter job listings on their website, and a familiar face might be one of the candidates.
  11. Here's the open.
  12. Most of what you listed is national programming, and will be seen everywhere. That was specifically discouraged in the initial post of this thread. Consider this an example of what not to post here, and a warning for all.
  13. Oh my God.
  14. While it is overproduced to the point where it's hard to tell if it's live or prerecorded, WLS will be airing the Disney-heavy 'Magnificent Mile Lights Festival' on a 1-day delay, for what I believe is the first time. Instead of this Saturday at 6pm like in years past, it'll be first-run the following night, Sunday 11/24, preempting America's Funniest Home Videos. ABC's reconfigured Saturday Night Football schedule necessitated such a change. Lead anchors Alan Krashesky and Cheryl Burton host, with Janet Davies and anchor Rob Elgas on the street. I know it's syndicated out to other O&O's and ABC stations, so check your local listings...because I'm not. https://abc7chicago.com/society/magnificent-mile-lights-festival-/5689387/
  15. Ratner's in his 70's, and is starting to decline a bit. I can't imagine that he'd be a viable long-term option, unless they'd want to do this all over again in a couple years.
  16. From that same account, a CLTV open from the late 90's, back when they were based in Oak Brook, IL, a decade before shacking up with WGN. Their former home, a business park, has since been torn down.
  17. I forgot that this existed, period, but I'm questioning the date, as Allison Rosati would've lead co-anchor, by that point. Why/how would she be doing a 10am show?
  18. It's this year's image branding. It's not a new logo replacing anything.
  19. 1. Google it. KHOU and KPRC are not O&O's. 2. KABC, KGO, and KFSN have differently-colored versions of the same graphics. KTRK's is a different package, period. More 3D effects, different opens, different lower thirds.
  20. Yes, and yes, though I'd hardly say KTRK and KGO have much in common.
  21. Content is key, of course, but THIS ACTUALLY MAKES SENSE. Nice nod by TEGNA and station leadership, for once.
  22. Surely posted earlier in this thread, but howzabout 90 minutes of the WLS afternoon newscasts from exactly 30 years ago tonight?
  23. Mentioned right up this page in July. They put in a temporary video wall in front of the monitor wall, installed the seamless unit behind it, then removed the stand-in. Took like a week or two.
  24. In yet another update to the main ABC News studio, the monitors on the front of the desk are now completely seamless. The panels on the corners also have been removed entirely, after seeing a few different looks over the set's 9-year life. Only 2 to 20 more years before the move to the new building. They made this change during the last weekend of October, when no Saturday WNT is produced.
  25. Agreed, and no, not often. This was only the second time I can recall them stringing two or more in a row on the 7-day. Meanwhile, Windy City LIVE's new EP is being promoted from within. https://www.robertfeder.com/2019/11/01/abc-7-names-hank-mendheim-executive-producer-windy-city-live/ Also, as it's sweeps, we're seeing a special segment at 10 basically every night, though like 95% are I-Team branded. Tonight, however, is one of the outliers, and it uses some different graphical elements, and a bit of a new branding. The Eyewitness News/time slot lower third remains unchanged.
